I believe I've found the issue. Annoyingly it was the 2.02 version of SMIM that was causing the freezing, they've updated to 2.03 which should fix the issue. Also I've uninstalled footprints, as a precaution, because I have heard of people reporting issues with this mod as well (though I haven't encountered any myself)

I've been experiencing seemingly random but recreatable freezing lately (random pond outside Whiterun, entering Riften, and exploring the Dawnguard sanctuary) after installing two mods. The issues still persist after uninstalling those mods. I feel the issues may be due to my Skyrim not being a 'clean' install (meaning that old mods may not have been properly deleted) after I uninstalled and reinstalled Skyrim sometime later. It would seem that the certain world spaces cause the freezing but installing Open Cities fixed the Riften issue. I've tried several fixes (ENBoost, Memory fixes, bugs, etc) and nothing worked. I've verified the game cache as well and cleaned the mods using TESedit. I can't seem to find the issue. GTX 970 i5-4690 (non-k) LOOT Papyrus.0
