  1. ah yeah, that totally sucks, it's nothing you did, im not too knowledgeable on details but do remember reading from somewhere that DAA runs completely independent from DOA, which no longer makes it an expansion but an individual retail product...(..?) which means they kind of made a special "compressed" version of the engine and for some an unknown or unintentional reason didnt think console was necessary (yeah right!@), who knows, all that -is- known is that you cant use it sux :| i think someone made some base cheats for it though lemme check yep right here ---> http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=347 BUT DONT CELEBRATE yet.. cause i dont think its what you seek that still doesnt give you the rest of the scripts, sadly it might be in the source-code but not certainly, never seen NWN/bioware sourcecod, though im sure "equivalent functions" could be duplicated for similar results to the originals... but would require rebuilding them from scratch...something that simply shoulda been included for our own benefit i hope to be proven wrong now i remember that was one of the main thnigs that bothered me in DAA, it was.........to say the least.........ahem........... (punch me in the face before i say it!!! trust me ill deserve it) .....an rude awakening (oooooooh how amazingly creative hyaahah time for bed) ;[
  2. tell you what elooo, i am also new to this place (says since 06, but i didnt discover this till..a month ago if that, by an "accidental" click on nexus) and can understand not wanting to annoy its senior members, i found myself asking one of the friendlier people on here the exact same question that you created a Thread for, especially since blast anyones eyes at the rate that i type, on top of being easily distracted and even speaking off topic half of the time - see i am doing it right now by telling you my emotional problems :p hahah seriously, this is what i think, and the approach i am also going to take, wether or not it gets me killed remains to be seen treat this place like your real life, so to speak, as far as acting on instinct, making a thread if it "feels" right or is something of interest to you, and i can guarantee 9/10 it'll be just fine. the worst that could happen is - absolutely nothing, which is what happens in the event of hesitation regardless, no? i have no other outlet to discuss gaming related things, online or otherwise, can be kinda dull when u cant chit-chat or BS about stuff you like i say go for it, make a thrad with screenshots, and bring up random conversation, who wants to be in a place where you're walking on egg shells anyway, rite? in my case only thing i worry about is changing topics 5 times within 1 reply, its a tunnel vision attention kinda thing do it ,do as you please (obviously u arent gonna do anything Crazy or against rules, i mean aside from hat) and carry yourself as you would in your everyday life so far i have been received surprisingly well and im pretty insane, plus, if no one responds to your threads, they probably werent gonna interact with ya in the first place, and who wants to "post to please", or only participate in topics discussions etc that are Approved by those Before you, for they were once new as well etc, etc -rants for about another 2000 words then ends it with do your thing, i know i plan on doin mine ;] edited to maek sure...about something heh
  3. i agree with wolf that was classic :D hey so what problems are you having with the items not appearing, are you using a toolset based module that spawns them by plot check. sort of like some of the tutorials out there? or is it an resource issue with textures, if its within the toolset, i just yesterday discovered how to make them appear indefinitely via script-only, and if you destroy em they reappear in inventory, sort of like no helmet mod or "bag of kittens" etc, its easy to do, i am literally brand new at this and this guys tutorial took between 10-20 minutes to accomplish scuscsffuly herse the link for ya This gets your "module" created and can be the base for whatever else you do This gives you the final/best/upgraded script template he uses and best results, in my op i went through 3 of these tutorials, 2 yesterday and this one just a bit ago, i believe this is the best one in my experience (latest patch fyi) This one spawns every time no matter what, when you start NEW GAME, the very first load your items wont appear - dont panic, just quicksave/load and everything is back to normal (like any other mods) i will apologize ahead of time for any of the possibilities 1.) it wasnt what you were looking for 2.) it wasnt what you meant 3.) you already knew how to do this stuff and are offended, i come in peace ;D 4.) you dont use the toolset whatsoever 5.) i am crazy and you're calling tphe police hahah hope it rhelps ohh wait wait in case i am addressign yur issue heresa the exact script i used -removed script code cause of flaws kinda annoying to do the check for each item, but this is Certified (well by me anyway) and have tested on 3 diff characters + new game, just change "_VG" to your module name and you should be good to go! :D alrighty then folks

