  1. Thanks! And thank you for providing the platform for these competitions, without Nexus Mods the Modathons couldn't exist!
  2. The 2024 Morrowind Modathon Modding Competition is officially over! It was another exciting year with a ton of great mods! Though not quite as many as in past years. Overall, 173 new mods were released for the 2024 Modathon by roughly 89 individual modders with tons of new content! Exciting new quests and adventures, new stories to be told, massive new dungeons to delve through, new card games to play, new mechanics to transform the experience of exploring Morrowind, and plenty more besides! More so than in past years, 2024 was a year for content mods, with a record number of new dungeon mods and a massive number of quest mods tying with last year's record, not to mention a surprising number of new landmasses. We had new stories and adventures co-written by original Morrowind developer Douglas Goodall aka AFFA and Melchior Dahrk with Red Wisdom and The Popular Plague. We had new factions and guilds with Glittergear's The Arcane Watch, Nazz's The Tri-Angled Truth, L'Space by The Wanderer, and The Guiding Guild by Kalinter and ZackHasaCat. We had countless miscellaneous quests, overhauls and expansions for existing factions and questlines, and more besides! 2024 was a quest-lovers delight! And dungeon delvers got more than their fair share too, with quite a few new dungeon overhauls and new locations to discover! From two new dungeon overhauls by Vennin, to Markond's The Woe of Indalen Tomb, to Lord Zarcon's massive dungeon overhaul for the sewers and ruins of Mournhold with the UnderCity, to Glittegear's numerous overhauls for the shrines and caverns of Vvardenfell, the amount of content here is staggering. And that extends to new dungeon-delving adventures too! Including a new landmass dungeon mod by Juidius, Melchior Dahrk, and Seelof Baal Duun - Cursed Isle of the Four Corners. There were new puzzle-based dungeon delves, immersive new audio and voice additions with S.W.I.T and S.E.R.A, a new card-game for you to play with a Round of Flin, turn-based combat overhauls with Baldurwind, stunningly atmospheric locations with Balmora Trading Post and The Song of the Grazelands, new Skyrim-style dynamically animated actors, a massive landscape overhaul for the Inner Sea with Waters of Morrowind, and so many more highlights besides! After 22 years, there is still so much more new content being produced for this amazing game, the Morrowind Modding Community continues to grow and expand, to ever improve and add onto this beautiful alien world! The future is very bright indeed, and there has never been a better time to play Morrowind than right now! But without further ado, let's introduce the winners of the 2024 Morrowind Modathon! Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can, pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say." - J.R.R. Tolkien In the long ago hazy days of an early May, Morrowind was first released, promising a world of adventure, an alien land, foreign and unfamiliar, where countless paths led in countless directions. Now, twenty-two years later, we've explored every road, seen every sight, and yet, the adventure continues. For where Morrowind left off, the modding community continues, building new worlds, new perils, new adventures, new strange sights to see! For twenty-two years, the modding community has been building, creating, adding new content to this beautiful land we call home. And for twenty-two years that community has shown no signs of slowing down! Far from it, the community has grown each year, 2023 was the most active year on record for Morrowind modding with over 1500 new mods released for this over twenty-year old game! So today, in order to celebrate Morrowind's 22nd birthday, we are once again hosting the Morrowind May Modathon Month Modding Competition, and this year is a special one, for it marks our tenth anniversary of the Morrowind Modathons! Begun in 2015, over 1300 mods have been released for the Modathon competitions over the last ten years. The Modathon has gone from a small-scale modding competition to one of the biggest annual events in the entire Elder Scrolls modding community! And like every year before, the Modathon is a free-for-all competition, throughout the entire month of May, modders can participate by releasing mods on the Nexus to get a chance to win weekly random drawing prizes (composed of AAA and indie games), unlock achievements, and compete to win the Masteries by releasing the most popular mod in a particular category! Not only that, but all winners will get trailers, special showcases, and numerous video features on Morrowind Modding Showcases. Winners of the category masteries can also expect special video features, and of course, more prizes! Last year saw some pretty big releases for the 2023 Modathon, from new quest mods by one of Morrowind's original game developers (the estimable Douglas Goodall), to all-new animated fishing gameplay mechanics, to countless new dungeons delves, adventures, graphical improvements, and more! With your help, we can make 2024 the biggest Modathon yet for this amazing community! The best games never die, so let's make Morrowind better than ever before with tons of new mods! Achievements: A core feature of the Modathon, achievements are back, with over 94 new achievement badges that you can earn and unlock by releasing mods! Shiny new badges that you can add to your mod download pages or modder profiles, these achievements are divided into five main categories; Category, Metric, Challenge, Hidden, and Medalist. Each have different requirements, but every mod submitted will unlock at least a few! Compete in weekly themed challenges for unique achievements, try and find hidden achievements based on only a name, and go for gold by releasing the very best mod in a category! I must emphasize that these are *OPTIONAL* challenges, the Morrowind May Modathon has always been and will continue to be a free-for-all modding competition where all are welcome, regardless of themes, but if you'd like to unlock some additional cheevos and get a chance to win some additional prizes, you can try your hand at making a mod to fit one of the weekly themed challenges below. Week 1: May 1st-8th, Make a mod that fits the theme of " Mysticism & Prophecy" - Use the Challenge Header image here to participate. Week 2: May 9th-16th, Make a mod that fits the theme of " Fortune & Woe" - Use the Challenge Header image here to participate. Week 3: May 17th-24nd, Make a mod that fits the theme of " Illusion & Infection" - Use the Challenge Header image here to participate. Week 4: May 25th-June 2nd, Make a mod that fits the theme of " Ruins & Relics" - Use the Challenge Header image here to participate. Can you make a mod to match each theme? Each of these challenges are deliberately designed to be fairly broad and open to interpretation, potentially