  1. I also need to know what outside programs i will need to edit things like BOMM masterlist.txt path.
  2. Ok when i had the update issue (wich is now fixed) I had all my utilities running and working correctly. Now i have the game updated and am going through a setup tut that i used last time. since i installed my oblivion gmae into C:\Games\Oblivion i am having problems. One problem is i cant edit BOMMs masterlist.txt to the new directory. The next problem is Wrye Bash will not Open! I have Wrye Python and PyFF along with tons of others for python, anyway it will not launch so i cannot get to the next step in my tut. I have been trying to get things working for 5 days now and i keep coming across problems! Now that i have all the programs i need and have oblivion installed to its own directory i am having problems with the utilities! My last major problem was when i had oblivion installed to C:\Program Files (x86) i had an update problem wich is now fixed. Now i have been told to install oblivion to its own directory and so i did. And now i get new problems all over again. I pretty sure if i would have reinstalled oblivion to the x86 directory it would have worked fine since i worked out all the kinks i had there. Now its like dejavu and i need help with the C:\Games\Oblivion directory and why my stupid utilites will not work! You have no idea how much a pain in the ass this has been. 5 days of hell with only half the help from the community! If there are any BRAND NEW TUTs With links to all the Program Utilites i need and one that realy speaks in depth of how to set all of them up id be gratfull if you would post a link to it or just help me set them up. The tut im using works but some of the steps contridicts itself. like Install Bas,h TES4 TESGecko to your utilities folder bla bla bla then the next step says install bash to your oblivion folder WTF
  3. Ok i am having issues setting up bomm and editing it. At first the file would not open beacause nothing could open it. I then DL Microsoft word veiwer and it will open it but you cant edit nothing. So i messed around a bit and got it to open up with microsoft office 2007 but when you open it it says that some things are missing. I can edit the mastertext.txt location to C:\Games\Oblivion\Data but when i try and save it it tells me some things will be lost since it didnt display everthing, opening it in this also made a copy and made the file a docx. So what the hell do i need to open this. I find this thing pretty retarded why couldnt someon just make a program >.< What do i need to do!
  4. Guess i was a bit late on this lol i got pissed and restored my computer (Other resons besides Oblivion Problem). But i reinstalled oblivion and tryed update W/O SI and i would get that message. Then when i tryed the original oblivion patch i would get the same thing. Now i put SI on and the SI patch works but the other Oblivion Patch will not work and i get that message. If its fixed then good if not then this is the last time im going to mess with it. Now i nee to Download, Install and Configure my utilites.
  5. Ok im fed up with this. I have posted two other threads and yet nothing will work correctly. The community has given me all kinds of help yet none of it seems to work and no one has realy adressed my problem. Oblivion Will not update! And if it cant update it will not be able to play any mods or use utilities. Im going to paist what my other two threads talked about here so you dont have to click the link and jump in between threads. Also if you want to view the replys heres the links th the thread Clicky First Thread: Second Thread: Now i have done all kinds of thing to try and fix this issue. I did a complete uninstall and removed all oblivion files from my Program Fils (x86), Documents/Games and registry stuff. I have UAC Disabled along with other things. I had the same problem with all the utilities needed BASH, Python, PYFF, OBMM, OBSE, BOSS, BOMM, TESIV Gecko and other related TESIV Utilities. Every Utility was installed corectly and configured corectly. And lastly no additional mods were added. As well as that my Complete Vanilla Version of Oblivion did the same thing while installed to the Program Files (x86) Directory. Now it is installed in C:\Games\Oblivion\ and i am getting the same problem. The install in my games directory is also vanilla. Now when i first installed oblivion it let me update it to the newest version. Then i uninstalled it beacuse of corrupt mods and i didnt have any utilities. Ever since then i have had this problem. So my only guess to what i need to do is these. 1. Some how manual install the update (dont even know if possible). 2. Possible use a different update like an older version to overwrite whatever is stoping my file from updating, then updating to the newest version. If thos wont work then i dont know what will and mayby you can try and figure out why this wont work. Like i said the game updated before but now wont. I am using Windows 7

  7. Well i have tweaked some different things and whatnot and i cant get it to fix. So what im going to do is run a complete uninstall. Then follow this tut i was sent to remove every aspect of Oblivion. Then ill install a brand new vanilla version of it and i can see if it will update. however if it will not update then i will post here again letting you know whats going on. I will also install it to a different directory instead of Program Files (x86) Wish me luck
  8. From your other thread you said: This leads me to believe that your Oblivion is not "damaged" - you are just running into the Win7/Vista UAC issue. You could turn off UAC just while you install the patch, all mods, and organize your load order - and then remember to turn it on again - or else you can uninstall Oblivion and install it again in some directory that is not under \Program Files (x86). Many people use c:\games\oblivion. The basic situation is that your operating system is protecting you from oblivion updates and mods because oblivion is in one of Windows "special" directories. My UAC has been turned off for awile now. I need some things dissabled when console modding the xbox 350 games and HDD. So UAC is not the problem. I have backups but i would realy hate to reinstall oblivion to a different directory. Can i move the entire file somewere else? Then again if theres ini files that have destinations i guess they wont work. I will use that as a last resort. Any other ideas?
