The new notification system has arrived on the 22nd of March 2021, it has arrived with LOTS of issues and removed a lot of features useful for everyone, which have yet to be replaced. Overall, the new system is, by any objective margin, is worse by the previous one. The lack of communication around this change has been astonishing, and has been pointed by numerous users in the comment section of the relevant news, so I won't come back at it. However, as of the 1st of May 2021, meaning more than 1 month after the notification update, there has been little improvement to the system; true, some of the issues have been fixed, however, others have still yet to be resolved, and worse, the notification system for image share has been turned into an abomination who is barely usable anymore. Numerous comments have been made, extremely valid points have been made, and by valid, I mean impervious to any attempt at disproval, because you can't disprove something that is true. Yet, the last answer we got from the ONLY community manager who bothered to come and adress the issue dates back from the 19th of April, more than 10 days ago. Today, the issue remains and persist, it's been more than a month since the notification update has been released, so far, almost nothing has changed, the system is still painful and horribly inefficient to use, every comment made since two weeks at least are still as valid today, and there is no communication anymore by anyone, and seeing as the staff keeps posting and being present on others threads, it seems pretty clear that they are deliberately ignoring the issue. I'm asking for the exact same thing I asked a week ago, and two weeks ago: for the community manager who came on this thread to come back and adress every single point that has been made, and explain to us why and how the new system is better than the previous one, because it is very obvious that it is not.

Tell them they can take their time, I enjoy having my latest image be featured in the front page and receiving dozens of endorsements and the most views ever :D

I hate to be that guy, but you should know blowing your head is unhealthy and can lead to numerous health issues down the road.

Please don't bring politics in the topic. We already have enough of it everywhere. And no one has said there has been some hacking attempts, and if it was the case, closing the image share wouldn't do anything since the accounts themselves and the website in general would be targeted, and the issue would concern much more people, especially after almost a week. From what we know, there's just an issue with the data being improperly overridden when publishing an image, it's probably a very simple problem, but with a complex solution.
-
When you will have succeeded in fixing the issue, could you make a site-wide announcement, so everyone is informed it is back?
-
There is already several categories, including narratives, I personally published a year and a half long story on Fallout 4 in the narrative section. It's more a individual games thing I guess, maybe the different categories should be standardized among all games, but that's probably more easy to say than to do, and as Traiderek rightfully says: it's not the best moment for that. But it still something to keep for the suggestions later, when the situation will be resolved.
-
I'm not an expert, but from what I get, it sounds like the core issue lies in the overwriting of the data, maybe an instability in the code, maybe related to the last update of the website, since many things have been changed. Of course, that's only my opinion from what I get here, I assume that since it's been 3 days and the issue is still not solved by people much more qualified than me, the problem is much more complex than that, or the problem is simple, but the solution is not. Anyway, thanks for the info, it gives us more comprehension about what is going on. By the way, at least it doesn't seem to affect screens we post in mods gallery or on our profiles.

What happened exactly? I have been uploading images on this website for two years, and it's the first time I see the image share, or any other function for that matter, being disabled, and from what I get, several accounts have been damaged. I guess something has happened serious enough to force you to shut down an entire mainstream function of the website, can you tell us more about that?
-
Oh, so I am not alone. so I also affects mod images uploading, and not only simple image uploading. That, plus the "internal server error" bug when trying to change your about me page, and it seems this whole site is starting to collapse. Hope someone is working on it.

In response to post #73897103. #73899578 is also a reply to the same post. Good for you.

That's really not necessary. Keep it and scrap that new UI, no one wants it.

In response to post #73629998. "Ignore the 80% comments that I don't like because I disagree with them, therefore are not valid, because only MY opinion matters."

In response to post #73617773. #73617973, #73618278, #73619398, #73619788 are all replies on the same post. The see all option already existed before, I never needed it before, because I was able to see exactly what the notifications were before, now I can't without having to do extra things that never were needed before.

In response to post #73617773. #73617973 is also a reply to the same post. And I also just saw that now, clicking on a notification was entirely removing it from the list, whereas with the old design, it was staying, allowing the user to return on that particular link later. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to do that, but it is certainly not an improvement.

Why having removed the thumbnail images for the notifications? Why having removed the numbers of notifications and replaced them by a simple +?
-
;D ;D excellent !
-
Yep, same thing.