fitting any of a wide variety of mods, allowing you to let your creativity go wild! Participation and How it Works: You can participate by leaving a short note in the mod description page of your mod at Morrowind Nexus that includes "Part of the May Modathon Month" somewhere near the top of the description or use the "Modathon 2024" tag to mark your mod as a competition entry. Every week, at least five different modders will be selected at random to win a single AAA or Indie game, and the way this works is that we'll compose a list of all participating mods released that week, plug them into a random number generator, and the first five results we get back will be the winners for that week. If you win in one of these weekly drawings, I'll send you a message on the Nexus or Discord notifying you that you've won and providing a list of games you can choose from as your prize. We have over 500 games to give away, so hopefully you'll find something you want on there! Once again this year, for the grand prize winners, we're letting the people decide! The mods with the most endorsements in each category (Gameplay, Immersion, Dungeons, Quests, Landscapes/Landmasses, Player Homes, Graphics and Audio, Towns and Cities, Items, etc....) by July 1st will be declared the masters of those categories, and win additional prizes as a result, including achievements and 2-3 game prizes for each grand winner in each category! We'll be going by whichever categories you upload your mods on the Nexus to, and obviously, some categories (like Weapons and Armor) will be counted under broader categories like "Items". If you have any questions regarding how this will all work, exactly, feel free to post them below! In total, there's 12 categories with Masteries (and other categories of mods will be included under one of the existing categories, if you're posting a mod to Miscellaneous for example, we'll include it under the category that makes sense, depending on the mod, or you can include what category you want it to be included under in the mod description): Companions/Creatures/NPCs Character Customization (heads and hairs, new races, clothing mods) Dungeons Gameplay Mods/Bug Fixes/Patches/UI (Depends on UI mod, some may be categorized as Graphics) Graphics Mods/Animations/Audio/Shaders Immersion Mods Items/Weapons/Armor/Books/Etc... Landscapes/Landmasses Modder's Resources/Utilities Player Homes Quests/Guilds&Factions Towns and Cities Rules: Overall this competition and giveaway is pretty easy to understand, and there aren't a whole lot of rules involved, but there are a few things we should clear up just in case. First, all types of mods are perfectly acceptable. From texture replacers to gameplay tweaks to content mods like house mods, quest mods, or dungeon mods. All of those are fine and will be accepted for the competition! The only kind of mod that will NOT be accepted is cheat mods, i.e. placing a barrel full of loot in the middle of Seyda Neen or placing a Daedric longsword in the Census and Excise Office. Cheat mods like that will not be considered for the competition. Also, we accept both tes3mp and OpenMW mods, as well as MWSE Lua mods! Regardless of which platform your mod is designed to work with, all will be accepted! Second, all submitted mods must be, at least for the most part, safe for work. Questionable content is acceptable so long as it isn't the entire mod, remember we have to showcase these and we can't showcase adult-themed mods on the channel! Also, it should be pointed out that for larger mod projects, you can submit a demo or playable beta of your mod as part of the competition and it'll be perfectly acceptable. I do need to stress that it must absolutely be playable though. Any mod that crashes to desktop upon loading the game will not be considered. In addition, we ask that all participating modders please only release a *maximum* of 5 mods per day, there were some issues in past years with mods immediately getting buried, and we want everyone to have a chance to have their mods get seen! Also, we won't be counting very quick CS edit mods as counting towards achievements, in order to encourage less spam. Remember, this only applies to mods released in May, so let's all get to modding and make this the big 22nd Anniversary that Morrowind truly deserves! If you don't know how to mod, check out our Let's Mod Morrowind series for a visual guide to modding - including interiors, basic scripting, and quest design. Want to check out our past Modathons? 4. Announcing the Winners of the 2022 Morrowind May Modathon Competition: Its taken us a while, but we're finally ready to announce the winners of the 2022 May Modathon Competition! With 299 mods submitted by an estimated 115 individual modders, the 2022 Modathon has been, by far, the most competitive event in Morrowind's modding history, both in terms of the sheer quantity of mods submitted and in terms of the quality of those mods. Out of those 299 mods, we've narrowed down the results to 12 winning mods in 11 categories, with 11 mods in the runner up position. As a quick reminder, we have 11 grand-prize categories for the competition, one for each type of mod, with the most endorsed mod in each category (as of July 1st) winning that category's grand prize. 5. The 2022 Morrowind May Modathon Month Modding Competition, celebrating Morrowind's 20th anniversary, is officially over! And wow, it was an absolute record-breaking year with hundreds of new mod releases! Overall, just under 300 new mods were released for the 2022 Modathon by 115 individual modders, covering everything from massive new dungeons to new gameplay mechanics, entire new factions with dozens of quests to play through, beautiful new landscape additions, scenic new graphical replacers and just about everything else that you can think of! The amount of new content released in May dwarfs anything we've seen before for Morrowind, with so many notable highlights, like Astrologian's Guild, a massive new faction and quest mod with over a dozen hours of content, or NecroCraft, a gameplay mod that adds a fully functional necromancy system to Morrowind, or the massive dungeon mods of Of Eggs and Dwarves and The Hive of Baan Binif, adding some truly scenic dungeons for you to explore and fight through, and who can forget Dwemer Cycle, the first fully-functional motorcycle mod for Morrowind? Not to mention the countless other equally impressive and high-quality mods released for this year's Modathon! Even after 20 years, the Morrowind Modding Community continues to thrive, reaching new heights and making more and more content for this amazing game! Truly, we are living through a golden age of Morrowind, and with so many fantastic mods released, there can only be more bright things ahead! The grand prize winners of the competition will be announced on July 1st! In the meantime, we're still sending out achievements and prizes for our random-drawing winners, so please be patient as we gradually get to everyone! But anyway, as always, we have a full breakdown of all the mods submitted for the Modathon, all 299 of them, down below, organized by mod category! Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can, pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say." - J.R.R. Tolkien Twenty years, a generation ago, a lifetime ago, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was released in the early days of May 2002, bringing with it a strange new alien world, full of mystery and wonder, a world quite unlike anything we had seen before. Morrowind was a foreign shore, home to countless strange and unusual sights, from the very first silt strider, to the very last beat of a cliff racer's wings. It was full of danger but also beauty, giving us the freedom to explore and to build our own path in this wondrous alien land. Now, twenty years later, the alien is far more familiar, and far from being foreign, Morrowind is home, a home that we come back to, again and again, each time discovering something new, or adding something that was missing before. For Morrowind was one of the first games to truly fully embrace modding, giving us, the players, the ability to craft whole new adventures, build whole new worlds, and to improve upon every aspect of what was there before. After 20 years, Morrowind is home to a growing, bustling modding community that not only continues to thrive, but which has grown remarkably over the past few years, with over a thousand new mods released each year! So today, in order to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of this truly remarkable and one-of-a-kind game that we all know and love, we're once again hosting a May Modathon Month, the 8th Annual Modding Competition for the community, which has become the largest annual modding competition in the entire TES modding scene! Throughout the entire month of May, participating modders on the Nexus who submit Morrowind mods could get a chance to win indie or AAA games each week. Likewise, all participating mods will be entered to win one of the Masteries, by becoming the most popular mod in a particular category! Not only that, but all winners will get trailers, special showcases, and numerous video features on Morrowind Modding Showcases. I must emphasize that these are OPTIONAL challenges, the Morrowind May Modathon has always been and will continue to be a free-for-all modding competition where all are welcome, regardless of themes, but if you'd like to unlock some additional cheevos and get a chance to win some additional prizes, you can try your hand at making a mod to fit one of the weekly themed challenges below. Week 1: May 1st-7th, Make a mod that fits the theme of "Blood & Faith" (Use the header image here to participate) Week 2: May 8th-14th, Make a mod that fits the theme of "Vanity & Alteration" (Use the header image here to participate) Week 3: May 15th-21st, Make a mod that fits the theme of "Hunted & Chaos" (Use the header image here to participate) Week 4: May 22nd-28th, Make a mod that fits the theme of "Love & Crime" (Use the header image here to participate) Week 5: May 29th-June 2nd, Make a mod that fits the theme of "Secret & Escape" (Use the header image here to participate)Can you make a mod to match each theme? Each of these challenges are deliberately designed to be fairly broad and open to interpretation, potentially fitting any of a wide variety of mods, allowing you to let your creativity go wild! Participation and How it Works: You can participate by leaving a short note in the mod description page of your mod at Morrowind Nexus that includes "Part of the May Modathon Month" somewhere near the top of the description or use the "Modathon 2022" tag to mark your mod as a competition entry. Unlike in past years, we'll be deterring the \winners of the Modathon by category, so the mods with the highest endorsements in each of our competition categories by June 30th will be declared the winners. We'll be going by whichever categories you upload your mods on the Nexus to, and obviously, some categories (like Weapons and Armor) will be counted under broader categories like "Items". If you have any questions regarding how this will all work, exactly, feel free to post them below! In total, there's 11 categories with Masteries (and other categories of mods will be included under one of the existing categories, if you're posting a mod to Miscellaneous for example, we'll include it under the category that makes sense, depending on the mod, or you can include what category you want it to be included under in the mod description): Companions/Creatures/NPCs Dungeons Gameplay Mods/Bug Fixes/Patches/UI (Depends on UI mod, some may be categorized as Graphics) Graphics Mods/Animations/Audio/Shaders Immersion Mods Items/Weapons/Armor/Books/Etc... Landscapes/Landmasses Modder's Resources/Utilities Player Homes Quests/Guilds&Factions Towns and CitiesRules: Overall this competition and giveaway is pretty easy to understand, and there aren't a whole lot of rules involved, but there are a few things we should clear up just in case. In addition, we ask that all participating modders please only release a maximum of 5 mods per day, there were some issues in past years with mods immediately getting buried, and we want everyone to have a chance to have their mods get seen! Also, we won't be counting very quick CS edit mods as counting towards achievements, in order to encourage less spam. Remember, this only applies to mods released in May, so let's all get to modding and make this the big 20th Anniversary that Morrowind truly deserves! If you don't know how to mod, check out our Let's Mod Morrowind series for a visual guide to modding - including interiors, basic scripting, and quest design. If you have any questions about this event, please leave a comment or send me a message! Want to check out our past Modathons? Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can, pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say." - J.R.R. Tolkien In the early days of May 2002, a little game was released called The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, the third entry in a relatively obscure series, filled with ambitious concepts and ideas that would ultimately pay off, saving Bethesda from bankruptcy, selling millions of copies, and becoming one of the most popular games for modding at the turn of the century. Now for most games, that would be where the story ends, but the greatest games never die, and Morrowind continues to live on, not just surviving, but thriving, and 19 years later is home to a growing modding community that has more than doubled in size in the last few years, building new worlds, crafting new adventures, and creating new experiences for this amazing game, with over a thousand new mods released each year, including over 1300 new mods released last year alone! Now today, in order to celebrate the 19th Anniversary of this truly remarkable and one-of-a-kind game that we all know and love, we're once again hosting a May Modathon Month, the 7th Annual Modding Competition for the community, which has become the largest annual modding competition in the entire TES modding scene! Throughout the entire month of May, participating modders on the Nexus and Morrowind Modding Hall who submit Morrowind mods could get a chance to win indie or AAA games each week. Likewise, all participating mods will be entered to win one of the Masteries, by becoming the most popular mod in a particular category! Not only that, but all winners will get trailers, special showcases, and numerous video features on Morrowind Modding Showcases. And the winners of the category Masteries will naturally get featured in our Mod of the Month series, celebrating the best mods released for Morrowind each month. Not only that, but this year we're once again handing out achievements, little badges that you can unlock and plug into your mod download pages! The 2020 Modathon was one of the biggest modding competitions held for an Elder Scrolls game, with about 230 new mods getting submitted by dozens of different modders, and with your help, we can make this year an even bigger success! The best games never die, so let's make Morrowind better than ever before with tons of new mods! Every week five different modders will be selected at random to win a single AAA or Indie game, and the way this works is that we'll compose a list of all participating mods released that week, plug them into a random number generator, and the first five results we get back will be the winners for that week. We have about 300 games to give away, so hopefully you'll find something you want on there! Now, we're doing something a little differently this year for the grand prizes, instead of having a judged competition where there's one grand winner at the end of the month, this year we're having multiple winners and we're letting the people decide! The mods with the most endorsements (or reviews, in the case of mods uploaded to Morrowind Modding Hall) in each category (Gameplay, Immersion, Dungeons, Quests, Landscapes/Landmasses, Player Homes, Graphics and Audio, Towns and Cities, Items, etc....) by June 30th will be declared the masters of those categories, and win additional prizes as a result, including achievements and 2-3 game prizes for each grand winner in each category! We'll be going by whichever categories you upload your mods on the Nexus to, and obviously, some categories (like Weapons and Armor) will be counted under broader categories like "Items". The 2021 Morrowind Spring Modjam - A 48-Hour Modding Competition - April 3rd-4th Organized by Danae, Hosted by Morrowind Modding Showcases This coming April 3rd, we'll be hosting a new Morrowind modding competition, the third of our Morrowind Modjams, and the first ever Spring Modjam! In the traditional style of the gamejams of the past, modders will have a single weekend, 48 hours, to come up with, make, and release a mod on the Nexus before time runs out! Of course, it isn't as simple as all that, all submitted mods will have to match a theme, as voted on by the public and revealed just before the competition begins! Over 60 themes have been submitted so far, and you can go ahead and start voting for which themes you'd like to see right now! On Friday, April 2nd at 23.00 GMT (or 6pm EST), you can join in on the official Modjam livestream, hosted by DanaePlays, to vote on the final round of themes, win prizes, and chat with modders before the competition officially kicks off! Not a modder yourself? You can still participate by playing and endorsing the mods that get submitted for the Modjam, the most endorsed mod by April 10th will win the Player's Choice Award! And of course, there's plenty of time to learn how to mod, so you can always check out Danae's Tutorial series or the Let's Mod Morrowind series from Morrowind Modding Showcases. After the competition is over, Danae will be hosting a second livestream on April 10th where a number of the mods from the Modjam will be showcased, along with chats with the mod authors, and the official Modjam winner announcements! For more information, make sure to stop by the Discord server! I hope you'll join us for our third Modjam, and of course, more importantly, have fun with the competition! Best of luck to the modders, and as always, long live Morrowind!
  9. Morrowind Modding Madness Season 5: The Modders Strike Back A Team-Based Modding Competition Starting December 1st ~ December 31st Register Your Modding Teams Below! Need help finding a team? Stop by the Morrowind Modding Community Discord or the Morrowind Modding Madness Discord and let people know you want to join a team! Registered Teams (Links go to Nexus Profiles): Team Ancient Androids - EnclaveKiller, Tel Shadow, RubberMan, Safebox and Stripes Team Scuttling Scribs - Danae, Merlord, Melchior Dahrk, ProfArmitage and Xerofoxx Team Sassy Sharmats - Vidi_Aquam, Tiefling, Orion, Overwatch, and Alkalimetal Team Voluptuous Velks - OperatorJack, Wolli, RedFurryDemon, Greatness7, and Selengor Team Lazy Lame Corprus Stalkers - Autoclock, Brujoloco, Lucevar, RandomPal, and Vegetto Team Tenacious .T(emplars) - Ruffin Vangarr, Caeris, Sataniel, Endoran and Draconik Morrowind Modding Madness is back for a special 2020 pandemic round of juicy Sheogorath-filled insanity to take your mind off this already mad year! After all, the patron saint of all modders, Lord Sheogorath, still hungers for new creations to feast upon, and he won't be sated until a new set of tributes brings forth a plethora of new modding goodies! As such, Morrowind Modding Madness has once again been proclaimed, and will begin December 1st and end on December 31st! Modders will have to form teams, compete in modding challenges, and rise through the ranks to make the absolute best mods they can and claim the throne of Madness as the ultimate modding champions of 2020! Given that this is our fifth season, doubtless many of you are already familiar with our competition, but for those who aren't, Morrowind Modding Madness is a team-based competition in the vein of our annual Modathons (which are held in May), but with a twist where modders have to form teams and face specific modding challenges by coming up with, designing, and releasing an entire mod in a limited time frame. I've included a breakdown of how this competition works, how you can register and signup for the competition, as well as some of our potential prizes down below. But first, for those familiar with Morrowind Modding Madness, this year will represent a few notable changes over past competitions. One of the constant themes of Madness has been the principal of multiple challenges over short periods of time, but we're doing away with that this year. Instead, there will be only