  9. 1. The game wont patch. (remind me what SI is again? im sure i dont have it from what i understand) 2. I have the unoffical patches, all are installed. Problem is still there. 3. I have Wrye Prthon (and all things extra it installs), PyFF,Wrye Bash, OBMM, BOSS, BOMM TES IV Stuff (Like Gecko ect) everthing is installed correctly, the problem from what i can guess is that when i uninstalled it the game left part of the old patch corrupt ther for i cannot add the patch again. And the game will crash if its not updated beacause if the OBSE plugins. If i remove the plugins that would do me any good beacuse if the game still cant be updated then i cant use the majorety of mods out there. 4. I dont have ANY mods besides the utilities. So what seem to be the problem now?
  10. Well mayby ill finaly let the game beat me. I had installed and use oblivion mods before not knowing what i was doing realy and eventualy came across load order problems and mods overlaping each other. So i read up more did a couple more reinstalls and eventualy just finaly got everthing i could possible read up on jammed into my head. I used a good step by step tut to set up all the utilities i need to run oblivion mods. I know that the utilities are installed correctly beacause some would begin to work how they should be. Like when i edit a ini file to move stuff to a different folder it would do it. My OBSE plugins would auto install to the correct folders and bash put bain exactly were it needed to be. So everthing is fine and dandy so i backed it all up before i start putting mods into OBMM. Now my problem is the Oblivion OBSE Launcher and even the Vanilla Launcher will crash on startup. My cmd screen flashes real quick then gos away like normal and my mouse has an hourglass for 30 seconds and then i get the message saying "Oblivion has stopped working" And windows want to send in an error report or somthing like that. Now this issue i beleve i already know the problem wich i asked why it was happening here (My Other Thread). Basicly the game is probly crashing because of the OBSE plugins. And they will crash if oblivion is not updated with the resent patch. Now if you read my other thread you will know by now that my Oblivion Game will not patch. And i somwhat know why but than again i could be wrong. So WTF! i now need this fixed yet im not sure if it is possible! One thing i could try if you would be willing to help me out is finding a way to get my game to update. I was thinking maybe an older update will overwrite my damaged one that is not present wich stops me from updating because its suposedly already there. So an old update would be nice if i can be linked to one. Then again i could get an old update and it will still probly do the same thing. Uninstalling Oblivion WILL NOT WORK i have uninstalled 5-6 times and this last time i hunted through folders deleting anything related to oblivion, so i could maybe fix the update thing. So now my oblivion folder as is sits with no mods, all the required utilities and unplayable! So can somone please figure out what in the world is wrong! >.< >.< >.<
  11. Cool thanks ill look at it. Though i hope i dont have to uninstall again! I just finnished installing all the utilities and configured all of them. But i guess ill probly need to since i now cant even launch oblivion with the OBSE Launcher or Vanilla Launcher. It crashes so fast it wont even open. Matter O fact i came here to ask why. But i fear i know what the problem is, its the Update issue i was having is'nt it? Is there no way to try and get oblivion's update working? Like how can i remove this corrupted update? Ill go and check your link then and see if i can find it there. I spent two hours reinstalling Oblivion and Installing/Configuring all my utilities and plugins for OBSE. Right Now IM >.< I hope thers a work around to this.
  12. I have uninstalled and reinstalled oblivion now when i try to update i get a message and cannot update oblivion. Here is the exact message i get when trying to update "Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match." Anyone know how to fix this? I also removed all the left over folders for oblivion after the uninstall. So this is coming in fresh like i just got the game. I have thought of a couple of ways to possibly fix it like mayby manual update or updating it to an older version then updating with the new version. If anyone knows whats wrong let me know thanks.
