  1. I don't know of any better place to indulge in this rant so... One of the most game changing mods I've installed since rediscovering Morrowind is without a doubt the humble 'Shut Up' (www.nexusmods.com/mosrrowind/mods/43310/) mod that makes NPCs only "greet" you if you look them in the face; this simple mod has made my gaming experience soo much more enjoyable. When people talk about Morrowind, something I rarely hear mentioned/criticised is how utterly obnoxious the NPC greetings are. Apparently Bethesda disagrees as they still use the same primitive "Repeat your line every time the player comes near you" system to this day but never was it so irritating as in Morrowind because of the choice of dialogue itself. The NPCs in Morrowind are absolute arseholes! Either that or they're so reverent that it feels equally excessive ("It would be an honour and a privilege to be spoken to by you" -something like that). I realise that this fits the theme of disdain towards outlanders but the lines are still spoken even when the character likes you and that's the main point of this little tirade - it bugs me (and breaks immersion) when I approach someone who's fond of me only for them to say "Khajit has no time for you" or otherwise remark about how they don't know me or that I essentially need to piss off and leave them alone. Hearing them slag you off and then reading them say "Oh [Player], good to see you again!" is stupid as all hell. Just wanted to vent!
  2. Hi, I've read the pinned post about project ideas/requests so I'm not asking anybody else to make these mods, I just want to know how much they'd involve. The only modding experience I have is adding some sound features to a silent ASCII roguelike which is probably more intimidating than Morrowind, hopefully. The first is a tiny change I'd like to make: adjusting the opacity of the menu "help" boxes (the mouse-over pop ups). I don't know what can and can't be changed but seeing as there's a setting for the menu itself, I'm hoping this can be added in. I feel like Bethesda did it backwards, only allowing the background menu to be translucent and not the overlays! The second is to have plants/ingredients' effects pop up beneath their name when you mouse over them in the game world. I don't know if this is feasible and I imagine it would be more work than such a minor change may suggest. The display that you get when mouse hovering in the menu could suffice but only in conjunction with the first idea because otherwise that black box would be to obstructive. Completely perfect vision of this would be only displaying the known effects and not the ??????s and a more elegant version could be just displaying the icons rather than text. I'm basically looking for an estimate/challenge level so your wisdom would be appreciated. Cheers.
  3. http://mw.modhistory.com/download-53-7035 (adds bard NPCs who will play music upon request) So I added this mod from the above site and I'm torn on whether I want to keep it because it looks great once you pay them to play but until you do, they just stand there 100% frozen (body and face) and not only do they look jarring to the point of immersion breaking, they're actually kind of morbid! I've never modded but I do have some mod editing tools (for fixing problems like a bad dialogue entry) and I'm wondering how difficult it would be to ammend it so that they do their 'performing' animation constantly. The performing animation is really nice, they sway slightly while playing the lute, so it wouldn't look out of place as a constant effect. Many thanks if anyone can help - if it's just a case of changing a few settings then I'll gladly give it a go.
  4. [Note Edit below!] I'm hoping you see this, I know it's a few months ago but most Morrowind discussions are at least five years so I consider this recent. I too am receiving errors such as "Unable to find Region 'Old Ebonheart Region' in Load for Cell 'Old Ebonheart, Docks' " during the "Loading (TR_Travels.esp)" phase. I've checked and I do have both TR_Preview and TR_Travel activated (selected to be loaded in the launcher), as well as all the related TR files. I didn't even want to use Tamriel Rebuilt at this stage, I just started getting crash to desktop errors relating to missing TR files after adding a mod (extremely frustrating as I wanted to avoid TR's frustrations and the mod didn't mention being dependent on TR). I do have the BSA registered too in the Morrowind.ini file. I can still play the game so it's not a problem at the moment but it looks like I won't be able to play Tamriel Rebuilt without encountering errors, I just thought I'd register that the problem is still unsolved. The Ebonheart error worries me as that's in the main game. [Edit] Okay, I now realise that TR_Preview and TR_Travel are unfinished optional elements which thankfully solves the Ebonheart (and other) errors. The only remaining errors now are ones that come after the Loading esp phase and don't specify what they're in relation to. I'll type them out verbatim here: Item "TR_m1_sc_MG_note" not found on "TR_m1_MG_05_Stash" Item "TR_de_commond_hood" not found on "TR_m3_586-Inventory" I don't know which mods they're in relation to (other than the TR prefix) and so far they haven't caused any in game issues, I'm mainly posting this so others can find discussion of these errors.
