  1. Do you have a MSI card? I don't run a laptop and also have a good PSU (Antec EA 650, rated 9.0 on JonnyGURU) I'm telling you, give it a try. Disabling the 2D clocks won't hurt your GPU if you have decent cooling. It's not energy efficient but not really harmful either. I've felt your pain, frustration, anger, and like you tried every fix in this thread to no avail. This fixed it 100% for me, and it's a huge relief off my shoulders despite my GPU having to idle at 49 degrees. Well I have a pretty standard cooling system, I dunno if it'll handle it, don't dare fry the thing ;P I guess I could monitor the GPU temperatures when I use that option, what temperature is too high?
  2. Hm I'm hesitant to disable 2D clocking on GPU as I don't like to fiddle around with standard options that make the GPU run the way it does just for one game. I'm not on a laptop and have a very good power supply. This overheating thing was in this thread a hundred pages ago. It doesn't work for me and it probably won't for you either. I made sure the temp didn't go beyond a certain point and it worked, for days it worked so I figured that was it. Till it started crashing again nevertheless, just like with all other so-called fixes that help you maybe for a week tops. It's like an adaptable supervirus this thing :P Haven't received any response on my most recent e-mail to their tech support and I don't think I ever will. This issue is being covered up. Very disappointing.
  3. Hola It's me, the OP again, funny thing, check the date on the OP and check the date of this reply. Skyrim still gives me the same problem, months of trying to fix this, I don't even believe any of the "I FIXED IT!!!! DO THIS!!" posts anymore as they do not help and quite frankly I've tried so many I'm tired of trying any more. This is the only game that gives me this problem, it is the only game that has ever given me this problem ever since I started gaming 20 years ago. None of their patches work, none of the other people's mods of so called "antifreeze" mods work. This may actually be the very first time I say this, as I've found other people saying it quite childish, but I mailed their tech support again and if they can't help me (again) I will never buy another game from Bethesda, download it sure, maybe after a couple of pirated versions of their games (and them working) I will concider purchasing another one.
  4. So after a few months I'm coming back to my thread. Did they fix this issue yet with the new patches? I'd like to sometime play this game I bought. Their customer support is a big fail as well.
  5. [ Sorry mate but this made me chuckle. To fix: disable grass/trees/sky :D
  6. Does anyone know some kind of site that collects signatures, so people can basically go there, choose "Skyrim black screen signatures" or so, and put down their signature? Dunno if that'd help in any way but honestly, after this amount of time no one from Bethesda has confirmed the issue or assured us that they're working on it. This is exactly the same like buying a refrigerator that shuts down every 10 min or so making your food go bad, you go back to the store you tell them about the issue and the store clerks simply ignore you and a massive amount of other people asking the same thing. I'd give that shop clerk a good shaking. Which is probably what we need to do.
  7. These crashes are really nothing I've ever seen before and I've been playing games for over 20 years now. I had no crash for about a week with the upping the GPU fan speed to never let the GPU go higher than 60 degrees. Now today for the first time I had my black screen crash again, I rebooted, 10 min of playing later I get it again. So now it's constant again. What's up with this? Tis spooky :P
  8. Sounds like a completely different issue like 99% of the people of this thread have mate. This is about a crash that happens randomly
  9. Open Catalyst control center (should be an icon in your quicklaunch bar). Go to performance - amd overdrive - go past the warning messages - make sure "enable graphic overdrive" is clicked - make sure "enable manual fan control" is clicked Then you put it to some percentage where you hear your fan louder than normal. In the game alt-tab frequently to monitor your GPU heat in that same overdrive panel. Don't let it get over 60. Again, it could be this isn't a fix. sometimes it can take a while to crash and I still haven't had much time to play. I'll keep you updated after a few more days playing. Concidering more people have tried this and still had crashes, I'm assuming this won't even fix it. For the person who said it was a graphic card issue and not a game issue, please read through the whole thread and also note that a game like this can not and will never "normally" overheat a crossfire radeon 6870, unless it was coded very badly, which this game is. Concidering the amount of ppl getting this issue with this game and not with others, I'd like it if ppl stopped posting "its the graphic card" because it isn't.
  10. Okay, so I have a program called SpeedFan... and I can monitor and set my fan speeds... but it's staying at a consistent 78-80 degrees... so how am I supposed to get it to 60? I just put the graphs on high, AA off and FXAA on, I use the catalyst (if you're using a radeon card you can use this too) manual overdrive thingy. I set the fan speed at 48% and the degrees don't go higher than 60. Putting it at any higher speeds will kill my ears and do no good anyways. If you put your fan at 100% and still don't go below 60 then I guess you'll have no choice to wait for a patch. If this is working for me (which I'm still not sure of, it can take some time before a crash to then happen every 10 min again, haven't had much time to play yet anyway) then the game just f*#@s up the video card at heats it can even handle. I have experienced crashes to desktop now, maybe if the crash isn't so sever due to high fan speeds, it just crashes to desktop instead of crash entirely? It is quite strange that I get CTDs now and I didn't before, but no black screens so far.
  11. I edited the original post of all things tried and failed already. Please read that first, nevertheless, we do of course appreciate anyone putting time into trying to solve this problem. I have upped my GPU fan speed to make the GPU never go higher than 60 degrees. So far no crashes for 2 days. Maybe this has solved it for me, but it's too early to cheer (and the fan noise works on my nerves ;)). Also in lower graphics to not "overheat" the "poor GPU". Something def. wrong with the game
  12. I tried many things that seemed to work for hours and then it crashed. It is random. I crashed every 10 min, did the 70% processor speed "fix", played for hours on end without problems to then crash the next day. Please tell us if your fix works for long periods of time, as in days in a row. Getting a bit confused with all the ppl saying their problem is fixed, altho it might've been just for a short while.
  13. Let's be clear on this - it is the game. It's not hardware, I am 100% positive it is the game. I have crossfired 6870, believe me my cards could run BF3 4 times simultaniously and still not lag or crash. I've never experienced anything like this hard crash before in any game at all, it also pops up randomly, even at times the GPU or CPU shouldn't be stressed at all. It definitely has nothing to do with "pushing it too hard". Be it the communication between game and hardware that causes malfunctions, it still is the game clearly not being tuned to some combinations of hardware. Most likely because lately games are made for consoles as well and those are giving people a LOT more issues. As a hardcore PC gamer, I'm starting to loathe consoles and the way designers are making games that were for PC first, for console now and actually thinking about PC compatibility last. GTA IV is a very painful example of that.
  14. The 70% percent processor usage worked for me for some hours, but now I had my first crash with it. Same thing, black screen blahblah. This doesn't fix it.
