I got this issue aswell, i tried modifying both skyrimprefs.ini files but nothing works, it keeps being grey..

Could someone make a mod like this? i hate the looks of the masks really much but for a mage the Morokei mask is pretty much the best you can get, i like the look of Circlets more (Since my character is female)

I love this idea i hope you'll follow through on it, i'm sure theres some people that modded before that would like to help you with it :) (If you need any help contact me, i know some people who would be able to help with it ;)