  5. i just assaulted Dwolf's inbox with this mod that just came out today apparently it has an extremely detailed description, but to sum it up ... gives better (and configurable) loot, increases difficulty (you may finding yourself craving a challenge in higher levels), and merges a few other Essential, and i mean Essential mods out there, such as auto-loot, advanced tactics (expanded party tactics - god-like)..and uh...oh yeah, skip the fade, but you'll want to experience the fade before you skip it, lol. so if u do try this DONT install skip the fade, capiche? ;] perhaps its a release of biblical proportion to me in particular, as it provides a difficulty scale i have been trying nearly 3 weeks to achieve, i use D:awakenings as a base and even without it found my character blazing through enemies on nightmare...i am now the blaz-ee thanks to this, hell yeah@fear of dying!!! :D id rant on forever but i had forgot i ahd tthis when i got home and am now too eager to play the game for me to type another wo.... -disappears
  6. not bad, not bad at all initially i said "what, ogre? ok someone's been smoking something".....but was surprisingly corrected and put in place from your concept which legitimized it all and put it into a pretty applicable layout i think this is pretty damn cool, i say why the hell not? it seems pretty much on-track with bioweezies methods, no foreign elements that stand out or seem odd with some cost/buff ratio experimentation, and customized "talent" activator -visual- effects (definitely adds to individuality, making it feel "seperate" not recycled as far as graphics or whatever), i would Definitely choose this over the berserk clas which i dont care for, more so because it seems more fitting, universally fitting to any character type due to the blood mag./darkspawn taint, etc, if it was up to me, i'd replace berserkh with this entirely haha. hey, awesome job/thinking!
  7. ahah, i suppose in theory that is correct. but considering, and i do not know how to put this without shooting myself in the face in the process, but considering a fair amount of exposure or experiences (yeah pretty much killed myself there) i tend to be someone who isn't too drawn to the "lust-ish" aspect in any video game i am into - nor do i haev a problem to people who make love to their models in a lonely dark corner, in fact, i tend to see my PC usage and gaming...as a RETREAT from such things...hahahah i know right, yeah :p
  8. indeed he does, one of my first thoughts if the cutscene animations could be used for normal function, though i see it being less likely than more heres something to find out - do any other npcs use that walk in-game regularly, or any other note-worthy anims?
  9. i can absolutely relate to that, about gaming/sudden change as opposite gender, its strange i have gone through the campaign several times as a female, and simply....ended it suddenly each time, sometimes half way through or before the landsmeet its kind of cool to use an evil female character, something is captivating about that in a sense but i dont know, ive done the 'change of heart' thing a handful of times never thought about until i read what she said just now perhaps it -does- have to do with roleplaying? ive never been good at "getting into character", my older brother was a d&d guy and i used to stare at em like a confused mabari wondering how it is they could get so into it, staying up for weekends at a time (no they werent speed freaks - lol)....perhaps that has nothing to do with it and its just an internal emotional config...how strange. not a life-altering mystery but still i cant put my finger on it... in the end, it always 'feels better to me', to play as a male, its a weird comfort, perhaps i hate all women deep down inside!!! muahahah, jk interesting....
  10. i believe the dragon age redesigned only changes their morphs, i use the authors "moriggan", i dont recall them change loadouts, etc those are actually the .utc files within the "characters" directory if i remember correctly, i havent ran IA since i installed the editor, but im almost 100% positive that'll point your solution

  12. i'd have to agree with broken, well said although i have a soft spot for OB/FO due to the endless of hours it helped me kill for months on end - mainly by experimenting and not even really playing - i believe dragon age is in an entirely different class of gaming...its hard not to be biased when the quality factor is In-Your-Face the bethesda engine has always essentially felt like an W.I.P/Sandbox with extensive scripting capabilities i guess - that you can just run around and do meaningless activities in, over and over and over again. everything "works", and there is a "purpose"..but it's kinda like...kinda like a screen saver....i dont know exactly what i mean by that either dont worry. the voice acting quality always lacked as well as actual dialogue itself. they get some hollywood "famous" voice for the introductions & that's about as engaging