  1. Hi all, hope some kind soul will help ... Just bought FO3 enhanced edition with all DLCs however I have lost save game for when I completed Main Quest many moons ago ... Can't find a suitable savegame on Nexus ... Has anyone got a savegame just at the end of the main quest and before any DLC? if that's possible Would be most grateful ...
  2. Hi, I am hoping some kind soul can assist me ... I like working with obj files in Silo 2.2 and I am learning to do so in Max 2012 My question is about skinning ... I have succeeded, after many trials and with the help of the tutorials on the nexus, in bringing an obj into Max, changing the obj, adding the dismember info and the bones, ie skin modifier, saving as a nif, change partition number and add shader in NifSkope, and getting it to show up in game ... happy days. I managed to get an amended body (just vertices pushed about) inside clothes, which is naff but cheered me up ... I find is easy to open the amended obj in NifSkope and add the shader info from another nif ... this works well. I thought there must be a way to copy and paste bones/skinning info ie bsdismember info, in a similar way, however I have tried lots of different ways of pasting the dismember from the original file into the amended obj in NifSkope, but nothing seems to work ... So my question is --- is there actually a way to do this within nifSkope instead of into and out of Max? Was this possible before, and is this one of the features awaited in the finalised Skyrim friendly NifSkope? Any assistance will be appreciated
  3. Forgot to apologise if there have been previous posts on this topic ... I haven't spotted any, worse luck.
  4. So, you have a body inside a dress where the chest pokes through ... having no luck with Max and NifSkope, I tried the obj route ... Exported the original nif from NifSkope as obj (that is both the body and the dress together as one file), opened in Max and changed the dress slightly to cover the chest. Exported the body and dress together from Max as obj. (had to flip the y and z axis) Opened the original nif and imported the obj into it so that it sort of meshes into the original nif (It's no good trying to copy and paste from original nif in one window into new obj in another because of the "versions are different" problem i.e. don't work nohow) Copied and pasted the bsdismember, the skinning and the textures over, old body to new body and old dress to new dress ... (you, know paste at end and then change Properties) Deleted the original body and dress and renumbered and renamed the obj versions to the original names All looked just perfect in NifSkope and all data seemed identical EXCEPT for the Translation data which was 0.0.0 in two places in the new file and various data in the old file However, when opened in game, the dress is ok but the body (which is perfectly textured by the way, deep joy) is hovering above the head ... it moves with the body , however it is wavy and stretched ... looks like a manic ghost ... I tried just changing the translation data in the new file, but that seems to have no effect. Since I only tried this as an experiment, and I am impressed to even get this far, I wonder if anyone can just nudge me in the right direction to finish it off? (I mean, it might be a well known easy fix for all I know) Or maybe just let me know it can't be done until the new NfSkope hoves into view, whenever. Since this is the first time I have tried this admittedly weird method, just because it seemed logical because I only moved a few vertices, after all ... but I have now run out of ideas. PS Sorry if this seems gibberish, I had to write this in a hurry, without my files in front of me, hoping others will be familiar with it and know the answer ... if anyone is interested in the amazing hovering ghost ,I could probably write out the steps in more detail
  5. I'm no expert, but I found out the hard way that a ctd is often caused by the bsdismember modifier being trashed within max ... you need to delete it and do a new one, then change the bsdismember partition number in nifskope ... this did work for me! I got the info from this very long and detailed tutorial on this forum, which explains it much better NB the initial tutorial does not mention the bsdismember modifier, you have to real the later posts! no gain without pain good luck with that, i know just how frustrating it is  http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/478312-tutorial-3ds-max-skinned-meshes-into-game/
  6. HI I made myself a modded leather armour to remove pauldrons on the shoulders, which left ugly holes in the body shoulders, which meant I had to replace the body with Astrid ... I also removed the silly annoying screen thingy inside the skirt so I could see what I was doing (hoping to insert underwear similar to the forsworn armour at some point) Finally managed to get it to work in game ... there are some clipping issues but it looks quite good (See Pic 001) However, if you look inside the armour (See Pic 002) some faces have not rendered, and the sun shines in where it was not meant to be  I used 3ds Max and NifSkope to make changes and I'm wondering if i missed a setting somewhere to make the inside faces render? I'm hoping there is an easy fix :wallbash: I have seen this issue in other mods, so maybe an answer would be useful to other modders ... Thanks
  7. Hi, sorry to bother you ... I followed this advice and I did in fact manage to get a body to paste across into an armour ... it showed up in NifSkope beautifully, both the body and the armour correctly textured ... however when saved to Data folder and loaded in game, the armour was perfect but the body was invisible ... I am just wondering if you have do do some more matching of NiNodes i.e. match the nodes being pasted in to those already these , etc as well as just the name ... if so, I haven't figured figure out what matches what so far ? Or is it just a texturing problem which is easy if you know how? Grateful for any advice
  8. So I find ... To which one can only say ... why? There must be many, like me, who do not like using Steam, but who would like to use NVSE ... does a solution exist? No? Will it ever? certainly a solution exists 1 - buy a legal version of the game 2 - ignore steam and use NVSE to your heart's content Thanks for your time ... An ex-boss of mine used to say - Never assume :whistling: I have a legal copy, but I also have many problems with Steam (like lots of other people) which NVSE unfortunately makes worse, (also like lots of people on this forum), hence I was naively looking for an NVSE external mod which did not rely on Steam ... a forlorn hope it seems. Never mind I expect I'll get by without it  Its still a great game without NVSE, after all.