one challenge for the entire month, and teams will have all four weeks to build the best mod they can using a randomly generated theme, to be announced on December 1st. There's a few other changes with this year's setup, but you'll find more about that down below. Don't know how to make mods? Check out our Let's Mod Morrowind tutorial videos! You can still signup by December 1st! How It Works: 1. Form and Register Your Modding Teams This a team-based modding competition, that means you need to form a modding team and register it in order to enter the competition, and given the timeframe of this competition and the number of veteran modders involved, you're going to want at least one partner to share the load with! Modding teams can be composed of a minimum of two modders and a maximum of five modders, and ideally, you'll want to gather a team of modders from different fields in order to make the most creative mod possible. Making a quest is always a good way to boost your mod, but what if one of the opposing teams has a talented modeler? Certainly you can outmatch their innovation by just using vanilla assets, but do you really want to take that chance? Likewise, a professional scripter will make your mods come alive, and that might well give you the edge in this creative battle of wits and madness. Whoever you pick to be on your team, you'll need to work together, collaborate, plan out your mods, and successfully release them on time in order to win and claim the top prize. In order to register your modding team for the competition, you need to first make sure you've got a list of your fellow modders who you want to team up with and who have agreed to work with you, then you need to come up with a team name (nothing offensive, I will rename your team if you submit something inappropriate!) and submit that team name along with your list of modders in a post either here or on [r/Morrowind](https://www.reddit.com/r/Morrowind/comments/jsc36g/morrowind_modding_madness_2020_a_teambased/?) by NO LATER than the end of the day December 1st. New teams CANNOT apply for the competition after December 1st, that's when the competition starts and we need to have a firm list of participating teams by then! Once you've got your modding team assembled, be ready to start on December 1st with the first and only challenge for this year's Madness! 2. Meet the Challenges and Rise Through the Ranks Normally, Morrowind Modding Madness has two or more challenges for teams to compete in, but this year, we're reducing that down to just one challenge, and each team will have to make a mod that fits the challenge criteria in a single four-week timeframe. This year's challenge will be a randomly generated set of themes and criteria that each mod will have to meet in some possible way, and this could mean that we'll see some truly bizarre theme combinations that will hopefully lead to some really creative results. Now, alternatively to releasing just one mod, teams could also choose to release a series of smaller mods designed to work together, keeping in mind that, collectively, they'll still need to match the randomly generated criteria. In addition, this year we're introducing randomly generated optional objectives, which teams can pursue in order to secure extra prizes (though these optional objectives will not affect the end score judging). These optional objectives could be things like; adding a quest with multiple branching outcomes, building a telvanni tower player stronghold, adding a new tavern or shop to the game, or any of a number just random objectives, which may or may not fit in with the core themes and criteria that each mod must meet. In any event, in order for your mods to count towards the competition, when you release a mod for one of the challenges, remember to include a line at the top that says 'Part of the Morrowind Modding Madness Competition' and a line right below that with your team name like "Team Cliffracer" or something like that. Your mod will automatically be entered into the competition and be sent to our judging panel for scoring. You must upload your mods to Morrowind Nexus in order for them to be counted for the competition (we'll alternatively accept other uploading sites, assuming you send us a link to where we can find the mod). At the end of the competition, all mods submitted by each team will be featured in one big finale showcase video, so all mods will receive roughly equal attention on Morrowind Modding Showcases, regardless of when you submitted your mods. Keep in mind, you MUST release your mods by the end of December! There's a 24 hour grace period to account for timezones and uploading issues, but no mods released after January 1st will be accepted! Special Note: Just to be clear, you can submit both MWSE and OpenMW mods for the competition! There are no restrictions with regards to MWSE, Lua, or OpenMW development! 3. Earn Points from the Judges Once again this year, we'll be using a completely judge-based scoring system, with scores tilted in favor of creativity. At the end of the competition, judges will go through and play each mod for the next 7 to 10 days, and the results of their scoring will be posted publicly. And to go detail regarding the scoring, each mod (or collection of mods) can receive a max of 100 points for the competition, broken down into three categories. Here's the criteria that each judge will be looking at for each mod: 20 Points for Mod Functionality (Mod does what it's supposed to and is also clean of GMSTs/Dirty Refs) 50 Points for Mod Innovation (Is the mod original and creative?) 30 Points for Judge Preference (Did the judge enjoy/like the mod?)4. Prizes As always with these competitions, we have a fairly large set of prizes set aside for modders to win, both for the overall competition, and for any bonus objectives that modders might try and meet. Besides the fame and glory of coming out ahead of your fellow modding teams in gladiatorial creativity, the top three teams will get a set of Steam and indie game prizes that they can choose from, not to mention the overall competition winners will of course be declared the Ultimate Modding Champions of 2020 with all the bragging rights that entails! Without question, 2020 has been one of the greatest years of Morrowind modding in recent memory, with over 1200 new mods released for Morrowind so far this year, more than all of 2019 combined, and more than at any point since 2005/2006! While a pandemic may rage outside our doors, inside this community, we're in the midst of a golden age for Morrowind modding, and I certainly hope we'll be able to keep that momentum going through the dark months ahead with yet another exciting modding competition! Best of luck to all of the contestants, I hope this competition can be a fun, distracting, and exciting event for all of you, and may the best modding team win! Happy Modding and May The Best Games Never Die!
