  1. Hope to get your laughs with this one, guys! I want to explore the relationship between the curvature depth, altitude and planet size. What's missing is the planet size. So I would like to have the planet radius/diameter displayed in the small window when you scan it from space.
  2. It took about 9 years to kill Freelancer. Played that like a manic. Probably the most influential game in my life aside The Elder Scrolls games. After 3-4 years since release, there were hundreds of players online playing mindblowing mods. Aside from Discovery, Crossfire, Underverse, Tekagi's Revenge (new name of Tekagi's Treasure) which still exist, there were Tekagi's Treasure (mod with cool ships, weapons and universe map - at mid 2006...), Asgard (mod with very hard and long fights), WTS World (a collection of several scifi universes, like Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Freespace), Solurus Systems (basically based on Star Trek), BSG (Battlestar Galactica, made to resemble the new series), Frontierspace (the Elite universe, interesting factions)... and others that I don't remember. So there were a lot of mods, each modding team was working on mods for very small player communities. No Man's Sky has problems, indeed. A more loneliness feeling than Freelancer, which basically had a human universe, with human factions, with foes yelling at you "When I'll be done with you there won't be anything left to ID", and a plethora of ship comms that made it human. A human touch NMS is missing. Take it, NMS is more a feature than a game. Space combat is quite poor done - going thru inventory to recharge shield or beams is a seriously let down - but it's improvable. They could add a localized online aspect to it - such as servers rather than a unique world, features for players to find each other, base building in space or on ground. Fair fights like in Freelancer, no goddamn ewar like in Eve Online. So there is a lot of potential and a lot of reason to mod it. Space tourism is what NMS is good at it right now. For me the first things that I'd like to see in NMS would be to have a distinction between ships - at least between the 3 classes, in terms of base stats, such as more firepower for scientist class, better shielding for trader class, better turn rate for fighter class and also keys to recharge shield and phase beam. And then a system of unique upgrades, hard to get, and available only from certain factions - like in Freelancer.
  3. Hmm, don't know how you did it. I took the files from the link (including that version of MLibCompiler). Extracted one pak to workspace folder. Ok, I see the tool works to decompile... However, I tried manually... E:\MYFILES\NOMANSKY>mbincompiler workspace/language/nms_loc1_useenglish.mbin Unhandled Exception: System.IO.EndOfStreamException: Unable to read beyond the end of the stream. at System.IO.BinaryReader.FillBuffer(Int32 numBytes) at System.IO.BinaryReader.ReadUInt32() at MBINCompiler.Models.NMSTemplate.DeserializeValue(BinaryReader reader, Type field, NMSAttribute settings, Int64 templatePosition, FieldInfo fieldInfo, NMSTemplate parent) at MBINCompiler.Models.NMSTemplate.DeserializeBinaryTemplate(BinaryReader reader, String templateName) at MBINCompiler.MBINFile.Load() at MBINCompiler.Program.DecompileFile(String input, String output) at MBINCompiler.Program.Main(String[] args) And I really want to make a big batch file to decompile the entire game (all the mlibs) so that I can search then for stuff in the exml files.
  4. NMS Modspace: http://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/126/? Thanks, will give it a try!
  5. I could not decompile MBINs with MBINCompiler. Which tool are you using ?
  6. I don't get how to use the MLIBCompiler. For instance, I picked NMSARC553AF401 . Upon unpacking with psarc, it makes 4 folders: LANGUAGE, MATERIALS, METADATA, MODELS. First time I ran MLIBCompiler without parameters and it crashes. Then I did: E:\MYFILES\NOMANSKY>MBINCOMPILER /? Usage: MBINCompiler [Input File or Folder] Will write decompiled output to [Input File].exml or [Input Folder]\*.exml Usage: MBINCompiler [Input Folder] [Output Folder] Will write decompiled & recompile files from [Input Folder] and write them to [Output Folder] Recompiling .exml back to .mbin is available for testing, use at your own risk! So I said to try it on the LANGUAGE folder: E:\MYFILES\NOMANSKY>mbincompiler LANGUAGE Output folder not specified. Bulk compile aborted. Obviously the first syntax didn't work. Now the second: E:\MYFILES\NOMANSKY>mbincompiler LANGUAGE LANGUAGE-XML No error message, no folder output, nada. What's the catch ?
  7. Well with key pressed. Cause without there should be a threshold, a level when auto should kick in, pretty complex. I am used to pressing keys for that, since I am a Freelancer player; there, you can restore shield as long as you have batts and armor as long as you have nanos... So if I push for instance the key to recharge the shield, it should pick the resources from inventory according to a priority list: Iron, Titanium, Zinc ; if I have Iron and Zinc for instance, should use the Iron first and then the Zinc after Iron was depleted. Same rule for everything else. (In this example I considered Zinc with the least priority as it is harder to get...). I'd love to have some serious dogfighting, for the moment space for me is just for travel, which is quite lame...
  8. Think I'll have to be looking myself into this, anybody has an idea which mbin is responsible for this ?
  9. There's no problem to have some random system in a nebula, but all in nebulas is really strange. I want to see space black again. Not even Freelancer was that yellowish. Ya, Sigma13 was in a cyan nebula, but nebulas were covering systems just partially in general...
  10. I want to have keys so that recharging any component should be doable without going thru inventory, clicking on the element, then clicking again to open items list and then picking each, especially for stuff where recharging quickly is critical. So: - key to recharge shields - like in any other space game! - key to recharge phase beam - key to recharge mining beam (multitool) - key to recharge boltcaster (multitool) - key to recharge life support - key to recharge hazard protection And other keys if you guys know other things I didn't list. Am I unreasonable ?