In response to post #69294731. #69296531, #69297101 are all replies on the same post. Oh no, i think you misunderstood me: when i said i was disappointed, it's an innocent disappointement, it's like doing New York's marathon and not winning: you are disappointed but the true stuff was running it in the first place. I participated for fun and fun i had, i had an idea of doing a set focused on Cait and her struggle against drugs, then i changed to make the set i uploaded, which i made in 2-3 hours; considering this, i'm more than satisfied of the results. It is clear the selected ones put much more time, effort and skill in theirs so there is no comparison. Being in the final selection would have been the icing on the cake of fun, nothing more. In the same way, when i speak of big names, it's not in a negative way, it's just a simple constatation of facts, of course they are popular for a reason, i'm not for punishing people because they are better or more skilled than others, it's with that kind of mentality people become mediocre; on the contrary, i'm all for improving and becoming better to surpass them. When i was speaking about the photoshop/big names results, again, it's not related to the quality of the work by itself, again, they desserve every praise they have, no, what i was saying, is that it is important for people, especially newcomers, to understand that you can shine without that, that it is not mandatory to use photoshop to improve your screens, or that you don't need to be a heavy weight in the community to have your chances and why not even winning, and also have fun. Personally, on the topic of photoshop and post-edit screens, i don't really care, i'm more impressed to see what it is possible to do with that kind of tools. -

That event was fun. I'm a little disappointed to not be on the final selection, but hey ! We were around 100 for 15 places ! So, now that the event is over, i can finally say my remark: i enjoyed looking at the screens, but unfortunately, i think that too many people focused on the physical fight aspect of the theme: gunfights, swordfight, duels, etc, and it is can be seen in the final selection where most of the screens are only about fighting and killing. I wish more people would have focused on the others aspects of what constitute a conflict and struggle: feelings, psychological fight, etc. I hope to see more diversity of interpretations of a particular theme in the future. Also, many screens had nothing to do with the theme, but maybe their author simply made a mistake when uploading those and were in fact not participating in the event, so i'll give it. (I'm still talking about it because it seemed weird to me when i started to look) On the photoshop controversy, i can rejoin Fyrcynn on his comment: the vast majority of the screens featured in the final selection are blatantly and heavily photoshoped. Without talking about their merits and the quality of the work which for me doesn't constitute any debate: they are extremely good and desserve every praise they got. But, seing so many photoshoped screens and big names (most of the people featured here are well-known members on this website, they are popular and have many followers) can send a wrong message to newest members and make them think they have no chance to shine because the only think who leads you to win is being a big name or proposing heavily post-processed shots. Should we forbid the use of photoshop and others tools to post-process images? I don't think it should be the case, after all, it's work and dedication too; should we disable the endorsements for the contest screens? I saw several people talking about that in some comments, frankly, i don't know, it can be frustrating to see your screen being ignored while the screen posted by the big name next to you is receiving 50 endorsement in less than one hour, but should we change the tool for that? I don't know, the system is not perfect, far from it, but any other system put in place would inevitably end up being broken, so why bother? Anyway, congrats to the winners. Edited my post after realized my sentence about the photoshoped screens wasn't very clear. -
I had this problem for a while now. At the launch of the game, switching between 1st and 3rd person or inversely was instantaneous, it was something i was very appreciating compared to SKyrim and it's delay. And then, suddely, litteraly without reason, it disappeared, now, and since that moment, when i am switching views, the camera takes a LOOOOT of time to switch between the two views, roughly 3 seconds (ok, when i type a lot in majs, i am being a little hyperbolic). Since then, i've tried several times to fix that, but absolutely nothing i did worked, including completely reinstalling the game on another support. This issue happened litteraly overnight, without me having done anything to the game: no mod installation, no mod update, no game update, no mod removal, no change in material, no change in options, nothing, absolutely nothing at all. I often switch between the views to take som escreens of to appreciate the look of my characters, and everytime, that switch takes 3 long seconds instead of being instantaneous as it should be, as it has always been before that issue ocurred. I've tried to change my Ini files by adding the lines advised by the author of this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5830/ But it has absolutely no effect at all, no matter what value i enter. I can't figure what's wrong of what cause and still cause this issue in the first place, and it has become a real pain in the ass, is someone has a clue about this?

Interesting, i've learned a lot of things by reading all of your comments, i didn't know the existence of many of those commands, i'll give it a try. For the blur effect, i recently downloaded a mod who remove the blurry effect who spawns when you are hit, do the command do the same thing? -
Hi, thanks for your answers. Yes, this was my first though at the beginning, so i double checked everything, it was correct. Yes, i tried that to, because i had follow a tutorial on youtube, i though there as some steps missing, so i decided to check a settlement from the base game (Abernathy farm), i checked everything to see if i missed something, but after double and triple checked, there was nothing more in Abernathy farm than in my settlement, except in Abernathy farm, the fast travel mat was functionning. Yes, in fact i have done a little more than that, but i didn't know how to describe it precisely. Yesterday evening, i decided to rebuild my settlement from scratch, by following that tutorial: http://stuyk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=32 I followed every step exactly as described, it took me three hours to finish, half was used to double check every step to see if i was doing it correctly, and at the end, it changed nothing, my fast travel target doesn't work at all. So i don't get it, is there something else missing? Or something who should not be here?
