Couldn't hurt to run a hard drive check. Maybe there's a file system error - happened to me a couple of times over the years. Run CMD as an administrator, type: chkdsk X: /f /r X stands for the hard drive/partition you want to scan which would obviously be the one where Fallout 4 is installed. You might have to reboot the PC if it's on a system drive - it'll do the check during the reboot process.

I think this happens to me with all games which use the creation engine. I encountered this in Skyrim SE as well as Fallout 4. Sometimes but not always after changing mods I load up a game and it CTDs (also happens randomly without changing mods). In Fallout 4 it usually loads up the first savegame but then crashes as soon as I fast travel. Thing is, as soon as I reboot my system, everything runs fine again but without a reboot the game will remain borked. Thing is, the system in general is still stable, just not Fallout 4 or Skyrim so I don't believe it's a hardware issue. I actually already tried disabling Windows Prefetch cause I thought it might be a problem with Memory flushing under Windows 10 but no luck so far. Has anyone experienced the same and found a solution for this? I presume this more on windows 10s side than on those games but since it only happens with Bethsoft games I thought this would be the best place to ask. Exactly the same issue. Happens after I enter the part where the ground is covered in oil. Happens every time. No idea how to fix it. Hello! I'm very, very new to modding and I just ran into a problem which I can't seem to solve on my own. So, I use the creation kit for Skyrim Special Edition and every time I try to create a new script, the creation kit just crashes. I have already googled a few solutions but they don't seem to apply in this case: "Creation Kit crashes every time you try to edit or add a script to an object You've added a .bsa file to the SkyrimEditor.ini load list, but you didn't unpack the BSA's script source files into Skyrim\Data\Scripts\Source. See Resources to extract a BSA."I never added any .bsa files to said file or to the CreationKit.ini which is new file I think? And I also found that: but the files are already in those folders and I didn't change the sSciptSourceFolder setting. I'd appreciate any ideas on how to deal with this. Edit: Uuuuuh, never mind - actually the second solution about the PSC files worked for some reason. I just need to remember that I should never apply logic to skyrim and just do stuff no matter if it makes sense or not.

Firefox error when downloading with manager
CaptainShiny replied to CaptainShiny's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Sweet, works! Thank you very much! -
Hello! Yesterday I did a clean reinstall of Windows 7 and I managed to backup and restore all of my NMM settings just fine and everything works except that I can't use the "download with manager" option anymore. I'm pretty sure that this happens because I didn't reinstall the Mod manager but use the backuped files instead. Thing is - I don't want to reinstall the mod manager unless I'm absolutely sure that it won't overwrite my mod settings. So, does it? And if it does, is there a way to make the mod manager work with firefox in some other way? Thanks!

Hello! Just reinstalled Skyrim and am on the way to get my mod config rolling again. Now I have a problem with one particular mod. This one: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/29608/? It's stuck in the download list since yesterday - it doesn't ever download and I can't get it out of the download list. The file seems to have been downloaded but not registered properly because I found it in my mod directory. I tried deleting the file from the mod and the cache folder but it just won't disappear out of the download list and I can't find any way to get rid of it in order to redownload it and install it properly. I'd appreciate any help. Edit: Dammit, I was just too dumm - the download list was to small for all the icons to appear so I just saw the pause button. I just had to make the window bigger - sry about that!

Need a few pointers to get into modding
CaptainShiny replied to CaptainShiny's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Today I installed blender and watched some very good beginner tutorials to get an understanding of it. I also installed gimp but didn't try anything with it but I guess that it won't be much of a problem. Next week I have a very uncertain schedule, though so I first need some certainty before I'm ready. I guess I can report back in a week, maybe earlier - just to give you an estimate. Until then I'll try to do a little research on my own each day. Also, I gotta say, that I didn't finish the mages quest, yet, because I went for a warrior/thief character first - just started that quest line, actually. But I think I could finish it in time. Oh, and happy new year! :) -
Need a few pointers to get into modding

