  1. Is there an intrepid modeler out there who could "fix" the book mesh for a mod I'll be working on once the toolset is out? (Already doing the texture side of things) Right now both book models have a gouge down the middle. It'd be great if someone could fix it (and preserve the uvmap). The nif is BurntBook01.nif and BurntBook02.nif (both look the same to me, both work with the same textures, obviously only one would need the mesh fixing). http://i.imgur.com/JMDb3ta.jpg http://i.imgur.com/SERmZyE.jpg
  2. Hey all, Is there anyone who can help me with exporting a few custom models? I'm not looking for someone to export them for me, rather someone who might be able to hop on Steam and talk me through how to do it. I've tried following the only video tutorial I could find relevant to 3ds max, and it was terrible. All other tutorials I've found deal with armour, which involves rigging and such; something I don't think clutter involves? Alternatively if anyone has any links to decent tutorials dealing with 3ds max exports, I'd love to have them (unless it's the tutorial videos by "LipStudios", which is the aforementioned terrible one). Edit: In case anyone wonders, the issue I'm having is, after exporting and loading up in GECK the model isn't "invisible"; like it's not there at all but there's no red <!> missing object, it's just a blank space. I have no idea what I'm doing in Nifskope, no tutorials that I found on that. Edit2: Also moments after I post this, I discover Basic Guide: From Modelling to GECK. :pinch: Note: The guide really is basic, too basic. I'm lost
  3. fallout 3 was on a different track from our world from roughly the late 1940s, after world war 2 there are basically no real similarities between fallout 3 and our own world in terms of historical events (read the bible). Miniaturisation and the digital age never really occurred to the extent that it occurred in our world, instead their nuclear age lasted longer and they made greater advances in nuclear fission/fusion technology, hence why you have fusion powering pretty much every electrical device in the fallout universe. The fallout universe was just about entering it's own digital age when the war happened, hence why they have that "DOS" and not windows. I'm not against your mod idea though, just pointing out that it's not our world.
  4. funny, but no, you can't.
  5. Hi there, I seem to have run into an issue I've not experienced before in the GECK. When I have the preview window open to view a character or item, I can't PAN the camera inside the window. I can pan and such in the render window perfectly fine, but the preview window I can only zoom in/out, can't pan or move the camera otherwise. Any ideas on how to sort it out?
  6. In your data folder you should usually only have .esm, .esp, .bsa and some folders. Anything that isn't a folder or one of the aforementioned extensions, put back into what you call your "base" folder and try it then.
  7. There was a vehicle mod made awhile ago that used the motorbike, but it was...childish at best. I mean, it was great that they got a basic version of a working vehicle in the game, but...a motorbike with giant machineguns on it is...lame. Anyway, you could look into that mod if you want, not sure what it's called anymore, but it's there, you could switch out the bike model for the car model. I should mention that the mod is very very basic, you can't "turn" properly (you strafe) and the speed boost is ridiculous (at least it was on my machine).
  8. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9592 It looks like this mod has basically what I was requesting for all the default weapons. It'd be nice if he could release the "weapon wall" as a seperate mod from the vault, and possibly include instructions for expanding the displayable weapons >.< (i play with FOOK2 plus a few other weapons I added myself).
  9. Aye, the mannequins don't work to well for putting in your portable tent or in the limited space of the megaton house. I have taken it upon myself to mod my megaton house with a new room and put in some of the display cases, but it's just to fancy, I want to be able to have one rack in the "living room" of the house, which I can chuck a few guns on for "display" (same with the tent), that and I'd like to pretend that i'm dashing into my tent to grab my hunting rifle when a pack of vicious dogs comes charging at me (or a robot...).
  10. Hi there, I have a very small request for a working weapon rack, something like the bobblehead display unit but for guns (you open the inventory, drop the weapon in, and then close the inventory and the weapon world model or whatever appears in the rack). Something like these; 001 002 003 004 005 I know that display cases already exist, but they're a bit too fancy for me, and the game is lacking in utalitarian weapon storage lol (as a side note, the racks would look great not just in my megaton home but also in the various armouries around the wasteland).
  11. I fixed it (I think). You have to copy the .dll from your system32 file into the game directory, seemed to work for me. Installing the new version of GFWL meant I was getting the .dll error anymore, instead it was CTDing on load instead lol, copying over the .dll fixed that. Wasn't using any mods what so ever, it's a brand new fresh installation of fallout3 without the patches (because the patches wouldn't install because of the .dll bug too).
  12. I have the same issue, on my old PC fallout 3 works fine, on my new machine, with a fresh install, I'm getting the xlive.dll issue. No idea what's going on, I've tried reinstalling Fallout3, and just the xlive redistributable that's on the fallout3 dvd but to no avail. I'm going to try the FOMM way now. *Edit* The FOMM way doesn't work for me, Fallout3 crashes before the logos are even played. This is really really f---ing annoying. This game has worked fine since I got it last christmas and it's worked fine on my old machine, now I'm on a new one and it's screwed up.
  13. For some reason the Render window never renders cells, so I can't place or move anything in the world. Also when I "preview" items or NPCs, the "ground texture" has been replaced with just solid black, and on NPCs the "body texture" has been replaced with solid black as well, only their heads are the correct texture. Also several items in the GECK appear as solid red (like when their texture cannot be located). In game however *everything* appears perfectly fine. I've not actually done any modding (this time around, fresh reinstall only a couple of weeks ago) myself yet because of these issues. The mods I am using are (names are from the .esp and .esm files); O:Anchorage The Pitt Broken Steel Point Lookout FWE + FOOK with a temporary compatibility fix and the required mods for them to function (CALIBR & CRAFT) DCInteriors_Georgetown acsIsolatedHome springvalecamp Mannequin My PC exceeds the specs for Fallout 3 and prior to this most recent install, GECK never had an issue with it before, and I'm pretty sure it's not hardware related.
