I also ran into this problem with Sidney, and Clover, think thats her slave companion name. For me it happens many time when I zone, especially right off starting game. Stay out doors long enough, than problem goes away. This is what I do. For follower, access their inventory. For Sidney, or other temp follower, go to console, "~", and click on follower, type "disable" and without exiting console, type "enable" right away. This kinda resets them. Or if too lazy to do these, than I just save. Exit game to Main Menu, and load up the saved game. If you just reload, it won't work. Has to restart from the Main Menu. Its Bethesda glitch. Have fun.