  10. The Morrowind 2020 Summer Modjam - A 48-Hour Long Modding Competition! Starts August 15th-16th! The Summer Modjam Theme is "Ashlanders"! You have until August 17th at 5am EDT/10am GMT to release your mods for the Summer Modjam on the Nexus! Today we're announcing the Morrowind Summer Modjam Modding Competition, the second of our bi-annual modjams hosted in the proud tradition of the gamejams of the past! Much like our Winter Modjam from back in February, the Summer Modjam will be another 48 hour modding extravaganza, where modders will have just one weekend to come up with, design, and release a mod that matches a theme chosen by the community! The Summer Modjam begins August 15th and goes through to the 16th, participating modders will have their skills and endurance tested as never before, with limited time to make their ideas a reality and release their completed mods on the Nexus before the 48 hour window is up! But before we can even get to the Modjam itself, we need the community to suggest and pick a theme that our modders will have to use for their Modjam submissions! Got an idea for a theme you'd like to see used in the Modjam? Use our Google Submission form to submit your theme suggestion, and we'll be taking new theme suggestions up until August 5th. After that, we'll hold a poll with all of themes submitted where you guys can vote and pick what will ultimately be our modding theme for the Summer Modjam! On August 14th, or rather a few hours before the Modjam begins, we'll announce the winning theme for the Summer Modjam, and any and all participating modders will have to try and come up with ideas to match the chosen theme before the Modjam begins. All mods submitted for the Modjam must involve the winning theme to some degree. The only other requirement for releasing mods as part of the Modjam is a tag or line in the mod description reading "Part of the Summer 2020 Modjam". But with that out of the way, let's talk prizes and judging! The Summer Modjam will be a judged event, with a panel of three judges that'll go through and play all of the submitted mods for the Modjam and pick their favorites. The top three by common consensus will be declared the winners of the Modjam! But we also have a player component involved, with the Player's Choice Award, where the mod with the highest endorsement to unique download ratio by August 31st will win the Player's Choice badge! As for prizes, we'll once again be giving away a ton of games, as well as video features for submitted mods on Morrowind Modding Showcases, and giving out png badges/achievements to all participating modders! Just one other thing to note, you can submit mods for the Modjam as part of a collaboration effort with another modder (or modders), or utilize modder's resources, or do a solo-mod. The only rule is no cheat mods! The competition begins on Saturday, August 15th at 12AM EDT/5AM GMT and ends on August 17th at 5AM EDT/10AM GMT (there's a short grace period in case of uploading issues). Anyway, I hope you'll join us for our second Modjam, and of course, more importantly, have fun with the competition! Stay tuned for more information as we gather theme suggestions! Best of luck to the modders, and long live Morrowind!

Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can, pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say." - J.R.R. Tolkien In the early days of May 2002, a little game came out called The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, a little known series, but it would go on to save Bethesda from bankruptcy, sell millions of copies, and become the most popular game for modding at the turn of the century. For most games, that would be where the story ends, but the greatest games never die, and Morrowind continues to live on, not just surviving, but thriving, and 18 years later is home to a growing modding community that continues to build new worlds, craft new adventures, and create new experiences for this amazing game, with over 1000 new mods released last year alone! Now today, in order to celebrate the 18th Anniversary of this truly remarkable and one-of-a-kind game that we all know and love, we're once again hosting a May Modathon Month, the 6th Annual Modding Competition for the community, which has become the largest annual modding competition in the entire TES modding scene! Throughout the entire month of May, participating modders on the Nexus , The Assimilation Lab and GHF who submit Morrowind mods could get a chance to win indie or AAA games each week. Likewise, all participating mods will be entered to win the Mod of the Month Award, with a ton of games as a prize! Not only that, but all winners will get trailers, special showcases, and numerous video features on Morrowind Modding Showcases. And the winner of the Mod of the Month award will naturally get featured in our Mod of the Month series, celebrating the best mods released for Morrowind each month. Not only that, but this year we're once again handing out achievements, little badges that you can unlock and plug into your mod download pages! Last year's Modathon surpassed the 2018 Modathon to become the biggest modding competition ever held for an Elder Scrolls game, with 240 mods submitted by 81 different modders, and with your help, we can make this year an even bigger success! The best games never die, so let's make Morrowind better than ever before with tons of new mods! Achievements: Achievements Flyer Once again this year, we're including achievements that you can earn and unlock by releasing mods! These are little badges that you can plug into your mod download pages, and we have over 70 achievements that you can unlock! Release a quest mod? Achievement Unlocked! Get over 100 downloads? Every week two to three different modders will be selected at random to win a single AAA or Indie game, and the way this works is that we'll compose a list of all participating mods released that week, plug them into a random number generator, and the top three results we get back will be the winners for that week. If you win in one of these weekly drawings, I'll send you a message on the Nexus, GHF, TAL, or some other forum board notifying you that you've won and providing a list of games you can choose from as your prize. We have about 200 games to give away, so hopefully you'll find something you want on there! The second way you can win is through the grand prize, the mod of the month award with 5~8 games as prizes. This award is determined by our judges who'll be going through and rating each mod in the entire event on a simple numerical scale. The scale they'll be using can be found below: 4 Points for Mod Creativity or Innovation (Does the mod demonstrate ingenuity; creative use of mod tools, game assets, scripted events, resources, etc; new solution(s) to challenge(s) and/or subject(s)?) 4 Points for Judge Preference (How well the judges liked the mod) 2 Points for Mod Functionality (Cleaning, Works, Are there bugs?)The total points possible for any mod is 30, or a 10 out of 10 from each judge. In the event of a tie, we should have enough games to go around for all. Indeed, we have over 200 games in stock to give away, so if you collaborate on a mod with someone else, regardless of which of the two ways you can win, everyone involved will still get something for their efforts. Rules: Overall this competition and giveaway is pretty easy to understand, and there aren't a whole lot of rules involved, but there are a few things we should clear up just in case. Remember, this only applies to mods released in May, so let's all get to modding and make this the 18th Anniversary that Morrowind deserves! If you don't know how to mod, check out our Let's Mod Morrowind series for a visual guide to modding - including interiors, basic scripting, and quest design. 