as the story gets. now go --- go and explore an empty world that feels abandoned until our modding volunteers finish the job another thing that bothers me is the animation blending/events/visual aspect of overall interaction of...functioning entities overall. it feels so forced. hard to explain, but when an npc is like "follow me", you can almost see the the AI at work on a different level. Stand>turn>rotate 90 degrees, straight line, rotate again, sit". wow thats a colorful way of putting it..just picture doing the "robot" at a night club the minute you start playing it out of the box you instantly accept the fact that the ending will either suck or feel as meaningless as the bowel movement you experienced 20 minutes earlier - who cares, its over, its done and it stank, Next? you never expect anything "big", and most can barely relate to the "characters". another thing is i could have sworn i've heard the "baurus" voice actor for the past 10 years, haha...come on man...please..someone....new... if it wasnt for martigen's mod, and similar "overhauls", "three-dog" could easily have been confused with a man hallucinating on LSD, cause all these mutants, slavers and whatever chaos was being described was Less of a threat than taking fall damage, or crashing when you havent saved in 20 minutes. if it wasnt for the beth modding community, i doubt many of us would even find the game worthy of discussion today unless we were talking about how bad it sucked, naturally there's a certain emotional detachment combined with the random weirdness of their games that never sits well with me at the end of the day, a typical conversation in that game is like "Hey Billy" - "Hey there walter, im sick of these giant ants attacking me" "You sure enjoy eating carrots Billy". its like oh yeah? Right on. pretty sweet. once you get mods like martigen's, or "in game utility/gadgets", i think the player finds him/herself caring less and less about the story and overall environment. their engines always prove to be good benchmarking to see how your pc is doing, no engine on earth uses your HD RPMS (in particular), gpu, system memory, processor bandwidth, Simultaneously, as big bertha does. i remember using enclave commander with the feral ghoul rampage and staying stuck in those tunnels for months haha. it just becomes a world a random gaming greatness while accomplishing absolutely nothing. DOA on the other hand....well now, this title is just special. ive never fallen for an RPG this hard...i am here on this forum after all for better or worse. i dont think ive ever replayed, or had the desire to reply any title in my 20 odd years of gaming as much as i have with this one, and i'm haaaard core FPSer to sum up my endless monologue, dragon age is in a league of its own from my perspective, whether it be quality, attention to detail, amount of content and replayability of the RETAIL product with no mods-for-crutches etc, i say it scores a 9.5 need to work on trimming my posts down could have summed it all up in my last sentence :p spel chek an-im-audi 5000
  13. thank you so much for that, any form of knowledge is so very extremely welcome in this stage, really it is :] im going to read links, and try applying my stealing dog-treats from animals concept. i knew modifying each individual loadout was "butchery", taking up extra resources and of course asking to clash with other mods etc.... but you take results anyway you can when you start, ya know? it keeps you motivated to improve crap, didnt mean to derail thread - its just exciting for me at this stage, shhhhhh no rants p.s. i will let you know when i get it working as a sign of appreciation & confirmation you didnt waste your time, thanks again friend!! ;D

[ i read a quick tutorial just to get an idea what the deal is regarding importing and exporting meshes, theres a few ways either by command lines from a utility for 3ds or apparantly another plugin has been made with an actual visual interface (hope its just as reliable) , while the ability to do what is needed appears to be present - there is some compatibility issues and more confusion than there is answers (googled, lurked, head shakes), as far as i can tell, there has been no solid, or mainstream utility that can do this with ease - as far as the Anims go that is, or even a model/mod releases with custom anims implemented (correct me if im wrong im very absent minded) the best bet to accomplish this inmy opinion is to find out if it can actually be done through some sort of script that replaces the walking anim called on by default...or....to use an animation from the anims.erf and simply do a swap with the current manly ones - avoiding possible skeleton corruption upon import/? i hate sounding ignorant, its so ignorant heh yeah wolf, for sure - zev doing the glorious "runway" stroll would definitely be worth some laughs....after you puke in your soup hahahah, out of all people why does ru paul come to my head? .....bad question i just set myself up :p i really wish i had the motivation to look into this for you guys - but the toolset has taken over my life and i'm in an seriously intense learning period and i simply cant picture stopping the fun to dabble in this :/ on the other hand, if anyone who has in fact transferred animations into the game successfully would like to give me a basic rundown or a template, then such a "shortcut" would definitely get me moving a pretty worthless post, but thought i'd share whatever i learned p.s. a seasoned scripter familiar with the engine could definitely put more substance and provide a bit more clarity regarding this topic, to see if scripts should be considered or disregarded in the entire processwhatsoever
