Drugs - What do you think is acceptable, where is the line?
Turian3 replied to DrunkenGamer's topic in Debates
In my experiance my marijuna use has not effected me negativly academically or physically. Now granted I don't smoke everyday however I believe i do enough to constitute regular use. It is absolutely outrageous that this plant is illegal when alchoel is not. As long as no one is being hurt then I say legalize all drugs. If these substances were all sold in safe and regulated enviroments it is very likely that many problems associated with drug use would go down, like crime. A truley free society can not control what substances people put in there body. -
Lol reading the post about vault 101 as compared to 1984 made me laugh. However on a more random note it would be really cool to see vault 101 takne to the heights of totlatarian control complete with telescreens, torture chambers complete and utter pyschological dominace!

The colonization of space by humans is imperative to our long term survival! When my friends and I our discussing certain topics of intellectual rigor it is inevitable that future technology and space travel come up. However much to my dismay most of the people I discuss space travel with don't seem to believe it is a viable option. Certain arguments are raised its to exspensive we should concentrate on building a perfect world were all animals can be represented by the UN and everyone is happy and corporations are a nightmare of the past. Now despite some of those "valid" arguments I believe that the technological spin offs of a renewed space race would eventually pay for the program. As an added bonus humanities place in the galaxy would be more secure. Unfourtunatly most politicians seem to think that if they spend money on utopian fantasies they will get reelected despite the detriment of the common people. I truley hope they see reason, but I am not crossing my fingers.

Finally after several years of scrimping and saving I can finally afford to pay a decent amount of money for a custom laptop. The only problem I have is what company to choose. I was hoping some people around here could give me some recomendations.

Yea I lean more towards solo play but as you pointed out Vindekarr without a corp you are screwed. Right now I'm moving into lower sec space were the mining is more lucractive however sometimes the rats give me trouble. It also seems like a lot of the corps simply want to much from you, I'm not quite ready to sell my soul for isk yet.

Name: Mutar Kent Race: Caldari ISK: 40,000 Just started playing this game a couple days ago and the more I figure out the less I understand. Currently my only source of income is mining in high sec space boring but neccessary for me to buy enhancments for my few ships. However once I get past the early hurdles of this game I know that it will be very hard to stop playing! I also love the graphics!!

As I said in my first post I belive a hydrogen based economy is the best way to go. I was also unaware of the fact that electric cars are not as enviromentally friendly as they claim to be. Right now I belive Iceland is a leader in hydrogen tech. However as Vindekarr said it should be relativly easy for any nation to adopt hydrogen. They are also able to be recycled unlike the "green" electric car. I wonder why hydrogen hasn't been thrown around as a viable option for a gasoline addicted world.

What are people's opinions here on Mass Effect 2?
Turian3 replied to SpellAndShield's topic in PC Gaming
Overall a very strong sequel and a great addition to my collection of games. Barring some continuity issues with plot, I felt the collecters were kinda thrown in at last minute. Now apart from that almost everything was improved combat felt natural, party members were amazing as usual for a bioware game. Yea so a very good game overall and I hope the franchise keeps going! -
Ok I disagree with you about not needing nature. First off this planet has been here for far longer than humanity and as the most intelligent species inhabiting it we should have a moral imperative to protect our only home right now. Right now spaceflight is not very practical and I think it will be some time before we send colonists off to the stars so I think we should attempt to keep Earth intact. As for our standerd of living going down because we adopt green energy I don't think that will happan. As some other people have commented fusion energy could have all the positives of nuclear without the waste and it would allow for continued growth instead of stagnation. So I would reconsider your stance that the earth is expendable. I for one would not want to live in some bunker underground because the surface got screwed over.
-
I agree the that Nuclear Energy produces a lot of energy, but I am very concerned about the waste that will be around for thousands of years. Until a technological breakthrough occurs Nuclear will continue to be slightly unsafe and a possible terrorist target. As for solar energy I'm all for that however the efficency of solar cells should be improved as right now I believe they are only 10% 15%, however I am pretty sure the efficency could be improved.

After watching the dreadful oil spill down in the gulf and seeing the enviromental devastation it has caused, I began to wonder what exactly is the best energy source for our planet to utilize. Each energy source has its pros and cons however which one do you believe should become more mainstream. Its fairly obvious oil supplies around the world are stretched thin, and nations like China and India are starting to get there standerd of living closer to that of the United States. This is not a sustainable situation and I belive the majority of the industrial world should switch over to something more sustainable like a hydrogen fuel cell economy instead of a petroleum based one. However I am looking forward to discussing other options for an oil free world.