12. The 2020 Morrowind Winter Modjam - February 29th-March 1st 48 Hours - Three Themes - One Mod From the creators of Morrowind Modding Madness and the Morrowind May Modathon Month, the biggest annual modding competition in the gaming community, comes a new series of bi-annual events, the Morrowind Modjams! Twice a year, once in Summer and once in Winter, we'll be hosting these modjams in the proud tradition of the gamejams of the past, where modders will have one weekend, just 48 hours, to come up with, design, and release a mod that matches one of three different themes! Starting on February 29th and going through to March 1st, participating modders will have their skills and endurance tested as never before, with limited time to make their ideas a reality and release their completed mods on the Nexus before the 48 hour window is up! Unlike past competitions, this is a judge-free event, but we'll still be giving out png badges/achievements to all participating modders, and everyone will be entered to win randomly drawn prizes from our pool of indie and AAA games (with some 220+ games to choose from)! In addition, the top 10 mods from the Modjam, in terms of endorsements and downloads (by March 15th), will get their own video features on Morrowind Modding Showcases! As for how it works, on February 28th at 6pm (-6 UTC Time aka American Central Time) we'll be revealing our three Modjam themes, so modders will have a bit of time to try and come up with ideas to match one of the themes before the Modjam begins. All mods released for the Modjam must involve one of the three themes to some degree. Otherwise, the only other requirement is to release a mod on the Nexus within the 48-hour window with a tagline at the top of the mod description reading "Part of the Winter 2020 Modjam". You can submit a mod as part of a collaboration effort with another modder (or modders), or utilize modder's resources, or do a solo-mod. The only rule is no cheat mods! The Winter Modjam 2020 Themes have been revealed! 1. The Merchants - Mods overhauling shops, adding mercantile gameplay mechanics, adding new items for sale, etc...2. The Wastelands - Mods overhauling the Ashlands, Molag Amur, or Red Mountain regions, either by overhauling landscapes, or otherwise adding new content to these areas, or adding in new gameplay effects (potentially related to Blight and Ash storms), etc...3. The Daedra - Mods adding in new Daedra, touching upon Daedric artifacts, overhauling Daedric shrines, or adding new Daedric-related content, etc... The competition begins on Saturday, February 29th at 12:00AM -6 UTC time (10pm American West Coast, 1am American East Coast, 6am for the UK, 7am for central Europe) and ends on 6:00am -6 UTC time on March 2nd (4am American West Coast, 7am American East Coast, 12pm for the UK, 1pm for central Europe). I hope you'll join in for our first Modjam, and more importantly, have fun with the competition! We'll be revealing the themes tomorrow so best of luck to the modders, and long live Morrowind!
  13. Morrowind Modding Madness Season 4: A New Hope A Team-Based Modding Competition Starting October 1st ~ October 31st Register Your Modding Teams in the Comments! Need help finding a team? Stop by the Morrowind Modding Community Discord or the Morrowind Modding Madness Discord and let people know you want to join a team! Four weeks, two themes, two mods, only one team of modders will rise up to claim the throne as the ultimate modding champions of 2019! Madness has returned for a fourth year, our Lord Sheogorath still craves to be sated, and only an entire month dedicated to intense insanity driven challenges can possibly quench his unending thirst! To satisfy our Lord Sheogorath, Morrowind Modding Madness has been proclaimed anew, starting October 1st and going through to October 31st where modders form teams, compete and vanquish challenges, and rise through the ranks to become the ultimate modding champions of 2019 with all the sweet prizes that entails! Once again modders will be called upon to face their fellow modders in mod on mod, gladiatorial creativity, the likes of which can only be driven by that Lord of Madness himself! With that out of the way, let's introduce the 2019 Morrowind Modding Madness competition, a team-based competition in the vein of our annual Morrowind Modathons, but with a twist where modders have to form teams and face bi-weekly modding challenges by coming up with, designing, and releasing an entire mod in only two week's time to make it to the top by Halloween (October 31st). I've included a breakdown of how this competition works, how you can register and signup for the competition, as well as potential prizes down below. But first, this year represents one major twist! Each of our challenges this year will revolve around overhauling or expanding something from the vanilla game! That means factions, towns, landscapes, quests, dungeons, or locations from around Vvardenfell could be the target of one of this year's randomly selected themes! But you can find out more about that by checking out the Challenges section down below! Don't know how to make mods? Check out our Let's Mod Morrowind tutorial videos! You can still signup by October 1st! How It Works: 1. Form and Register Your Modding Teams This a team-based modding competition, that means you need to form a modding team and register it in order to enter the competition, and trust me, with the way this competition is setup, you're going to want to have at least one teammate to work with. Now modding teams can be composed of a minimum of two modders and a maximum of four modders, and ideally, you'll want to gather a team of modders from different fields in order to make the most creative mod possible. In order to register your modding team for the competition, you need to first make sure you've got a list of your fellow modders who you want to team up with and who have agreed to work with you, then you need to come up with a team name (nothing offensive, I will rename your team if you submit something inappropriate!) and submit that team name along with your list of modders in a post either here or on one of our forum threads at Great House Fliggerty, or r/tes3mods by NO LATER than the end of the day October 1st. New teams CANNOT apply for the competition after October 1st, that's when the competition starts and we need to have a firm list of participating teams by then! Once you've got your modding team assembled, be ready to start on October 1st with the first wave of modding challenges! 