  13. Lol your quick i just sent you a message hehe sorry for bugging you so much Thanks again
  14. Ok i have plenty of tuts and read through lots f different things but one question i just nee to through out there. Do you install mods differently when you get OBMM? And if so what do you do? Im going to put up an example and mayby you can tell me the scenario for how it is done. 1. just DL a new Race mod. And its not obmm format (I do however understand how to make it obmm format) 2. its sitting on my desktop in a compressed folder 3. i have obmm and everthing i need to play mods 4. how do i install it exactly? 5. is it as simple as extract files to oblivion data folder run obmm and see if it pops up in the lists of mods? 6. or is it installed differently? Again i have read tons of tut and had tons of help from members here but i dont know if i missed it but how is it done? I just want to know because before i reinstalled oblivion only my CM Basic and Unoffical patch picked up in obmm. All the other mods were not listed and some did not work due to load order i guess. And if your up to the challange how about answering i second question. When it comes to load orders how do i change them? Do i change it manualy in obmm? I also have Boss and all the programs i need i just wanted to clarify what i do exactly. Anyway thanks for the help i know i have asked for alot latly but we all gota start somwere. Added Information if needed! I am running Windows 7 and all my oblivion files are in program files (x86) ATM all my Oblivion files are Vanilla no DLC no MODS. BUT i have a verry large folder full of 20+ mods in ther compressed state and all the utilities i need. All of the utilities will be installed later tonight probly after i decided to get off of this thread lol. Thanks again for your help! I hope i have explained my questions enough. BTW Hope the blue is ok? If not let me know
  15. Ok thanks i sent you a message im fixing up my stuff now. My computer is pretty fast so it shouldnt take long, when im done ill let you know.
  16. How do i check to see if my obliv is updated? And were do i update if its not there?
  17. Yea i used the unoffical obliv patch i think i may have forgotton to add my patch since i have restarted lol let me check
  18. Oh Wait!! was i supose to install the mods in the folder that obmm added if so im so screwed >.<
  19. Cool thanks for your help :) im off to go see why BOSS and OBMM wont pick up the mods i just added and why the race mods are not showing up. If anything i will reset my data folder and start over. again :( Q_Q (I honestly think im retarded now)
  20. I got python and all that jazz and installed it were it needed to be. Odds are is i just have this feeling im going to have problems with mods down the road lol. But anyway i finnished that tut and installed everything i needed to that was on that page. Thanks for your help with bash Basicly all i want to achieve is be able to play multiple mods WO some stupid problems occuring. Right now im about to start installing mods that i have had saved in a folder and i hope they all come together nicely. Now last thing i need from what i can tell is to start installing mods. Now the way i find easyest is to select extract files and put them were there supose to go. Then i guess that after i do that i go into OBMM and make a load order so they work correctly? i guess ill just see if everything works in oblivion. If not ill try some tweaks with load orders and if that wont work then ill come back here and QQ some more :(
  21. I also forgot to say i dont use bain and have no idea what it is. That fkn tut contradicts itself >.< Use bain its great, Dont use bain if your new, and at the end of the setup thing, Install bain bla bla bla. GOD this is so retarded lol.
