  1. Hello guys, let me give you a little bit of background on my issue here: I've started my second Requiem game recently, my first one was a Bosmer thief a little back, that I tried to keep as Vanilla as possible, the only major mods I had were Revenge of the ennemies and Immersive ennemies. (I loved every second of it) I decided to start another game as a light-armored, two handed Nord and making smithing my main profession, with a bunch of other mods installed (mainly unfortunately as you already probably know, blacksmith vendors will only well Iron and leather this is making my progression extremely grindy. Combined with scarcity, Ineeds and the low carry capacity of Requiem, I have to say this game is more grindy and slow that i would like, especially considering Revenge of the ennemies making Draugr almost impossible to beat until I reach level 20ish. I mean it's still enjoyable, but up until now (level 10) it may have been more tedious than fun. So now that my game crashes when i tried to exit a cave I took 1 hour to clear, I'm considering starting a new game, without Ineeds, and adding Complete crafting overhaul and trade routes to make some basic goods a little more available, I don't know if I should keep scarcity :ermm: And this is where I need your expertise : is adding those two mods going to completely wreck the balance of the game, or is it fine ? And will this blend well with scarcity ?
  2. I recently deactivated weapon drop and slow down on low stamina, exhaustion from running and reactivated fast travel. Those were just two much for me, I understand that it arguably makes the game more realistic, but gameplay-wise, it was a pain in my butt.
  3. Yea, stamina management in this mode is probably the thing i like the least, everything you do costs stamina, even running, and you always need to be above 20% (or so) if you want to be able to fight correctly. If your fighting a bunch of ennemies (like 3 or 4 bandits) you have to be moving and slashing all the time and unless you invested all your attribute points in stamina up until level 40 or so, you will most likely run out of stamina after killing the first 2 bandit, if you can make it quick. This mechanics makes stamina potions pretty much mandatory for every type of character. It's a particular take that may be volontary, but to me, it's kind of a hassle to have to pause the game and chug a potion every 20 seconds.
  4. @Boombro Yes that's what I'll have to do, clear a bunch of bandit camps untill I bump my one-hand skill and evasion enough, going to come back with a Sven meat shield to tank the overlord too, he's probably going to die, but meh... It's kind of a bummer though, I wanted to clear BFB so I could get Fus and buy breezehome so I could store all my crap and stop over cheating the carry weight, also starting the main quest. I'm definitely planning to do that, except I'll probably keep a bow on the side and with a couple of spells (probably illusion, alteration, destruction) I don't think that's really a problem what so ever, actually it almost encouraged by how the deleveled system work, if you want to fill your one-handed perk tree (for exemple) at any given level, you can just go pick pockets or brew potions so you can invest more perk in the fighting tree you want, obviously at some point you'll be capped by your skill level and you'll have to actually go and use your sword, but it's a good strategy since it does allow to be more effictient with your sword and thus leveling it more quickly. @TheSpaceShuttleChallenger Yeah I get what you are saying, there is obviously a lot of try hard elitists out there, especially on the PC RPG scene, but they do have legitimate complaints though, I mean the tides may be turning nowadays, but it feels pretty legit to deplore the trend that had been going on lately, dumbing down game difficulty to the max so any 10 year old or casual (not saying this pejoratively) could play the game, I mean look at Vannila Skyrim, it's ridiculously easy, and increasing the difficulty level will just decrease damage dealt and increase damage taken, this is lazy and lame, we want actual challenging mechanics and fights, Dark Souls is the prime exemple of that, you absolutely don't have to be a PGM to play and enjoy it, you can be a total noob and have a blast, and it succeeds in being very challenging and enjoyable. It's a shame we HAVE to resort to extreme modding to correct that blatant flaw in vanila Skyrim.About Requiem, well then again it's a matter of personal taste, I had spend quite some time looking for the perfect mod combination before I decided to try out requiem, and I have to say, for now, it works for me although it IS a tad too hard, sometimes even absurdly so. I don't personally think Requiem is broken, but I have to give it to you, having to level alchemy in order to get to get more proeficient at sword fighting is very odd and quircky, that has to be the main flaw I have noticed this far. (well, this and the absurdly low carrying capacity)Now to be honest I haven't even tested the mod combo I had come up with and decided to go Requiem instead, I will stick with it for now, and onceI'm done with this play through I'll start a new game with custom mod configuration and see which one I like best, but i got to say, even though it's way hardcore, I do enjoy Requiem a lot, to me it does improve a lot of the game shortcoming. Wow dude thanks for the tip, I'll make sure I check it out.
