Mods Separate "Mods requiring this file" from "Requirements"
cyan49 posted a topic in Suggestion Board
This leads to users misinterpreting that a mod requires all those mods. It happens, I'm not lying, because it happened to me in the past. Experienced users may disagree, but this change should be in line with Nexus' policy of makes modding easy. Also, if I remember correctly, there were some feedbacks like this on the old feedback boards with many upvotes. Another related thing is that "Mods requiring this file" should exclude Translation tagged mods, because all Translation mods are accessible under "Translations" on the same mod page, I'm saying that Translation mods are listed twice unnecessarily. This causes the "Mods requiring this file" list to often swell to 100+ for popular mods, which is just inconvenient for users. Why does this mod require 100+ mods to install? This misreading happens. Same topic: For moderators, here is a link to an old popular feedback that is now unavailable, posted by Pickysaurus: https://feedback.nexusmods.com/posts/391/requirement-section-improvement -
"Search comments..." is thin, pale grey text on a white background, probably enough that casual users will miss it, and it looks out of place with the current site design. Just changing the color and font, or adding the same magnifying glass icon as the quick search, would be a big improvement. Or placing it like the Add comment button, on the same line, would make sense. Sorry, this was originally my request on the old feedback board, but I can't remember if it got any response. I hope this feedback gets more priority now that Nexus is bringing back mod comment search and caring about contrast and accessibility.

Not sure. For me it popped up on the Skyrim SE game page, so I pasted in a 2,000 word love letter I'd written beforehand on a notepad. "... It's odd that you guys read the 3 on a 5 star rating as "positive" instead of "neutral". Please understand that this time I have given a "very bad" rating to emphasize that my feedback is negative, but only for this purpose." If you're curious, the survey basically asked users to rate something and then explain why. I was also asked which of Trending Mods/Popular Collections/More Mods/Media I was using (or interested? I don't remember the exact question), so I checked everything except Collections. And I was asked to report a bug, so I reported the one I remembered, but only remembered the other one after I closed it. I was also given the option to submit my discord username, but they said the survey would remain anonymous. That's all.

Luckily, I just found the Hot Jar survey and answered it, but after closing it, I remembered one thing to put in a bug report. On the mod page, including my mod, under Permissions and credits, Donation Points system, it says "Please log in to find out whether this mod is receiving Donation Points" but I am logged/signed in. The link leads to the following message: "You are already signed in." It's likely unrelated to the Mod Browsing Overhaul, but I can say with confidence that it at least happened after the site was updated.

Just reporting that the following page is not found, though I don't know if it worked before. It's in "See all" under "Notifications". https://www.nexusmods.com/games/notifications/collections

Can Nexus share a roadmap for improvements based on feedback later in a Monthly Roundup or something? I want to know what feedback catches your eye and what doesn't. I'm seeing them start to care about contrast these days. I believe I read that the option to change the default page or toggle specific content (in my case, it's Popular Collections) is planned, I'm not sure if I misread them though. I'd say twice about Popular Collections for visibility, I know it's a favorite of casual users and Nexus, but how much sense do you think it would make to have the top two Collections on permanent display there? Please just put them normally like More Mods and Media, and add the option to move them under More Mods or Media. To be clear, I don't like Collections but putting that aside, I am giving feedback on this discussion, Mod Browsing Overhaul, and this is a discussion, I would rather it be answered than ignored, even if my feedback is dismissed. My question is whether this kind of feedback was passed on to staff? (I don't mind if you answer this the way I suggested in the first line)

Reactions, heart or like buttons, on the mod comment page
cyan49 replied to cyan49's topic in Suggestion Board
Unfortunately the old feedback board I linked to has been disabled so I'll explain briefly again: mod author reacts to comments with hearts, and anyone can give a like to a worthy comment, this is how react without bloating the comments. Without this, thanks and +1 (meaning agree/vote) will make comments less functional, especially while comment search function is dead. -
That wasn't what I said, IIRC the survey had a five-point rating and an optional text area, but it popped up as early as possible and if the user submitted the five-point rating without thinking twice, there was no way to enter details and resubmit. I'm pretty sure this is what they call the positive 80% response.

You'll get more useful feedback than you did with the previous optional BETA. You know what was weird about the survey for the open BETA? The survey popup started seconds after I joined the BETA, it should have waited a few hours or days? It was like "In first impression, do you like it or not?" I ignored it for a while and answered it later, but I don't know if it was the same for other people. And we only allowed one answer, people were not allowed to change their mind later. (Deleting cookies might have brought back the popup but I'm not sure about this anymore).

I'm a bit disappointed that the "Popular Collections" option is still in a bad position even though it was mentioned in popular posts on this thread. Moving it under "More Mods" would let us show more Collections, instead of the top 2 Collections shoved between Trending Mods and More Mods, without taking up space on each game page.

Thanks Pickysaurus! Reason: "Uploading a fake mod claiming to be a "Memory Cleaner" for Fallout 4."
-
Reason: "Sending a weird abusive PM to a member of staff." lol
-
I didn't expect this so I don't have any screenshots. Thanks to the quick response by Nexus, they won't stay there for long, but it's true that 1,000 UDLs is a low threshold.
-
That's good, but the problem is that the hacked account is often already a verified mod author, so they will probably first delete all their uploaded mods and post a fake one.
-
I saw him literally everywhere lol, but I think it was his way of thanking the mod authors. Anyway I know he's not a bot because he admitted before that he looks like a bot.
-
To me, changelogs are never optional, just like we're not allowed to upload a mod without a description. Then mod authors can add it to mod descriptions, sticky posts, mod file descriptions, or all of them as needed. Usually changelogs are in one of those places, but it's inconvenient when they're not in a place they should be. I know that changelogs in changelogs aren't effective for casual users, but leaving changelogs blank affects regular users.
-
End users, yes, they all look the same. Modders, yes too, lol. It's Bethesda and Nexus that are trying to define the difference between mods, creations, DLC, mini-dlcs and verified creations, not me.
-
UESP = The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages. Objective information is often more useful, but when quoting please refer to the BethesdaNet FAQ instead. You've proven yourself that CC and VC are different things, so I'm not sure what to add.

It's easy to misunderstand, but they are different. The former is Creation Club, which is already over. The latter is Verified Creation, which is a current topic.
-
But that's not what I'm saying. In this example, users can create patches, but only Verified Creators can release them to their own patch hub.
-
Just one raw idea, but an example of how Nexus could change their guidelines with minimal changes would be to only allow Verified Creators to upload patches. One patch hub per Verified Creation might work somewhat ideally. Patches should be provided by the authors themselves and their Discord users or something. This reduces the costs of moderating Advertising Limitations and other rules.
-
Sorry, I gave up. Have a nice day.

Honestly I already missed your point, but does this old quote help you? Cartogriffi said this on Discord: Q: Did we ever get an answer as to whether perms are granted for patching paid mods? A: The rules for free community creations are the same for everyone, whether they're Verified or not. So, it's not something we went out of our way to clarify. But yes, generally speaking Verified Creators can release free content that requires/modifies their paid content. Or approve such releases by others. There are potentially edge cases where things get complicated, but nothing comes to mind. If you want to see for yourself, copy and paste the context into the search bar on the Bethesda Game Studios Discord.