  15. hmm, ive noticed starting games with certain mods that are "unlockers", such as...open areas, any origin, etc...can somehow...bork the games settings, like getting 2-4 'ranks' per attribute point, etc it could very well be that a flag is triggered after the first 'main quest' has initiated/been completed, to where if it doesnt detect that you spoke to em, its like leaving sten behind or whatever, might cause a failure, and seeing how this sequence of events couldnt have been predicted by the devs...it might just leave an "open quest" this is all speculation from a new booty of course im Not very familiar with the engines quest/logic system i wish i had more than theories for ya, heres another possible solution if you have the editor installed alright i just took a peek while replying a.) open up the save-game in the editor, expand SAVEGAME_CAMPAIGN>SAVEGAME_JOURNAL>SAVEGAME_JOURNAL_ACTIVE_LIST find your quest...and look for SAVEGAME_JOURNAL_QUEST_COMPLETED, set to 1, and see what happens, at least it'll "disappear" rather than stay as incomplete...this is assuming it doesn't blow your machine up first haha, what i mean to say is i cant confirm if it'll work, but thought it might be worth a try good luck buddy :] edited for spsll checkv

  17. well, have you tried loading up the dragon creature itself, adding your custom item into its inventory and selecting it as "droppable?" im guessing since there isnt a lot of dragon encounters, you wouldnt have to edit any sort of loot table/treasure type since you dont want other enemies dropping it randomly thats what i've done to a handful of ambient life npcs, putting a "steak bone" gift on dogs if you steal, or a sword as loot for an enemy lt. rank, etc perhaps what you seek is more complicated, but its all i could think of as im new as well

  19. it's not uncommon for gaming engines to use certain humanoid anim/bone/collision sets that are applied to "universal" events... say sitting down, convohand gestures or wide-shared actions that pretty much every npc type uses at one time or another i think i remember noticing its the same for either gender as well here's what may help getting a lot closer to hatching this idea 1.) is playermodel just like any other humanoid npc type, does it use the standard human_female as a base? or is it a special model with extended specs for player special functions or something. 2.) IF model is special/bi-gender? , is there a way to separate walk animation replacement from affecting the male model as well, having the male pc walk like ru paul would be bad :D 3.) are the walk/run animations cross compatible with regular npcs? or do they have "special" north east west south movement/event schemes if they are indeed cross compatible one could probably replace it would a different female walk animation meant for civilian npc types, such as uh...female_patrol_walk used in fem denerim guards or something... if what wolf said is right about having to embed custom animation into each armor/model type, which would make sense since they do in fact replace the bare skin model, you'd have to apply the special animation to either every single armor piece/set, or only the ones you're sure you will use - so that you can see the changes theres a chance of pulling this off if player shares models with race model type, quanari, human etc you could slap the standard "female villager" walk in there as a replacement or whatevers clever as a replacement, if, if well actually i was about to end the post... but.. if every piece of armor has the embedded animations..which it has to be, that means the player walk bone structure is fully compatible with every armor type, massive medium etc, so actually i dont see why a regular female civilian walking anim couldnt be imported into the model and have it only apply on a per-model basis what would be cool and helpful is a tutorial with a basic Woriking template for imp/exp anims in models but...what if there is a MASTER set of npc_type animations that are compiled into a single batch_anim. filetype....that would be no fun at all.. too many "if" and "what ifs" & not enough time to start fiddling one last if...what if..(lol) moving animations are controled via master_script, and simpyl changing the "player move N. E. W. S." functions could be altered for player_female walk event....to trade off with an alternative walking animation? it would affect only the players or same-race party members, right?
