  1. Just to add unique item seem to persist longer . If you sell any unique item to a merchant then they may still have it several respawns later. Generic items are different.
  2. Hi Res , Low Res ? There are many things that affect the image quality in Skyrim and the amount of lag caused. First thing to do is disable all those boost mods. Second disable any Texture mods, most other mods should be relatively harmless but it may be wise to disable for now. Last delete both skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini Now launch Skyrim via launcher.exe Select the minimum settings keeping the correct aspect ratio for you monitor. Still not fixed then default settings on your graphics card should help Now the game should really fly. It is now up to you what to add but do it one at a time. Just remember you have to balance ...Resolution v AA v other effects.. An example could be if you have a 1080p monitor and you play in that resolution the game could lag like crazy but if you played in 720p the game would not lag at all . When you hit the wall for your graphics card you just have to trim your settings or get a new card.
  3. If you want to play at "Pirates" get one of the many Pirate games. In my opinion ES should stay in the Myth and Magic era., Guns and Magic (ES style) just don't mix well for me. There are already several good "Pirate " games out there and I play/ed a couple and like them but they are a totally different concept.
  4. I know what you mean but often and especially in quest mods the main quest line is stalled due to some generic item needing to be found or purchased.
  5. Yes I do mean those tedious go get me 10 Deathbell type quests. At the moment I am working on a mod that will add a unique type of NPC to the game and a small part of the NPC's features will be to be able to sell you (at a high price) any non unique item that you need or sell you information as to where you collect items yourself. My pet hates include .... Collect a Brair Heart ....i always seem to trigger this to early and get killed time after time. (Main Game) Collect a Small Pearl....... Vilja mod quest ...There are only two guaranteed locations for this item in the entire game (Skyrim only DLC's add more) Collect 10 Wisp Wrappings.....Wyrmstooth or Helgen Reborn mod (not sure which) finding themis really hard and merchant can't sell them until you have Lvl 50+ Speech. So what's yours ? Beta Testers will be required later and will be selected from respondents to this Topic.
  6. I walk or ride mostly in the early part of a play through but revert to carriages of fast travel as and when I get bored with killing the same bear/bandit or whatever on the same bit of road time after time.
  7. My opinion 1 It is up to the Mod author to decide what he/she thinks takes priority. Is it a quest mod that just happens to be on a new land, or a new land mod that has quests. 2 Moonpath was out long before the others so has the benefit of a larger pool of potential fans. The amount of Hype surrounding a Mod also can have a great effect on a mods popularity, If you look at what I consider the top 4 new land/quest mods. Falskaar is by far the most popular but is perhapse not as good or same quality as Wyrmstooth, Helgen Reborn or the one I am currently enjoying Blacklands. 3 see 1
  8. Game on SSD NMM on and Saves on HDD. I think that probably save location is more important than NMM location with the amount of auto saves in the game, currently my game saves are just about 25meg so if I trigger 8 an hour that is 1 GIG of new saves every 5 hours of play . Yes I realize that all bar the latest 3 are deleted, but that is exactly the way to promote early SSD failure. You would be hard pushed to constantly change that many mods. SSD for permanent files, temporary files on HDD
  9. As above but just have to say Vilja is a unique follower with loads of extra features that can replace the need for some other mods. Vilja dose not fill your follower slot so you can have her and another follower. Vilja can command up to 10 followers that follow her. Her quest line alone adds 30-50 hours of extra play with radiant quests on top. She is not the silent type and can chatter to and with you and many other followers. She even sings duets with some. Vilja is at her best started with a new game as she has special things to say about a lot of quests with 4,000 lines of unique dialogue and rising. I could go on but for a lot of players she is simply a must have.
  10. Just a quick thought. Use task manager to monitor your game before and during play. Ctrl Alt Delete out if the problem arises. If memory or CPU have maxed out then that will be the cause of the Lag. Skyrim itself can only use 3.1 G ram but other processes can hog ram and force use of the page file. A similar thing can happen with CPU usage and external apps or processes. As you say your PC can run Skyrim fine so it could be external to the game and worth eliminating at an early stage.
  11. Running W8.1 and standard .NET NMM has no problems apart from the usual Login problems that are 99.9% of the time fixed by DL or re_DL of the NMM installer., and do a manual install. For most mods you don't need NMM..... 1. DL the mod using the Manual button. 2. In you DL folder find the Zip file and unzip to a temporary folder on your desktop. 3. Read any special instructions. if there are none then goto 4 else follow them. 4. Locate your Skyrim folder open it ...... open the data folder and copy the files over. 5. Close the Data folder click on Launcher.exe .... Select Data ..... then click the tick box to activate the mod. 6. Exit the launcher completely This is as far as NMM will take you 7. Run Boss to automatically sort load order. 8. Play test. 9. Clean up you temporary files and you are good to go.
  12. I fixed NMM last week by DL & Installing NMM 0.46.0 This week it died again but repeating the above fixed it again.
  13. Couldn't replay Vilja in Skyrim without most of the above but especially SKYRE Footprints Frostfall RnD SKY UI COT All Relavent patches and DLC's Others I always use but could live without Realistic Ragdoll Enhanced Blood Pure Waters Kill Move and about 50 more various mods.
  14. Skyrim + update + unofficial patch only .....play to lvl 20 to get really used to the game then you will enjoy the extras more. Just a few examples of what I mean........... Dawngard ....This DLC will start killing off merchants early in game and continue to do so until the DG main quest is completed. Envoienmental mods.....these will make Skyrim a nicer place to be but you will need to know what Skyrim was like to see and hear the benefits. Dragonborn DLC and other extra lands / Quest mods (Wyrmstooth, Helgen Reborn, Falskaar etc.) can all be installed later. You have plenty to do in your first partial play through. Companions / followers ......there are plenty that you can get right from the start (well first town you visit) just use thes until you get ready to mod your game and or restart. Some of the better companion mods are at there best if used from near the start as to use their quest knowledge others may be just simple meat shields and added at any time. SKY UI......I would add as soon as I feel confident the normal UI is rubbish. Also look at other interface improvement mods when you notice things.
  15. There is always another way to look at the problem. Legendary difficulty unbalances your game making the PC weaker in relation to NPC's. So rather than than try to compensate by using UBER spells or weapons, Switch back to normal difficulty and make the game harder to play using say "Skyrim Redone" or similar to up the Enemy AI etc. for a harder but very different to the vanilla game. I an playing a stealth archer in my current play through with SkyRe and my observations are that all NPC's are more balanced Bosses are hard but no longer uber so in general the actual killing is more balanced but with the enemy AI a lot harder. Lifted from page 86 of the SkyRE manual. Combat in vanilla Skyrim basically consisted of spamming power attacks with an ”Absorb Stamina” enchantment or vegetable soup. No tactic was required, and stamina did virtually nothing. Thus, I decided to make a new combat system that heavily relies on stamina (and, to a lesser extent, on health) and forces you to use more tactic, especially when using the other enemy boosting modules EnemyAI , EnemyScaling and EncounterZone.
