  1. I currently have the steam version installed and I have installed these mods you speak of and they work fine. However make sure you have invalidated the bsa validate in the FALLOUT.ini file located in the Save Games folder in your Documents folder. Search google for your answer on that.
  2. Oh wow I remember reading this a long time ago. It made me laugh :)
  3. Would love to see Wrye Flash supported, in the supported tools. As well as TES5 Edit  (and their corresponding .exe name changes per game). I'd also love to see many features from FOMM transferred to NMM as well  Otherwise really great job, NMM has come such a long way since the initial release.
  4. BUG: When installing a mod and asked to overwrite it does not display the mod you are overwriting. BUG: Mods using scripts to install files (other than .bsa files) will sometimes not define a target to the VirtualModActivator folder within the symbolic link file. It will have no target parameter at all. And because of this nulled reference when uninstalling these mods they do not remove the symbolic link files from the Fallout New Vegas/Data folder. Also the Mod manager does not update the install or disable button in the gui and after you uninstall the mod, the uninstall icon still shows instead of the install icon. However, I tried a mod with an install script not from nexus' site and it worked just fine. WORK-AROUND: I can manually create the symbolic link using this command parameter in an elevated cmd. link Which will then correct the nulled reference and remove the files when the mods are uninstalled. Mods Tried: BEWARE OF GIRL Type 3 HiRez HiDetailed Replacer by BlackBlossom (bug was caused with all but 2 files) The Mod Configuration Menu by Pelinor (bug was caused with all files) The Weapon Mod Menu by Pelinor (bug was caused with all files) One HUD - oHUD by Gopher (bug was caused with all files) Unified HUD Project - uHUD by Gopher (bug was caused with all files) Lings Coiffure NV by earache42 (all files worked properly) I have noticed that .esm and .esp files are not being used as symbolic links even though they are stored within the VirtualModActivator folders. I don't know if this is intentional or not but if so it seems redundant to have them copied in both locations (wasted harddrive space) MINI GUIDE : Installing optional files or manual files for specific mods 1. Download the desired mod. 2. Install the mod with Nexus Mod Manager 0.50.0.0 beta version. 3. If it asks to overwrite go ahead because this will create a symbolic link (symlink) file that references the file you want. (in this case the overwritten file) 4. Navigate to your mod install folder used by Nexus Mod Manager and look for a folder called VirtualModActivator within the mod install folder. 5. Then navigate to the corresponding folder for the mod you installed that contains optional files needed to be installed manually. 6. Now go to the file and click and drag it to the correct spot within that mod folder we just navigated too. This process is exactly the same as before but instead of doing it in the Data folder we are doing within the mods individual folder. 7. Be sure to follow the readme instructions provided by the mod author when adding optional files manually. This usually applies texture mods or body replacement mods.
  5. Is fallout 3 and/or Fallout New Vegas an open sourced engine?
  6. Why would the voice tags be an issue with porting the companions for fallout 3 to new vegas? Is there a codec issue? I thought the games ran on the same engine?
  7. Well I solved my Problem!!!!! If anyone was curious check the first post for my current info
  8. I don't understand why no one ever suggests using this mod but it totally fixed my game. See this thread for more details on how I got my Fallout 3 Game of the Year editon completely stable on my Windows 7 i7 3rd gen 8gb ram 64bit laptop at full settings with HD texture packs running around 60 fps constantly. Try out the mod I suggested and see if it helps. If it does please spread the news.
