  1. I don't care that dev can't fix the problem of their own making. I just want a workaround that will allow this crippled software to work properly when it is treated as an adult. There's a reason that UAC can be disabled, and is among the first things disabled in Windows by people who know what they're doing. I don't need to be saved from myself. Just fix the software instead of making accusations as to the user's intent. Failing that, a workaround for adults Thanks. Also, this post isn't "answered" except inasmuch it's been replied.
  2. Bro. Read the post. I'm not sure how I could make this more clear. Do you perhaps have a problem with English, or polysyllabic words? I'll enumerate this in an attempt to make the obvious clear to the developmentally disabled. VORTEX HAS A PROBLEM WITH BEING RUN AS AN ADMINISTRATOR. NO OTHER SOFTWARE IN EXISTENCE HAS THIS PROBLEM. STOP MAKING EXCUSES, AND INSTEAD: FIX THIS.I can't make it simpler than this. I just can't. Stop making excuses, sweetheart, and just fix the obviously broken software. I'm not going to repeat myself at length to a spastic who couldn't be bothered to read what I've already typed.
  3. Again: this is the only software title I have used in my forty-seven years on this earth that not only has a problem with being granted administrative privileges, but states so while excoriating the user for treating it as though it were created by adults. Just fix the damn software. Failing that, just tell me how I can run it with non-administrative privileges so I can baby this title into utility. It's that simple. I know; it's easier to insult the user. But in my dozen plus years in software development, this is a "fireable" approach. You don't insult the user for your developmental incompetence. FFS, there isn't even a workaround!
  4. Right. I'm totally going to alter my entire operating system for one software title that can't handle adulthood. Do you hear what you're saying here? Seriously. Vortex is the only software title that I have ever used that has issues with being granted administrative privileges. Edit: It's extraordinary to me that every reply is either accusatory, makes excuses, or both. I'm gobsmacked. Y'all are essentially saying that you know this is a bug, you know development can't (be arsed to) fix it, and instead of handling this issue like one human being to another, done little but make excuses and direct hatred toward the person pointing out the problem. Speaking of adulthood... Is shame something that is utterly absent those born either during, or at the cusp, of the 21st century?
  5. I'd like to ask which mods are absolutely essential to you :geek: as I am returning to F4 after a long hiatus. I have yet to complete a playthrough, so I'm most interested in mods that fix broken things, and those that increase FPS. To give you an example, I'd say that Project Nevada, (rebalancing ONLY), is in my list of absolute essentials for Fallout: New Vegas. So are many performance-increasing mods whose names I can't remember... It has been quite a while! Thanks!
  6. Specifically, I want to "fix" the sniper skill path by removing or modifying its 2nd level. A chance of knockdown is potentially the worst thing for a sniper aside being a Glowing One, since knocking down the victim of a non-fatal headshot most often removes their head (if not their entire body) from the sniper's sight. And let's be real; as snipers, we're not looking to whittle down an enemy's health by pinpointing their ankles; we want crits, every time, all the time.
  7. I'd like to see a mod that presents conversation options a la F3/F:NV. To wit, I don't want a "conversation wheel" style -- I prefer the "list" style used in 3/NV.
  8. Greetings: Thanks again for getting back to me! "Isn't great?" That's way too mild a critique, but at least we're making progress. It also isn't a "holdover." I've installed (and attempted to use) Vortex several times throughout its development -- since beta through 1.0 and beyond -- and have never before seen this message. At any rate... I'm not explicitly running Vortex as an administrator. Rather, my user account is that of an administrator, because: I know what I'm doing and accept the "risks." Many of the tasks I routinely perform require administrative privileges Many of the software titles I routinely use require administrative privilegesHonestly, I really don't care that development can't, or can't be arsed to, solve a problem of their own making. All I want is a workaround to ensure that Vortex can work properly given this bug. If you could tell me how to force Vortex to be run, by an administrator, without administrative privileges, we'll be in business. I think the answer can be found in the executable's Properties under the Security tab, but I'm not sure specifically what modifications I need to make here. Given Vortex's fragility, I figured I'd ask first. Thanks again for your time!
  9. I respect your opinion but it's irrelevant; the issue is that the program states to the user that it may (I'm going to lean heavily toward will) have issues because it's given administrative permissions.
  10. Greetings: Thanks for your reply! I said nothing of feelings / needs, and while I respect your opinions, they are not germane. The issue is Vortex's inability to run properly when given adminstrative privileges. Let me put it this way. No software that I have ever encountered in my considerable experience has had an issue with being run as an administrator. I've also never seen a warning upon installation that granting administrative privileges may cause problems -- much less a nasty, explicitly accusatory warning. Why not just fix the software instead of making excuses and accusations? Is it that it's easier to do the latter, or that development is incapable of doing the former?
  11. It's pretty ridiculous that changing the installation directory requires a completely separate installer. This is unprecedented in my three dozen years of using computers, and dozen years of working in software development. But then again, the Vortex installer also complains about the program being given too many permissions. I've never seen that before, either.
  12. Vortex is... unique enough without this. I have never heard of an application having a problem with being granted too many permissions -- much less, explicitly stating that any permissions-related issues are the user's fault (!) because the application is given permissions. Thank you for your time. Please fix this.
  13. No need for support here, but rather a slight correction. The title of this forum area contains "Fallout 4"; description contains "Fallout 3": Fallout 4 Technical Support new Having technical problems with Fallout 3? Post it here and we might be able to help you!
