  1. I want to make it as if my character were a cross between two races. I can get his appearance good enough for me, but I want to edit some of his stats. I want to change his height, weight, starting attributes, skill bonuses, and resistances. But, I only want the change to be applied to my character, not all of the npc's. Is this possible to do, and how would I go about doing it. Thanks in advance for any answers. :)
  2. Ignore this post, found what I was looking for. :)
  3. Ok, thanks for the info, thats pretty much all I wanted to know.
  4. I just have a quick question about Qarl's Texture Pack III Redimized. (Found Here: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=oblivionmods.detail&id=3813) In the readme of QTP3, under compatibilities, it says that the mod is incompatible with anything that changes oblivions meshes and textures. Is this just a CYA statement? I have OOO, MMM, and Natural Environments, and am planning on getting Better Cities. I have heard other people have those too, but just wanted some confirmation before I download and install them. Thanks -Devjiro :)
  5. Okay. Thank you for the responses. When and how should I use my 'mod tools'. So far, I have downloaded some mods, and the only other program I used is 7-zip to unzip them, I did not have to use wryebash or obmm or anything. Is it just because the mods were set up nicely, to make it easy on my end?
  6. Hello again. Last night I spent about 5 hours messing around, installing, uninstalling, and overall just practicing with various mods. This morning, I uninstalled everything, and am starting with a clean slate, ready to really start getting some mods I want. Now I need more help. I have read the 'how to' and 'faq' stickies, and all the related readme's, and have done a quick search here on nexus, and a few of my questions were not answered to my satisfaction, so I will ask them here. Mod Tools There are a lot of tools available for the modding community and I just wanted to know which were the most respected. Currently, I have the following installed: 7-Zip BOSS CS OBMM OBSE Fast Exit 2 Wisdom Earle's Crash Prevention System Wrye Bash Are all of these good? Are there more I should have? Which should I get to know and love, and use a lot? Folder and Mod Layout I like to keep my computer organized, and therefore usually have a folder system I used to keep all my wanted files in the right spots. Now, when you get into modding, it seems that the files will get a little more picky as to where they go, because Oblivion is looking in a specific spot for them. Right now I have Oblivion installed in the default spot. I put all my mod tools into a separate folder for now though. So, in my data folder (that is in my Oblivion folder) there is: A Meshes Folder A Music Folder A Shaders Folder A Textures Folder And A Video Folder The only folder I created is the meshes folder. All the other ones were already there. Are there any more folders I should create? How about folders within folders? Because in the textures folder (That was already there) has a folder inside called effects. I am guessing this will not interfere with anything, and I should just ignore that folder. It would be good if I could create folders specifically for my mods that way I can delete them all at the same time if I need to, but I am not sure if this would work. And, below those folders, within my data folder, I have a bunch of single files. There are various files that are textures and meshes files for Oblivion, Knights, and SI. Should I leave those alone, or drag them up into the texture and meshes folders? Also, should I move any of my mod tools here? How should I arrange them? My Desired Mods I narrowed my list down to about 7 mods I really want, but they are probably some of the biggest, most complicated mods available. ;) OOO Qarl's Texture Pack III Redimized All Natural Natural Environments Better Cities Reneer's Guard Overhaul Deadly Reflexes Should I take the plunge, or get about another 100 hours under my belt before I even attempt it? In what order should I download it? Where should I put it? How long does it usually take to download? And give me any other advice or words of wisdom, I would even accept a step by step guide. ;) Patches, Updates, and Fixes Last night, I did not download any unofficial patches. But, just out of curiosity, how do these unofficial patches behave? Are they more like official patches, or mods? Anything else I should know about them? Thank you all in advance for any answers. I will definitely appreciate any and all information you can give me. And, sorry for the wall. :)
  7. Wow, sorry for my stupidity. I just re-read step six, where it specifically explains that to me.
  8. I have read the instructions on the first page. (Although I have not read all 28 pages of this thread, so sorry if this was already asked.) In the direction it says install the .esp into the data folder. I have done that. It then says you need to put the textures in meshes into the texture and meshes folder. For me though, there is no textures and meshes folder. Am I supposed to create these folders? (In the data folder, there is a texture.bsa, and meshes.bsa file though...?) Thanks in advance for any help, I guess I will go and read those 28 pages while waiting for a response. ;)
  9. Thank you for all the input everyone, a lot of useful info and resources that will definitely help me in the near future. Those are all the questions I have for now. :)
  10. Ok, thank you. That is pretty much all I want to know. Thanks for the info, and I will be back after I get the game and start doing some modding. :) There is actually one more thing though. Is there any official or unofficial patch that makes it so oblivion can utilize multiple cpu cores? Because I do not have a very beefy cpu, so if I could spread the stress out between it's two cores that would be great. Thanks.
  11. What is a small mod you recommend I install first, that is easy to install, and hard to screw up, so I can get some practice? I know it is possible to change the stats of some races, this seems like it would be simple, but is it? And, if I change the stats of my character, does it change them all? (For example, if I make myself an imperial, and make it so he has 100% resistance to magic, does it make it so every imperial has 100% resistance to magic? Thanks for all the info, really helps. ;)
  12. Thanks for the replies. I have done some more research today and reviewed my list, and think I got a little carried away at first. (Perhaps because there are so many great looking mods). I will do like you said and do it slowly, and thanks for the recommendations SaintAnon. Something that I tried looking into though is body/face mods. I think the most popular mod is Bab's right? And, do you know any websites that list EVERYTHING that is included in FCOM? I think I am probably going to use that, but have not been able to find out exactly what they do, just the general stuff, even while looking them up individually. Just trying to get some prior knowledge. I will learn a lot more when I receive the game and start messing around with things, but for now this will help immensely. And again, thank you for the responses.
  13. Warning! Wall of Text follows. Hellow everyone. I am new to PC gaming and Modding. I recently bought Oblivion GoTY edition, that includes Shivering Isles, and Knight of the Nine. I have a list of mods that follow, and I just wanted to know which mods I should add, replace, or remove to make a good final list to download once I receive the game. I am a bit of a graphic enthuthiast, but do not have a good enough computer to be as picky as I like. I have 2GB of DDR3 memory, an ATI Radeon HD5670, and a dual core AMD Athlon II 2.8GHZ CPU. I understand that there are probably some things listed below that I will not be able to implement, but what should I do instead to get the best graphics I can while keeping the game playable? Do any of these mods interfere with each other? Is there a limit to the amount of mods I can have (I have a pretty big list), and is there any other blatantly obvious thing that would make these not work correctly? Also, what are your opinions and experiences with these mods. Are some of them crap and I should just forget about them? If you do not know what the specific mod is, then just google it, because I used the official names. I am not really seeking technical help right now, I will get into the complicated stuff later. ;) Thank you in advance for any answers and hope this post is not too much of an eye sore. Once again thank you. :)
