  1. If you get her esteem high enough you will get her personal quest, but as Thandal has said no romance.
  2. I'm another one that won't be buying it, why on earth would I want to play house with the deadpan characters in this game and as for "adopting" the children, the first mod I asked for was to be able to kill the cloned brats. I suppose for people with consoles who can't learn modding I can see how this would appeal.
  3. Oh bother, I was thinking of getting it tonight, but after reading this thread I think I'll wait until the bugs are fixed. Do people who don't have any mods installed have problems? Any guesses as to how long it's likely to be before Bethesda patch it?
  4. I'm like you Kasey24, equip everyone from what I loot and find, won't buy anything unless I really have to, but there is a belt I like to buy asap, it's called the Archivist's Sash and you buy it at the Wonders of Thedas in Denerim, it only costs about 75 silver and it gives you +50% XP bonus from codex.
  5. I think I'll use MManager to uninstall my mods, then reinstall later that way if that folder is from something I don't want it should be gone and not come back. I can't remember but I think that mod for Dark Times might have used IA or some parts of it.
  6. Thanks I didn't know about the "digital download" thing that sounds like the way to go. If I move the folders containing saved games, characters and overrides can I move them back again after re-install? I have another question you might be able to advise on, in my core override folder there is a folder called "Core Files REQUIRED" I've no idea what this is could it be something to do with IA?
  7. OH Poo, I had a feeling someone was going to say that, yes I did have it for half a game then removed it. Just to clarify before I throw myself out the window, do you mean uninstall and reinstall the actual game?
  8. I'm playing Origins again after a very long time. I checked all my mods to make sure they were up-to-date, all OK there. I disabled the few mods I use before starting a new game and then enabled them, all seemed to going OK until I got to Lothering and the place outside the gates is full of chickens and people just standing there not moving, not even a tiny bit, they are completely static. I hate not knowing what is going on, can someone tell me if this is something left over from an old mod I no longer have and if so a hint as to what the mod might have been would be really helpful or are there meant to be a load of static people and chickens standing around and my game has bugs.
  9. Thanks Sync182, that is a much better explanation that I could give and it's easily understood. I'm married to my IT guy so don't have to worry about getting ripped off, problem is I sit here looking intelligent while he explains, nod in all the right places and let him get on with it, he wasn't here to ask today.
  10. I'd like to share something I didn't know when I had my PC upgraded last year, sorry I'm not up with the jargon perhaps someone who is can explain better. I only wanted a better graphic card and was told that my power supply wasn't good enough to handle the best card on the market. It seemed at the time that if I replaced X then Y wouldn't cope, then Z wouldn't cope so ended up having the whole thing re-built. I thought you could just replace things and not have to consider other things.
  11. I see this is quite an old post and maybe you have solved your problem, but just in case. As far as I'm aware Alistair can only teach you templar skills if you are a warrior, I don't use cheats so wouldn't be aware if there was a mod to by pass that requirement.
  12. DAOrigins is fantastic, I've never played any RPG like that before, the lack of an open world was more than compensated for by the interaction with companions and getting to know them, lots of different voice actors, I've never, ever played an RPG more than once, Origins I played so many times I lost count, some playathroughs were purely so I could use different mods. Awakening I found very very flat and confining eg. if I didn't do things in a certain order then I couldn't complete everything, there was no real interaction with companions I found that horrible after Origins what interaction there was seemed totally pointless. DA2 I'm currently on my first play through and in what I believe to be Act 3, again compared to Origins I'm not finding it the least bit immersive it's flat like Awakening, the "romance" is pointless and it's so obviously been done on the cheap.
  13. Saw/heard this on NCIS last night, brilliant. Do you think this mean one of the script writers plays Skyrim?
  14. I've played it it through once and I my imagination had to work overtime to get me through to the end, I started to get bored about half way through, can't see I'll play it again, even the mods don't inspire me to want to play it again.
  15. Well, sort of not like DAO. The story has a variety of main paths, all of which must be followed, although the order is up to the player. And one can backtrack and start down another one at several points. At other times, you're locked-in to finishing a particular series of events in a particular sequence (e.g. stretches of "A Paragon of Her Kind".) And of course the game does lead to a specific climax, after which there's not much to do. And while there are many, many, side paths that one can follow, (or ignore) which adds considerable flexibility throughout the game, all the areas are variants on "hallways and rooms" (or "paths and clearings"). Contrast with Oblivion and other "Open World" game environments. There's no real "random wandering anywhere you'd like" in Dragon Age. Can't walk off cliffs or swim rivers in Thedas. So DAO is in a sandbox, it's just a very big one. NOTE: I prefer BioWare's approach in both the DA and ME series to that of Bethesda in Oblivion and Skyrim. I quit playing Skyrim after over 120 hours in-game because it was just too much work for minimal story payback. Still playing DAO/DA2 after years (and looking to re-play NWN2 using the just-relased Icewind Dale mod!) OK, I think I'm understanding this more, DAO made me feel quite restricted in being able to see distances and not go there, I felt I could mostly do quests in what ever order I wanted to, but as you say a big sand box. So if I am understanding this, I would describe Awakening as 'sandbox'. If you didn't do the quests in the right order, you didn't get to put some of the followers through the joining ceremony and it was just go from A to B to C etc I felt like I was playing beat the clock at times. I would pay twice the price for a game that was a combo of DAOrigins and it had an open world like Oblivion/Skyrim. I will probably play Origins again, but not quite yet everything is still too fresh in my mind and it would be nice to forget some of the quests and stuff. Do you think Bioware sacrificed the cost of an open world to put the money into a good story line, voice actors and dialogue and Bethesda sacrifice decent storyline, voice actors and dialogue to make open maps? Thanks for reminding me, I never did get round to playing Icewind Dale, it's still got it's plastic wrap on it. I bought about 6 ???? add-ons/dlc not quite sure and never did play them all. I'll get those out tomorrow and have a look what I've actually got.