Thank you both for the info and the encouragement. I'll get to it shortly. :) To lv121: Thanks for the offer - that sounds great. First I want to do some short basic research on my own but first after that I'll get back to you. I actually already used the geck for simple modifications of armorratings and some mod bugfixing (sweet veronica mod) in new vegas and that was quite simple. -
Hello, My new year's pledge is to get into modding. Okay, that sounds like it's doomed from the start - My GENERAL pledge is to get into modding (Yeah that'll work much better ;) ). Problem is, my only modding attempt, if you could even call it that, is waay back when I made a few levels for Half-Life with worldcraft and that's miles away from what I intend to do. So I have no clue where to start. I already searched on this side for some tutorials but I couldn't find any which are written for Skyrim. I also didn't have any luck with google. I guess that's because the creationkit isn't out yet but I already found mods where meshes are editeted even by first time modders. So I guess this is a good time as any to get started and learning some modding without the creationkit might give me a broader knowledge of it. Although having no actual knowhow I do have some ideas what I wanna create to get started. Generally I'd like to modify armors to my liking which would include editing meshes, textures and maybe animations at a later stage. My first idea would be to remove the leg and arm parts of the nightingale armor. Even if that's already done I think it's propably a good exercise to get started. In the long run I plan to modify meshes and textures of the nightingale armor so it gets a detective like look to it while still retaining the look of an armor so it fits the setting. Now, what I'd like is some suggestions for moddeling tools and other needed utilities I need to create the above mentioned, maybe some links to tutorials that would fit the stuff I'm trying to do and how to use these tools together so that a working skyrim mod comes out of it. Thanks in advance for any help! And have a good one one today with whatever you're doing and a not so bad one tomorrow! :)

Same here. Armor itself looks awesome but the cape kind of ruins it. Also there's clipping when you use Twohanders like me.

Okay, so I have a program called SpeedFan... and I can monitor and set my fan speeds... but it's staying at a consistent 78-80 degrees... so how am I supposed to get it to 60? I just put the graphs on high, AA off and FXAA on, I use the catalyst (if you're using a radeon card you can use this too) manual overdrive thingy. I set the fan speed at 48% and the degrees don't go higher than 60. Putting it at any higher speeds will kill my ears and do no good anyways. If you put your fan at 100% and still don't go below 60 then I guess you'll have no choice to wait for a patch. If this is working for me (which I'm still not sure of, it can take some time before a crash to then happen every 10 min again, haven't had much time to play yet anyway) then the game just f*#@s up the video card at heats it can even handle. I have experienced crashes to desktop now, maybe if the crash isn't so sever due to high fan speeds, it just crashes to desktop instead of crash entirely? It is quite strange that I get CTDs now and I didn't before, but no black screens so far. With these black screens and the fact that you had to increase your fanspeed manually I'd say there's something wrong with your graphics card and not with the game. I don't think that a patch could do anything to fix an overheating graphics card. Or is it commonly known by now that everyone with an HD6870 has that problem? If so, than I'm wrong about that. I just think if it f*#@s up your card than it should f*** mine even harder, cause in terms of raw power yours is almost twice as fast and it should take a lot more to overheat this thing. Oh, and has anyone tried underclocking the video ram? Should be interesting to know if that works.

Just read the second part with the graphics memory underclocking - the problems I fixed with that sound similar to Zolexus's. With the first part I just wanted to say that it runs stable on my system (maybe I rambled to much - sry about that). I'll edit it to make things clear.

Hmm, for a Bethesda Game it runs remarkebly stable on my PC. I had an issue, that the game used to freeze frequently for a few seconds in outside territories and very, VERY rarely it stayed freezed with sound still playing. Usually I could alt-tab the game and just restart it and if not, the PC would still shut down properly. After increasing the games memory usage to 2GB in the skyrim.ini file, the freezes practically vanished and it only happened ones at an autosave after a few hours in so I guess it's practically gone. By the way, I actually overclocked my CPU (and the RAM in the process) for the first time ever to play skyrim at higher settings and it didn't have any effect on its stability whatsoever (already a few days since). I just want to give you guys a counterperspective because Skyrim has been remarkably stable for such a huge game so far with very few freezes and even less after I used the RAM usage fix (which I did after the overclocking, by the way). I still have a tip though because Zolexus's problem reminds me of something I had with other games and a different graphics card. I had an XFX HD4870 before and in two games it crashed every five minutes with the picture turning gradually white or the monitor shutting off - in either case forcing me to cold reboot. ANY other games ran fine! After some research I found out that I actually had to underclock the graphics card memory from 900 (factory settings) to 800mhz and NOT the GPU and voila, everything ran fine. After that I exchanged the card for an HD4870 form sapphire and the issues disappeared. Maybe the memoryunderclocking is worth trying out for your kind of problem. EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also use the ENB Series dll file lately - this could also have a positive effect on stability: ENB Series Downloads
