I've been playing Bethesda RPGs for years but have only recently started modding them. I'm not too good with scripting yet and wondered if anyone could help me with this. I want to make a mod for oblivion that adds an empty potion bottle every time the player drinks a potion, and makes it so these bottles are required to make a potion using the game's standard brewing system. I've managed to accomplish the latter part of that however I've tried for hours but can't find a way to add a bottle when the player drinks a potion - either using the base construction set functions or ones added by OBSE. I know I could add a script effect to every potion in the game but this would mean that player created potions wouldn't work and the mod would be incompatible with a lot of other mods. Besides, there must be a simpler way to accomplish it. I'm pretty sure I'm just missing something blatantly obvious but any help on this would be much appreciated.