Ah man I was hoping for it be possible oh well.

Happily wandering the wasteland and pondering what to do next I am suddenly attacked by raiders from some distant house. Now my request is could it be possible to find cover possibly with a little animation like in gears of war or mass effect. Insted I am forced to crouch in a slightly ridiculous manner. I believe this would make combat more enjoyable from a third person perspective and add to immersion. Now how feasible is this and would it be possible to mod into the game?

As Wrath_Of_Deadguy01 said we have had the technology to accomplish missions to the moon and mars since the sixties. It was also mentioned that the cost would be great, however it appears our leaders have other priorities than space exploration. Also other people have mentioned that fixing problems on earth should take precedent over exspensive space flight. However the Earth will never be perfect and I actually believe that the benefits brought to Earth from spaceflight will make our planet more prosperous. Technological breakthroughs are bound to happen and eventually traveling into space may one day be just as easy as taking a plane.

Killing your dad could be satisfiying for a character who feels betrayed by the wasteland and him. However being able to implement it might be difficult as the game is probally structred around him living until a certain point.
-
A close range headshot with a combat shotgun should be an instant kill. Those darn talon company mercs seem to be some kind robot as I have shot them about six times in the head and they are still not dead wtf. And in all honesty guns do not degrade nearly as fast as they do in fallout 3. A properly maintaned firearm will last hundreds of years and even if its in crappy condition that shouldn't effect wheather a head shot will kill or not.

Spore this game had the makings of something godlike leave it to EA to screw it over. Whos bright idea was it to dumb down a game that clearly would only appeal to mature and intelligent people. Creating a cell and sheperding it to become an intergalactic civilization is not something you market to a child!! Dear lord why was this game so throughly destroyed.
-
Killable children I will definatly have to check that out. However the wasteland soon may be nothing but raiders and super mutants. It will be a true survival of the fittest! The rivers and sand will flow with the blood of all who oppose the lone wanderer. :whistling:

On all my playthroughs of fallout 3 nothing annoys me more than Little Lamplight. Those brats have the audacity to talk back to a power armored tank with a minigun! Bethesda should have had the option to allow children to die. I mean seriously Mayor Macreedy the way he talks to you he is just asking to be shot.

Without continued space exploration we as a species might go extinct! Resource depletion, overpopulation all of these problems could be solved by continued exploration and development of space. Some people said that ending poverty should be a priority however I would venture to guess that the above reasons stated are significant factors in the cause of poverty. As we spread out into our solar system Earth would become much more wealthy as needed minerals poured in. Another interesting idea could be slowly moving heavy industry off planet as to lessen the strain on the enviroment. Space based industry could funnel the wealth back to Earth and the enviroment could recover. However none of this will happan unless governments or private companies get there act together and start serious planning for missions in space. We don't want to wait until Earth is nearly dead before we realize we should get serious about space.

I think I may ask someone to do that. Maybe I am just being picky, but I just hate the thought of wasted potential. Fallout 3 definatly could be much more satirical of politics now don't get me wrong it does do it to a small degree but it definatly could do with more.

On my first playthrough on fallout 3 I came across a small compound. Curious I went to investigate. It turns out that it is a dictatorship with only a few citizens and most of them are family. Now being the power hungery man I am I wondered why can't I join this group? I had a plan to slowely gain Daves trust and then kill him and control the republic and steer it in a direction I choose. However the limited dialouge options prevented me from doing this.. So I thought a little more on the topic and thought why weren't factions implemented in Fallout 3? In vanilla Oblivion there was so much to do for guilds and or factions. In fallout 3 you are just a man and you can't become part of any faction. Sorry got a little carried away it just seems like a waste to have something appear to be detailed and mallable and then suddenly realize that a place like the republic could do with some improvments.

Hello I have just created my account and I am eager to make use of the mods and discuss games. I have to say that I am a crazy ME fanboy and I believe that game to be the pinnacle of what an RPG can be in our day and age. I also am a libertarian and believe that freedom for the individual should be as high as possible. Other than that I look forward to being part of the community here.

I would definatly say that the replay value for both MEs is alot! There are lots of different things to do especially in the second one. And the game will kind of shift in a certain direction based on your choices which is why it is so appealing.

spoiler What is your opinion of the Chantry...

I definatly had an lol moment when I came across her in Denerim.