  5. I like a challenge but this is beyond hardcore, I'm playing with revenge of the ennemies too. I was tackling bleak falls barrows, very first dungeon of the game (lol) and it took me hours to get to the boss chest, and there is no way I'll beat this damned draugr overlord till I've been through at least 4-5 hours more of grinding. I'm doing a thief-type Bosmer majoring archery and I knew those draugr would be a tough job so I came prepared, or so I thought. I went straight to Riften, not before getting my ass kicked by those three bandit guarding bleak falls entrance of course, got the sweet thieve's guild armor and a did a lot of pickpocketing and creeping behind vendors till I got enough perks to maximise my one handed and archery perk tree (both between lvl 20-25) and my sneaking (around lvl40) got myself a crap load of potions, a bunch of silver and flame elven arrows and some decent gear. Of course I cheated and increased my carrying capacity so I could carry all of this (default carry weight is ridiculously low) and there I was, standing in front of the cursed place, with my elven sword in one hand and my virtuous elven dagger in the other, and boy I was so proud I had this dagger. Needless to say I was out of charge and useful arrows before I even got to the middle of the dungeon. From the first draugr and on I realised using the traps to kill them for me was simply not an option but a necessity, I spent probably more than half an hour struggling with the mid boss like cursed draugr with his flaming hero nord greatsword and dead accurate explosive shout, so after dispatching the bazillion zombs in the final room I already knew I didn't stand the slightest chance against the overlord, but this was even worst than I thought, I can barely scratch him. This is miles away from vanilla Skyrim, you can't just breeze though wanna be tomb defender and just spend a little more time on that sissy they call boss, no, if you want to be the dragonborn and learn even one pathetic word of power, you have to work your ass off for it, prepare like you ACTUALLY have to do some badass hero s#*!. Anyway, I love this mod, but maybe it's a teeny tiny bit too outrageously hard. Also I'm not entirely sure every playstyle are equaly viable, stealth is super hard and somewhat impossible against some types of ennemies (most notably draugr) and I'm not sure deciding to go no-shield was a good idea, I'll stick to it though.
  6. Yeah I've given this a little more thought, and actually I think that one of the most interesting context to play in would be Summerset some time after the next great war. The big question is : who would win the war ? There's also the possibility the war doesn't happen at all, but I don't believe that. Vallenwood would also make an interesting place, but maybe too jungly, and moving trees, not so easy to get in a game I suppose.
  7. WTF indeed, seems like some sort of mistake.
  8. I really don't believe any of this, I don't think the Maormer serves any other purpose that a reminder that their are other not-so-well-known races lurking about, and I don't really see some sort a new force coming out and wiping the dominion, that would be a very underwhelming developement in the TES story, beside, this "ancient artifact" and "confront the Ivory King" business sound very unoriginal. If I had to bet, I'd place my money on a High Rock setting, partly because I'd like to see it happen, but also because I think it has great potential. I think, but I may be wrong ofc, the next game will most likely happen during the next great war, and High Rock has a pretty good placement for such a setting. Also, I'm not a lore-maniac but Barenziah is still alive and in High Rock isn't she ? I'd be guessing we'll see her again. Otherwise I'd bet on Hammerfell. This is all just next-to-random speculation though.
  9. Oh yes, I forgot to mention it but i also use ASIS, which is great too. i already have deadly dragon, didn't know it was compatible with Dragon Combat Overhaul though so I may look into this one. I'm not really sure about delevelling ennemies though, wouldn't that even destroy the concept of Skyrim Unleashed ? I haven't tried anything like it yet so I don't actually know how it will turn out, but I don't think Skyrim is really meant for that, I'd probably like if I could have visibility on it, per exemple if bandits an/or monster in a certain hold/region were notoriously stronger than anywhere else, but I don't like the idea of exploring a cave and having to turn back and leave it at that because I'd suddenly run into a random bandit much stronger than the other, also being technically able to loot high-tier equipement at a very low skill level really doesn't sound good to me. I am interested in Unleashed though, but how does it feels ? As I said, I'm not certain I'll enjoy having to grind for a dozen of hours before being able to take my first dungeon, it does appeal to me though, but is it really that much of a big deal in the long run ? I mean the game is going to be super hard at first but eventually you catch up with enemies don't you ?
  10. Hello, I am looking for the best Skyrim combat experience, because let's face it, vanilla combat is quite dull. I'm somewhat new in the mod business and untill recently I was using DUEL and ACE on expert level and I was pretty satisfied, especially with DUEL, this one is great. I wanted to crank it up a bit so i installed combat evolved, ultimate combat, and deadly combat, having the three of them at the same time maybe some kind of an overkill, but they seem to do pretty similar modifications. I have to say I'm not entirely happy about those, I deactivated the stagger on normal attacks, that was quite annoying IMHO but i'm not very fond of lowered movement speed while swinging, I feel like it kinda wreck the purpose playing light armor + one handed, I like timed blocking, that's a pretty neat feature, but I'm not quite fond of the shield lowering delay, most of the time I land a timed block I find myself bashing because I didn't wait long enough for my shield to lower, I'm not sure which one of the three does that, but I'll have to get rid of it. So what do you guys prefer ? I have not yet tried SPERG and I don't plan to try SkyRe or Requiem right now but please, do tell me how those feel, combat-wise, Requiem is tempting me more and more though. Also I am not really sure about Skyrim Unleashed, i like a challenge and it does sound pretty appealing, but on the other hand i don't really want to spend 10 hours fighting mudcrabs before I can take my first bandit.
  11. Ok so everything was working just fine until yesterday, but today after purchasing the legendary edition to get the two DLCs (dawnguard and dragonborne) and since then I can't launch Skyrim through the SKSE properly, game will crash. It does work without any mods installed but almost any of them will prevent the game from lauching, I've found out a couple of them that I can run, perhaps those who do not require the script extender won't crash my game, I've yet to look into it. What do you guys think ? Also, happy new year everyone !