  22. I got many things turned off on my computer UAC is one of them. Like i said i modded on console games for the 360 so alot had to be turned off for most programs to work along with opening the HD and draging and dropping mods into it. Also my computer is running in test mode so theres a number of things turned off. Resently i disabled usb checks for my ps3 controler so i could use it as a gamepad in oblivion. It can also be used as a mouse and keyboard lol. Anyway i have installed the programs that were listed in that folder along with freaking like 10+ mods that i need to run one mod >.< but i hope that when im done and load up the mods my oblivion game wont take a fat poo on everthing i have messed with today. I decided to make a verry large backup of every file in my oblivion folder so if this stuff wont work properly perhaps i will need a new and better tut. This one seems outdated with all the misc programs i am supose to install that are like 5+ years old lol. So if ther are beter tuts out there for complete and utter noobs i would gladly like it. Lastly i would like to show you what i have resently done. I have followed this tut to the best i could, ill list the whole thing below and tell me if you think it sounds fine and if i set things up properly. I realy hate windows 7 and vista @_@ Note i dont use tes 4 gecko so :P and i havent got to the script extender part yet Recommended Utilities: 7-zip - many mods are packaged in .7z archives, and this tool is fast and free Better Oblivion Sorting Software (BOSS) BOSS Masterlist Manager (BOMM) Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE), Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) (executable version) TES4Edit The Elderscrolls Construction Set (TESCS) TES4LODGen Wrye Bash (archive version) and the Wrye Python 02 package, Python 2.6.4, wxpython 2.8.10.1 ansi , ComTypes, psyco 1.6 for Python 2.6, PyWin32 for Python 2.6 >> notes: 1) Make sure the version of ComTypes you download supports Python 2.6. 2) Some users have reported that using Python 2.6.5 works as well. (Comfortable users) Additional downloads: PyFFI, TES4Files, TES4Gecko (Optional) Tools for troubleshooting: Interactive Map of Cyrodiil, Oblivion Cell Grid Map, SI Cell Grid Map Install 7-zip. (If the installation prompts you to restart your computer, do so now.) Install C++ Runtime Library, OBMM, TESCS, Wrye Python 02 package, PyFFI: Extract those that are contained in archives. Then run each executable. >> notes: 1) When installing OBMM, leave the check for adding a shortcut to the desktop or quick launch bar. 2) Install Python before any of its dependents (wxpthon, ComTypes, PyFFI, etc.) To install TES4Edit, TES4Files, TES4Gecko, TES4LODGen, Wrye Bash: Create a new folder "Utilities" in the Oblivion folder Extract them there using 7-zip's "extract here" function Inside the Utilities folder, rename the TES4Gecko folder "TES4Gecko" Extract Wrye Bash in the Oblivion folder. >> notes: when updating, when prompted to overwrite, choose "yes" Create Wrye Bash shortcut: Right-click on Oblivion\Mopy\Wyre Bash Launcher.pyw Choose "copy" Right-click on the desktop or quick launch bar Choose "paste shortcut." notes: Windows 7 users may be able to right-click on the file and choose "pin to taskbar" Create folder "Oblivion Mods" in a safe location outside of the Oblivion folder. Install BOSS: Move the main BOSS archive to the Oblivion\Data folder Choose "7-zip">"extract here" Install BOMM: Create a folder in your documents folder for Microsoft Word macros, and drop the BOMM archive in it. Extract the BOMM archive there Open the BOMM file At the top, the very first line, correct the path to your masterlist.txt file (located in your Data folder.) Create a shortcut to the BOMM file: Right-clicking on and choose copy Right-click on the desktop or quick launch bar and choose "paste shortcut" Before completing the configuration, copy the path to your BOMM file (not including the file name itself, just to the folder) Scroll down to the "Installation" section in order to configure Microsoft Word for your BOMM configuration. Close BOMM Configure OBMM: Launch OBMM Go to "settings" (in the right sidebar) Create an "OMODs" folder in your "Oblivion Mods" folder (previous step #7) Choose "Move omod directory" >> notes: Moving the directory reduces the size of the Oblivion folder and makes the OMODs real (safe) backups. (Still in settings) check "Never modify load order" (unless you have no intention of installing Wrye Bash) >> notes: this anticipates using BOSS and Wrye Bash to modify your load order Go to Utilities>Archive invalidation Select "BSA Redirection" >> notes: see the BSAs and Archive Invalidation page if you want to understand what this feature does Close OBMM. Configure Bash: Find the "bash_default.ini" in Oblivion\Mopy and copy it Rename the copy to "bash.ini." Open the bash.ini Set "sOblivionMods" to the path to your "Oblivion Mods" folder. Example: sOblivionMods=D:\Oblivion Mods\ Scroll down and make sure that the paths to other programs are correct. The root folder is the "Oblivion" folder, so paths that do not start with a drive letter (i.e., "C:\" or "D:\") start in the "Oblivion" folder. Example: someentry=aprogram.exe is the equivalent of someentry=C:\Program Files\BethSoft\Oblivion\aprogram.exe >> notes: 1) If you followed the instructions above for installing the utilities mentioned above, they are already in the root folder ("Oblivion") so you should not have to change the file paths for those. 