Hello everyone, Ranoth here. Years ago I played a modded setup of Oblivion for about 3 years. Time goes on and life happens... I now have a new rig and the ability to get back into Oblivion again. I used Wrye Bash, OBMM, and NMM, when I modded. Now I have Vortex. It works with Skyrim. Can I use it for Oblivion? What are the essential mods that are out now? Modding was a lot of work back in 2012. Is it any easier now? So far using Vortex, I got the UOP working and tried to get OBSE working manualy. OBSE isn't wanting to work. That is bad because so many mods use it. I am using the STEAM GOTY edition of the game. Any help would be great. I really just want to rebuild my modded world and go visit all my old haunts again. :) Thanks for any help!

Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to read this topic. I have been playing Oblivion for around 3 years and have a heavily modded game. I am used to using the CS and Wrye Bash as well as OBMM. This Christmas I will be getting the Oblivion\ Fallout 3 dual pack and so (of course) I will be modding Fallout 3. I wanted the dual pack mainly so I had a backup disc for Oblivion, and I have always wanted to try the Fallout games. Quick question on the dual pack I am getting. Is it just the base game of Fallout 3 or does it have all the DLC? The advice I need is as follows ... 1. Can I run Fallout and all the mod managers needed for it on the same computer as my Oblivion setup with out any problems? 2. What are the "core" mods and programs needed to mod Fallout 3? * I can not use NMM as my rig is not on-line. 3. The order of modding that I ran with Oblivion was- -All programs and managers needed to mod the game. This included all patches, official and unofficial. -Interface and UI mods -world mods that dealt with textures and light etc. -player character mods, textures, skins, etc. -world mods that added homes, stores , new towns and the like. -quest mods -any clothes, armor, weapons, mounts etc. I depended heavily on the Oblivion modding community since Oblivion was the first game I every really modded, so any advice you guys and gals could give me would be great. Modding is very much about personal likes and dislikes and I understand that. What I really want is a good starting foundation so that I can jump into the world of Fallout and stay for several years. That is when I am not in Tamriel! :) Thanks again for any advice you have. I am off to read more pinned topics. ;)

Hello everyone! I have a simple request. Send me on a quest. What I mean is suggest some great quest mods for me to install. I have no quests to go on right now. ( I know... sad. ) I get lost looking at all the different quest mods available. I would like something with a lot of thought put into it, not just another "Item quest". My character is a noble hero who will gladly help all in need and delights in bringing justice to evil doers. :P Thank you all for your help. Now, I am off to pack my gear.

Some sound mods can add sounds for effect even when the creature is not in the game. Birds anyone.... Makes the game sound nice though.

What could have messed up my installation?

I feel for you. I have been rebuilding my Oblivion on a computer with Vista. At first it worked fine, then boom. Crash city. :verymad: :wallbash: So I followed all the advice I could get on-line. ( Thanks everyone! ) I ended up doing a total uninstall and cleaned up my registry, defragged my hard drive and then set about doing another re-install. :whistling: The game should be put OUTSIDE of your program files. Somewhere like C:Games\Oblivion Do follow the advice Nephenee13 gives. I am almost done with my new, stable, improved Oblivion2.1. Hope it goes well. Oh, yeah. Do not move straight to a reinstall. Try reverting to Vanilla Oblivion first and see if it still crashes. If it does you need to start the uninstall / reinstall procedure. -
Hello fellow mod players! I am rebuilding my Oblivion and I have a question or two for all of you. I am currently using Better Cities- COBL ITF Ozmos Highrez face textures Now... For my npcs- What other mods should I use to make them look as good as they can? If there is anything I need to uninstall or a order to install stuff, please let me know. I am open to any suggestions, as my main goal is to have NPC characters that look unique and have a nice look to them. Thanks for any help you can give!

I need some advice on a graphic card.
ranoth replied to ranoth's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Thanks for the info. I will keep looking around at new cards. Would I benefit from upgrading the power supply other than being able to use a bigger card? -
Hello all! I have been rebuilding my Oblivion on a Dell Dimension E521. I know the computer is older but, I am upgrading from a Sony Vaio PCV-RX830 The Dell had 2g or ram and I added two more for the max of 4GB. It currently is running onboard Nvidia integrated video. I want to put a new graphics card in. The power supply is 305W, so I am limited in that I do not want to upgrade the power supply. So far the card I am looking at is: EVGA GeForce GT 430 I would like to see how far I can push the graphics on this. Does anyone know if this card works well with Oblivion?

Gray Prince and Sir Amiel Tribute
ranoth replied to Proximitus's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
I use weapon racks to display swords and such from the quests I do. I also use display cases for those items that have been retired for higher level items. The items from other quests get placed around my house. I use the Bravil Sea Domes as my main home and have added a lot of storage and display items. The basement works great to store and display stuff. So, no you are not the only one that feels like some of the npc stories deserve to be remembered. -
I have had a strange problem that I can not figure out. Every now and then the head only of my character will do one of two things. 1. Lose all skin and just show eyes and mouth. ( freeky!) 2. The skin will lose all flesh color and be black color. I have noticed that my computer will really slow down when these things take place. The effects will resolve on their own after anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Any help as to what could be causing this would be great. Thanks!

Random missing textures...I think...

Thank you. I will check all the settings on my card and check my drivers. We all know how fun that is! -
Hello everyone. Been playing Oblivion for a while now with 100+ mods installed. I feel I have gotten pretty good at the whole mod thing and have even done some basic stuff in the CS. My question to all of you is about something that happens every now and then. I will find solid black areas in caves and forts, and ruins. It may just be a door or a gate or a chest. I have even seen banners and piles of debri. Also... My characters face will loose its' skin color and go all black. Sometimes the face will show the "skullface" when on the inventory screen. Othertimes it will just have the black where skin should be. The black also only goes to the neck. The rest of the skin textures are fine. I have noticed that when these gliches are happening the fps drop fast. My solution is to shut down and restart. That seems to work. However, I would really like to know how I should track down what is causing the problem. I use Wrye Bash and OBMM and Script Extender. I start the game by going through Bash and using the SE startup botton. Any advice will be gladly taken. Thank you!

Controls acting strange...Help please!
ranoth replied to ranoth's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Thanks everyone. It was the joystick. And here I thought my character just really liked a new dance move! ;) Kidding aside, I really do love how everyone in the Oblivion community jumps in to help no matter the problem. Thank you! -
Controls acting strange...Help please!
ranoth replied to ranoth's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
I do have a joystick connected to the computer. It has never presented a problem before. I will disconnect it and see if it makes a differance. Thank you. Any other suggestions? Looking at it... I think it happened after I rebuilt my Bashed Patch. Ideas? -
Hello everyone! I have a problem for anyone willing to help. Yesterday tthe controls on my game started acting strange. My character walks to the right as soon as I start a game. It is like the "Q" key and the "D" key are being used together. If I press "Q" she will walk straight with a slide to the right, and if I push "Q" again she goes back to the right. I have checked my keyboard and I know it is not a hardware issue. Is this some bug I am not aware of? Could it be caused by mods? I am running Wrye Bash and OBMM as will as using the CS. I currently run around 167 mods along with various tweaks that I have seen suggested on TESN. Any help would be great!

A simple question that I do not know the answer to. Does the game "end" if you complete the main quest? or Can I keep installing mods and continue to play to my hearts content?

Thank you for tackling the Amazon armors. I look forward to seeing them all released. The BBB convertions that you are doing for the Apachii Goddess Store look great! I have a lot of armor and such from there. Keep up the good work! Oh,yeah... Get some sleep!
