  1. Just stumbled into this threat. These Ideas are awesome, including the deadly without treatment and lifelong hobbling ones (on these I could see a random role on game start). I really hope to see this mod come to fruition.
  2. I just stumbled into this thread and it has kept me enthralled for the last hour. I'm a long time lurker of the nexus forums and have very few posts, but am breaking my silence to say this is a great answer to Bethesda/YouTube/Facebook/EveryOtherPlatform to easily and automatically take down non-authorized reproductions of digital works. A widely shared digital signaturing system that works similarly to bitcoin block-chaining where every site could easily scan newly uploaded content for a digital signature/s embedded in an uploaded file. Could block-chaining solve this problem for the creator in a similar way it solves the problem for BitCoin? Below are some scenarios that popped into mind regarding this tech and how it could be used. I'd love others thoughts on scenarios that beat up on this idea. 1. Signature is tied to the account at the site where the content was originally uploaded. Someone copied and decompiled the code and uploaded on the same site? Check the file for signatures on upload and check against the block chain. Whomever is earliest in the block-chain wins (gets to upload or is denied upload). 2. Someone overcomes this check on upload by adding the code to other code without the bake in? Two signatures have then been applied and whomever is earlier in the block-chain wins (i.e. content is removed by a bot at a rate faster than user can update the code/gain traction). 3. Editing your own content? While bake in applies another set of signatures the base private key of the signature is identical to the original bake in. File gets a little larger, but file is allowed to update without hangup. 4. Default block-chain check server is down? Each site has a shared copy of the block-chain that contains the file's signature date so it roles over to another one (and another one, and another one [DJ Kaled]) Until all existing signatures are verified. 5. Want to keep your code open source but want first there credit where it's due? Select open source in the dialog or set it as default in your account. Signature gets baked in but other files that use the code can return an automated list of who had first dibs (and second, and third, and forth, and...well you get the picture). 6. Interesting side effect - Want to know how far your source code has travelled? You don't need to find each file where it has been used and then uploaded. Just run a script on the block-chain that looks for your signature for that code snapshot. Now you know how many times that exact code has been uploaded. 7. They strip out the digital signature (except with the recently discovered mathematical approximation of random getting even faster and better than previous methods this is unlikely). Will add other scenarios to above that I think of and from any further comments [with your permission of course]. The power of block-chain is that the history is baked in and then shared in the distributed repository. You have to break security of majority of people hosting a repository in order to modify enough histories in order that the modified history exists in more places than the unmodified history.
  3. Hello Nexus Devs & Users, The Nexus community thrives, at it's core, because active users receive recognition for their work. As the recent Bethesda.net fiasco shows, recieving credit for your input/mods/creations/help/wiki posts is/would be important to the 10% of users who contribute 90% of the content to your sites. Right now, the endorsement system for mods is a great example of a solid implementation of a recognition system that is balanced between user interface & creator recognition. The most endorsed mods get to the homepage, are spotlighted by content creators on other platforms, get much more positive feedback in their comments section. Intuition would say that these content creators who receive recognition via this system tend to keep their content updated, upgrade their content from feedback, and create new content more frequently than creators in other areas of the nexus sites. Here is my proposal: Expand your Endorsement/Kudos system to the following areas in the following ways: 1. Forums for Original Topic Creators add a +Kudos(Topic) object at the bottom of the original topic post.for Replies to the original topic add a +Kudos(Reply) object at the bottom of the reply.for a Reply to a ^Reply add a +Kudos(Conversation) object at the bottom of the replier's reply.2. Wiki for creators of new Wiki pages add a +Kudos(WikiPage) object next to the Subject at the top of the pagefor major edits or additions to a Wiki page add a +Kudos(WikiEdit) to the bottom of each sectionfor hyperlinks create a +Kudos(Linker) object and use it to count the click-throughs to the link3. Mod Pages for "Bugs" page add a +Kudos(Debugger) object and use it to count bugs that the mod author sets to "solved" or to a much lesser extent sets to "not a bug"same as Forums above for posts and forums section of modThese changes would give users the chance to give kudos on the spot/based on their activity for other actions on the Nexus. This information could be used to drive a Forum Hot Topic section, a Wiki Hot Topic Section, and a "Most Useful Comments/Replies/Conversations" Section within the mod page. These Kudos could also drive metrics that the user and others can see regarding where the user has contributed the most to the site or to modding a particular game. I'm thinking a bar graph with each type of Kudos represented, but your experience with Endorsement System should drive how these metrics are displayed. I hope this Feedback is reviewed and is useful and I'm open to Replies
  4. Ahhhh. Thank you for clarifying! I actually saw this mod before I went away. I swear, modders are worse than people in the military (I'm in the Coast Guard in the US) about creating acronyms on the fly, lol. Thanks again!
  5. Hello, I've been away from Fallout 4 & modding for a hot second and now every mod I see talks about something called LOADS & LOADS support & "Use LOADS it's great!". What the hell is LOADS! I searched fallout4nexus & google to see if there was a mod page or a standalone website and found NOTHING! Tell me what the LOADS is my precious please.
  6. Every site through the years, having had a breach and potentially losing my data or exposing me to viruses security breaches, should have done exactly what you have above: 1. Explain the situation/the companies thought process 2. Provide mitigation actions I should take 3. Provide legitimate apology 4. (the most important part)Explain actions they are taking to improve security. I swear if they did, more humans would be cognizant of the level of threat their data is under and we might have a comprehensive set of laws, regulations, and technologies to limit the amount of cyber-crime, terrorism, and warfare, that excellent people like you are on the front lines of each day. You are a role-model for small and large companies alike about how these inevitable breaches should be handled.