2) Do not worry if you see a program in the bash.ini that you do not have installed. Bash ignores apps that it does not find (if they are not installed or if the file path is wrong.) For TES4Gecko also add TES4Gecko\ --> result (\TES4Gecko\TES4Gecko.jar) Once you are satisfied, save and close the INI file. Copy the bashed patch Oblivion\Mopy\Extras\bashed patch, 0.esp Paste it in Oblivion\Data Launch Wrye Bash Initialize BAIN, Bash's Installer, if you want to use it... Click on the "Installers" tab, initializing BAIN (...nothing much will seem to happen..) >> notes: 1) Once initialized, BAIN creates a "Bash Installers" folder in the sOblivionMods directory specified in the bash.ini file. That is where BAIN packages and projects are located. 2) Right-click on the "packages" tab and choose "Open..." to open your Bash Installers folder. Right-click on the "Packages" tab: Leave all defaults, but make sure "Auto-Anneal," "Auto-Refresh Projects," "BSA Redirection" and (optional but recommended) "Projects First" are checked. OBSE and its plugins are not "regular" mods and require a different kind of installation, which is why their installation is covered here. Most of the following are stabilizers, all highly recommended. The two most vital OBSE plugins are Fast Exit V2 and OSR! >> notes: 1) The DLLs for all OBSE plugins should be installed in the OBSE\plugins\ folder. 2) Some OBSE plugins have dependencies (DLLs) in subfolders of that folder as well. Install OBSE Download Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) to the Oblivion folder Extract it there. (It will add a folder containing the OBSE files.) Copy the following up into the Oblivion folder: "obse_1_2_416.dll", "obse_editor_1_2.dll", and "obse_loader.exe." If you use the Steam version, move "obse_steam_loader.dll" as well. Delete the folder and the archive it added >> notes: 1) from now on!! use the obse_launcher.exe to launch your game, launching the game with OBSE-dependent plugins (not OBSE plugins) installed guarantees a crash, so it is best to get used to always using this launcher 2) If upon launching, it errors about needing the latest version of Oblivion installed (1.2.0416), you need to install the latest patch (via installing the second disc, if you are a GOTY user.) Install OBSE Plugins Download the following OBSE plugins: Elys' Universal Silent Voice (USV) - extends time text is displayed on screen for unvoiced dialog, so that it does not just flash Fast Exit v2 - prevents CTD on exit Oblivion Stutter Remover (OSR) - manages memory at a low level, reducing stuttering in-game Pluggy - extends OBSE, especially for debugging, for mods and the user Install the archives: Extract Fast Exit and OSR in the Oblivion folder. Extract Elys' USV in the Data folder. Extract Pluggy into the OBSE plugins folder (Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins, which you may have to create). All of the DLLs should end up directly in the Plugins folder (except for OSR's component DLLs which should be in their own subfolder.) >> notes: All OBSE plugins are installed in the above folder. That is where you will find the INIs that needed to be tweaked for your OBSE plugins (not OBSE-dependent mods.) The "src" folder directly underneath the Oblivion folder is not for mod users. Let it be. Find the "Oblivion Stutter Remover" thread on the BethSoft forums before tweaking the INI file. The safest edit you can make is to raise the FPS cap. >> notes: If you have a very good computer, you may want to raise the cap to 60 FPS. If you use Streamline, turn off Streamsmooth or set SL's FPS range inside of OSRs. OSR is more robust, and they can cause bad conflicts when vying to handling memory management. Another OBSE pluin: If you are going to use Elys' Uncapper, (uncaps the level for the PC skills and attributes, raising the limit from 100 to 200 or 255) extract it to (or in) the OBSE plugins folder.
  23. My next problem is this tut im using sucks i copyed the bash_default.ini and renamed it to bash.ini but i take it i dont rename it to exactly bash.ini beacause if i do it will say bash.ini.ini This is what that stupid tut says. Bash ignores apps that it does not find (if they are not installed or if the file path is wrong.) So i guess im supose to delete all the text in the copy of bash_default.ini (bash.ini) and then put in sOblivionMods=D:\Oblivion Mods\? Or am i wrong? Well for now how would i write up the destination in that stupid folder this is were it is located. Computer/Program Files (x86)/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion Mods. Sorry if i seem like an uber noob but i guess i am. So if thats what im supose to do write me up exactly what im supose to put in bash.ini. Thanks and i hope my information is erm readable.
  24. im running into all kinds of problems :( when i was console modding i figured things out reletivly easy but it almost seem like this is a little more complicated >.< I figured computer mods would be a piece of cake for a console modder :(