  9. [Edit] So I don't know if anyone really cares but I wanted to say I fixed my issue by doing the following: Completely uninstalled the game Re installed Updated the game to version 1.7 Below is my current set up (Changes from original will be in red ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fallout 3 Settings: Resolution: 1980x1080 Windowed Mode: No Vertical Sync: Off Anistropic Filtering: Off Antialiasing: Off Bloom: Off HDR: On 3.0 Shaders Allowed: On (Fallout 3 set to High settings, except Water set to full settings in Options on Launcher Menu) INI Tweaks: bUseThreadedAI=1 ;Edited: Originally zero but changed to enable threaded AI iNumHWThreads=2 ;Edited: Added in to limit number of cores used to 2 fDefaultFOV=120.0000 ;Edited: Originally 75.0000 (to fix terminals, and Player editor menus for being off screen) Fallout 3 & Launcher Executable Tweaks: Compatibility Mode: Windows XP SP3 Disable Visual Themes: Yes Disable Desktop Composition: Yes Disable Display Scaling on High DPI Settings: Yes Run as Administrator: Yes Set Affinity in Task Manager: 2 Cores Allocated More than 2 GB of RAM: Yes 3rd Party Tweaks: FOSE: Yes (Latest version) Disable LIVE: Yes Stutter Remover: Yes (tweaked .ini to allow 60 fps max) Fake Full Screen: No (I can play full screen again) Intel Graphics HD Patch: No (the d3d9.dll tends to reduce the fps than what I normally get) Installed Mods (currently in use): Cipscis' Automatic Save Manager Energy Visual Enhanced (Paradox Ignition's The Mergers Patch) Fallout Remastered (The EVE Mergers patch and Project Beauty [Redesigned] patch) Followers Hire (No Karma and unlimited) NMC's Texture Pack (Max bumpmaps plus full) Personal Achievements Log Re-Animated (Plus Idle Revisions Fix) Redesigned (Plus Broken Steel and Point Lookout Patches) Zan AutoPurge Crash Protector [solutions] These are the following outcomes from the changes in red above: Can play in a much higher resolution Can play in full screen FPS stays well at 60 (however when I enable the stutter remover I have it limit it to 60 fps, I might change that later) Horizontal tearing is occurring (I need to figure out whats causing that) I get around 45-60 FPS in the Capitol Wasteland constantly (no more FPS drops or memory leaks) Have not had any random crashes at ALL All in All Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition is now playing 100 percent stable on my laptop computer (see specifications for details) I recommend everyone who is having issues to try what I did and see if it works for them. Especially try Zan AutoPurge Crash Protector! (I believe that helped me out, along with the suggests below. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I recently wanted to play Fallout 3 again... (last time I played it, it was on my Desktop running XP) Game Information: Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition Purchased in store (2 CD's) DLC installed from CD not LIVE Updated to version 1.7 G.E.C.K. not installed Computer Specs: Type of computer: Laptop Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1 (6.1, Build 7601) System Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Fix) [Description of Issue] Now it runs fine on my computer, starts up fine, and I can start new games fine. The issue is the capital wasteland. Any other room or area in the game that isn't the capital wasteland I get 60 FPS (because i have it limited to 60 fps) But if I am in the capital wasteland I get max of 15 for around 10 seconds then it drops down to 1-5 and stays there. I cannot travel through it because the frame rate is so low, and it always seems to crash because so much is happening within the capital wasteland that it's too much for the low frame rate to handle. (that's why it crashes only when my fps drops to below 10) [Random Freezing] Another issue I have is it sometimes freezes when I am in the middle of shooting (mainly with energy weapons but I'm associating that with the EVE mod) [ALT+F4 Issue] And the last issue I am having is ALT+F4 does not completely close the program but sends it hidden into the background (I have to kill the process manually in task manager). Is there a fix for that? [Recap] Other than these issues Fallout 3 seems to run pretty well. So I was wondering is there any way I can increase my FPS without destroying how amazing the game looks because with my specs I should be able to run this game flawlessly with 60+ fps. New vegas runs at 60+ fps including the NMC large texture pack flawlessly and never crashes. How come Fallout 3 can't. I have Fallout 3 Configator (I tried lowering the amount of decals present but it didn't make a difference) Again I ask, is there a way to increase the fps of the capital wasteland without destroying how the game looks (IE removing texture packs or lowering the graphic settings)
  10. Man one thing that i didn't like on FNV was the radio stations, they are so boring and plain. If only GNR reached across the entire US ugh... also is it even possible to get pasted liked with the BoS faction?