  20. yeah that's extremely weird, who the heck starts over in the middle of the game......that is just i have started over so many times it might even be considered illegal to go through that many (1/4 or 1/2, even 3/4)play throughs with a single retail copy hahahah (<---kinda disturbing actually) sometimes it's because i notice something on the PC's face i don't like, such as nostril at a certain angle in a conversation..or cheeks being too sucked in.. sometimes it's because i want to go through different stages of the game with different genders or "alignments", sometimes it's because of - sometimes being because of something else hahah :[ the worst part about it all is that each and every time.....i obsessively try to get every codec, every quest - Everything - for Nothing!! its terrible, i've completed the game a single time since the day i've bought it, and every day i wonder about certain decisions and endings, yet i can never seem to get there, i have yet to try the dwarven backround or the dalish elf origins - yet i have no real desire or curiosity to find out, i will before the sequel maybe heh, human noble/magi or female city elf is the routine i stick to for some reason so the answer is Yes, stopped deleted, started fresh very very many times... i am ashamed

  22. i hear ya dude, there is a handful of sick ass armor models for warriors and rouges, problem is a lot of them are buried within other mods or projects, it can make it a lot harder to find ones that stand out and blend into the lore 'tastefully'... as far as beefy male armors or what not thing is, if these models/mods weren't so popular creators would eventually either keep to themselves or simply go another route if exposure is what they seek..let me think of a universally compatible comparison.. alright check this out, this situation is identical to a guy at work saying "god damn it, i cant stand Brittney spears, can you believe the crap people listen to today, where is all the Real music! bald headed beeeyatch!!" and chances are half or more of the people around ya will agree, but she's still gettin millions of sales off to a certain faithful audience..wait it gets a bit more complex.. lets go into the environment in which the distribution is taking place...another double edged sword... if you go to the social abomination site you probably wont notice many (if any at all) "free spirited" creative content, such as...Mage Staff banana Replacement v 1.2 (sorry if that words illegal bahah) , and so you have a pretty strict, limited and uptight environment along with residents to match.. so my friend you have to look at the big picture here nexus is probably the only site ive seen that has a really welcoming environment for all types of creativity and taste, while simultaneously maintaining a professional feel, look and respectable environment, and this i believe should be be embraced greatly while it lasts, hopefully forever yes i know, you're going to get 50%, maybe even 75% R-Rated activity as a result, however, quality content that truly improves your game play experience and extends replayability by a billion percent is just as well received, distributed and encouraged, this site is incredibly versatile with its content, and i support that even if it means i have to go through 25 "leliana shellfish anal beadz high rez" mods to get to a single .. "lore friendly" outfit that wont stick out like a sore thumb in the game's overall environment as i said, your concern/view is absolutely valid, but the alternative to this place would be...well, the social abomination site where i refuse to register at and lets not even scratch the surface on why not. of course you could name a dozen "mod sitez" that have some decent material, but this place here combines accessibility to content for multiple, majorly popular and quality game titles at the tip of your fingers, integrated into a single super user friendly interface that is consistently updated, maintained with a pretty solid user base, for the most part and from what i've seen so far what i really respect is the,,,"business" practice (from what i can tell) found here as well, there are indeed benefits to people who can shell out a bit of cash, but those who cant, wont or dont shell a penny out (i fall in all 3 of those hahah) dont feel "limited" or carry the stigma of restricted or limited overall functionality, it may not seem like it, but -all- of this plays an equally important role in the very existence and i hope great success of this place, nothing is perfect right? plus man, im not into over the top XXX style content, but some of it is actually pretty cool and a lot of times you have numerous choices to select from, i have at least 3 or 4 "skimpy" outfits in my install, and of Course all of the women are nude...look it sucks that youre having a hard time finding what you need, but the alternative as i see it, is no alternative at all damn i lost my train of thought hopefully its not too bad, my posts are like "doodles" and who double checks those i didnt mean to go Too off topic there but its safe to say all of this is mostly relative in the end.......well ya gotta take it for what it is brother ;] spell check and im outtie
  23. hey friend, thank you very much for sharing this over looked info, if i could trouble you with a question for further clarity, any further info would be greatly appreciated this happened right before i stumbled on your thread... i have a modified autoscale and difficulty gda in a directory of their own, it always seemed to kick in and now seems nullified after i did an entire clean sweep today, fresh start hand picked files etc my understanding from what i've read, is that for fail-safe implementation i should have each of these gdas in their own directory, yeah? and one last question i promise regarding confirmation that settings are working,,,do they kick in immediately within client restart, or do i have to transition to a new area/map previously undiscovered to let effects kick in thanks for the tip!
  24. very interesting bruno, the only thing i can imagine the temp folder associating itself with DOA..is the the ms sql server using it as a "temporary" vessel for data flow/transactions...vista has a superior hierchy than xp which i am somewhat familiar with but certainly not seasoned..they may know stuff i cant even scratch the surface of, nothing is worse than..mystery just dont let them "you may want to contact your hardware manufacturer" cause then you know it's a complete decoy pretending to analyze the issue and finding nothing wrong on their end, aside from a series of checksum tests and driver versions etc...my ignorance doesnt allow me to see what vital diagnostics pertinent to the memory management crashes they will get from that well perhaps they want to make sure basic "requirements" are as they should be before helping you further in depth, or perhaps the OS handles the engine differently, or the engine handles itself different based on OS, well yeah obviously..BAH "experienced amateur" such as myself often makes it sound like i know what im saying while in fact im clueless alllrighty lets not make a sequel to the mega-rant Silence yourself veteran gamer let us know what happens Bruno, for the sake of knowledge, please :]