2. Meet the Challenges and Rise Through the Ranks As always, in order to make it to the top and win the competition, each team must survive two modding challenges, and once again this year, you'll get two weeks to meet each challenge. That means you'll have an entire 14 days from the time a challenge theme is announced to build and release a mod that fits that theme. The theme will only be revealed the day before the challenge starts, so each modding team only has two weeks to prepare, build and release a mod of their own making. With such a short window of mod development, teams will need to strategize, either join together and collaborate on one mod to get it done faster, or divide off and build individual mods to try and guess the upcoming themes ahead of time and get more mods finished. Unlike in past years, our themes this year are focused around overhauling and expanding vanilla content. In total, we have five different potential categories, including dungeons, factions, landscapes, quests, and towns. This is a by far smaller pool of categories than in past years, and the goal of each of these categories will be to enhance, overhaul, or expand some part of the vanilla game. This is a bit more of a narrow focus than our typical modding competitions, but there's still plenty of room for creativity and madness with each of these categories! And you can upload your mods to both Morrowind Nexus or Great House Fliggerty, both sites will work fine for mod releases. At the end of each challenge, all mods submitted by each team will be featured in one big weekly wrap-up video on the channel, so all mods will receive equal attention on the channel, regardless of where you post your mods for the competition. Keep in mind, you MUST release your mods by the end of each challenge's 14 day period to be counted towards the competition, we will not accept late entries! There are definite deadlines here! At the end of each challenge, judges will go through and play each mod for the next 7 to 10 days, and the results of their scoring will be posted publicly, so teams will know how they're ranking so far in the competition. Each mod contributes a bit to the team's ranked score, so if a team has one fantastic mod, but didn't meet any of the other challenges, they could still lose the competition as a whole, hence collaboration and working together will be key to winning victory. And to go a bit into some detail here, the total score that each mod can receive for the competition is 10 points. Hypothetically, if you release one amazing mod that everyone loves, your maximum score is 10 points, but another team could release two semi-good mods that each get six points each and they'd technically be ahead of you in score, so the goal isn't just to release one great mod, it's to make sure you manage your time well, meet the themes, and release a lot of good mods over in order to stay competitive with the other teams. Here's the criteria that each judge will be looking at for each mod: 2 Points for Mod Functionality (Mod does what it's supposed to and is also clean of GMSTs/Dirty Refs) 5 Points for Mod Innovation (Is the mod original and creative?) 3 Points for Judge Preference (Did the judge enjoy/like the mod?)4. Prizes As always with these competitions, we have a fairly large set of prizes set aside for modders to win, both for each individual challenge, and overall for the entire competition. Besides the fame and glory of coming out ahead of your fellow modding teams in gladiatorial creativity, each team that gets the highest mod score each week will get a set of Steam and Indie game prizes that they can choose from, and the grand prize winners will get a ton of Steam and Indie games as well, and not only that, they'll be declared the Ultimate Modding Champions of 2019 with all the bragging rights that entails! To be sure, 2019 has been a great year as far as Morrowind modding is concerned! So far, the community has released some 760 new mods for Morrowind in 2019, more than all of 2018 combined, and for the first time since the mid-2000s, the community is on track to release over 900 new mods by the end of the year! This is Morrowind's second golden age, and I can only hope we can keep the momentum going with yet another exciting modding competition! Best of luck to all of the contestants, I hope this competition can be a fun and exciting event for all of you, and may the best modding team win! Happy Modding and May The Best Games Never Die!
  14. In response to post #70176668. Aye, its been an amazing month! We had about 240 mods submitted for the Modathon, which aye, is probably the most active the Morrowind Modding Community has been since the days of Morrowind Summit! It truly is a new golden age of Morrowind modding! But anyway, if you need a full list of participating mods, including a post organizing them all into categories, you can find one here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/7602730-morrowind-may-modathon-month-2019-celebrating-17-years-of-morrowind/ And yeah, I'd definitely recommend getting into modding and releasing mods, the community could always use more mods and modders, and this is definitely an exciting time to be involved in the modding scene! :)
  15. The fifth annual Morrowind May Modathon Month Modding Competition, celebrating Morrowind's 17th anniversary, is officially over! And boy, what an exciting and wild ride this competition has been! Not only has this been the biggest modding competition in Elder Scrolls, or indeed, gaming modding history, but this has also been the single biggest month in Morrowind modding since 2004! With over 241 new mod releases by some 81 different modders, this was a truly massive and one of a kind event, the likes of which we may never see again. Over the last five weeks, a couple hundred new gameplay features, landmasses, quest mods, dungeon mods, immersive additions, graphical replacers, house mods, and everything else you can imagine was released by new and veteran modders alike, with countless new rising stars in the community seeking to make their impact in the competition, and dozens of modding veterans looking to hold their place as modding masters in a very crowded field. With so many new mods, providing so much new content and new ways to play the game, this competition will doubtless go down in history as one of the great turning points of the community for a new golden age of Morrowind Modding! Far from being dead, our community is as strong now as ever, and the future looks very bright indeed! To just put this month in comparison, the community only released 350 mods in all of 2014, and only 732 mods in all of 2018. And somehow, the modding community managed to release nearly 33% of all the mods from 2018 in a single month! This means we're well on our way to breaking more new records for 2019! But as exciting as this post-analysis is, we do have a full breakdown of all submitted mods down below, organized by mod category! We also have a new list of random-drawing winners for the final week of the competition, and of course our judges will be announcing the final top 3 winners of this year's Modathon sometime in July, after they somehow find the time to play through and rate them all. Anyway, here's the complete list of all mods submitted for the competition: Companion Mods: Gizmo the Guar Fabricant Companion By Melchior Dahrk Publius Claudius Follower By Gavrilo93 and Caeris The Followers By RubberManCreature Mods: Undead Mutant Zombie Bonewalkers By Stripes Dwemer Steam Centurion Bomber By Stripes Concept Art Scrib By Leyawynn Riders By Rot STFU Cliff Racers By MerlordDungeon and Location Mods: Passage of Prayers -
