  1. I am actually really curious about what the appeal is. I would not care if it was a really fringe minority who dibbled in it, but it seems a very common thing, even by people who put a ton of time and thought to their game. I am actually curious what it is.
  2. I am not sure if I am missing something, but why are so many mods so popular that make the characters look like some vapid "fashion models" with spiky hair that looks like some fourteen year old that just walked out of a Justin Bieber concert? I am not trying to bash on anybody, but I just want to understand the appeal and why people like to play with these abominations.
  3. Yes me to, but that uninstalled them. But I thought that you can diactivate or activate mods normally by just unckecking or checking the .esp in Mod Manager? Or have I been mistaken?
  4. I wonder if it is possible to mix different flora mods so that you can use one as a base but perhaps take some flora you really like in another? For example I usually install Flora Overhaul first (has really nice trees etc) and then after that I install Verdant over that since I like that grass overall a bit better. However there are some plants from Flora Overhaul that I really love. Is it possible to somehow modify or do something to use some of the flora from one mod and some from the other? Are they using the same "slots" so that you can create your own package depending on which files you keep from each mod?
  5. I downloaded the official fallout 4 texture pack DLC and noticed that the .esp was turned off by default in the Nexus Mod Manager. The strange thing though was that no matter if I had the .esp ticked or not in the manager it would still use the high textures. The only way to not use the textures was to uninstall this completely. Why was the textures not turned off when unchecking the .esp in Nexus? Also on a sidenote, it was really strange because I had stable 60fps in the game, but the game still stuttered like crazy with the texture mod installed. Only way to solve it was to uninstall it. I don't get it though since the game showed stable 60fps even when stuttering.
  6. Is there some other alternative to Armorsmith Extended mod that let's you wear things together like gasmask and helmet, but that does not add or modify a lot of stuff? I would like to wear things together that make sense, but I don't want to change the core mechanics of stuff too much just yet like this mod does.
  7. Thank you. Why should I not use SMIM though when testing if I want to use those meshes later anyway? Would it not be best to test with them then? Also is there cases where textures come with meshes and can it cause problems if you remove one texture you dont like but there is a mesh left that conflcts with another texture?
  8. I wonder if it is possible to create your own mix of different textures by mixing favorite textures from different packs? Or is that inviting trouble? For example I really like some textures from the NobleSkyrimMod but I really dislike some of the ground textures in the cities. Is it possible to just use the textures I want and then use textures from some other mods on some of the other textures? If so is it hard to do and is there any way to do it smoothly? (Would really love some kind of "gallery" ingame where you could look at different texture mods and pick and choose the textures you want by live demonstration. That would be awesome but I guess it would be very hard to do?) Also I wonder how it works when you install and uninstall things in Nexus Mod Manager. Say that I install one texture pack (texture back A) and then I install texture back B and when it asks if I want to overwrite I choose yes to mod (I think this is always the right choice?). If I then uninstall texture pack B, will that put back all the textures that got overwritten in texture pack A? From what I recall this is how it should work?
  9. I know that the last time I modded skyrim there was some tools needed besides Nexus Mod Manager. Like Loot etc. Are these still needed or can you do these stuff with Nexus Mod Manager now? Some other tools that are recommended?
  10. All all these also necessary for Skryim SE?
  11. Flora Overhaul is very nice, but the trunks looks really awful and low res. Trees HD is a compliment to Flora Overhaul that makes the trunks looks sooo incredible nice. I remember in Oldrim I would always marvel at these trunks when close to them as they are some of the most beutiful objects in the world. The game just does not look nearly as good without them :( Could someone port it please? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3812/?
  12. Wow no wonder the distance looks so good. The distance terrain seems to have a ton of more detail and you can see things much earlier (I think that is what is called LOD?) I have both Skryim SE and Skryim on max settings on everything and this is what the environment looks like: Skryim: https://www.dropbox.com/s/q5z4ifigrq2w1f6/1%20Skryim%20Regular.jpg?dl=0 Skyrim SE: https://www.dropbox.com/s/egwlsso8ophhc9b/1%20Skyrim%20SE.jpg?dl=0 Skryim: https://www.dropbox.com/s/za1ibn6k7wh43j3/2%20Skyrim%20regular.jpg?dl=0 Skryim SE: https://www.dropbox.com/s/q3wnq0qrpvut9ed/2%20Skyrim%20SE.jpg?dl=0 You can actaully SEE things in the distance now. Is it even possible to improve it further with mods?
  13. One thing I never get tired of doing is experimenting with improving and tweaking is the graphics. I am always a little scared though of causing problems with mods so that things will crash etc. But are mods that does not affect gameplay really, like flora, texture and graphics generally safe to experiment more with, especially if you have some good structure in that you uninstall things properly etc? Also I have never understood fully how it works in practice when you install a texture mod. Say you install a texture mod that change the grass that have an .esp. Will there be both the vanilla texture in the Skryim folder and the flora texture mod, and if you uncheck the .esp will it use the regular vanilla textures instead? Also how does it work if you have 2 different profiles? If one profile is using the flore textures and the other is using vanilla does that mean that both textures exist at the same time in the folder?
  14. I have both installed and have no problem. Just coming back to your earlier questions - you'll find SE doesn't suffer from z-fighting, which can be very annoying in LE. So that's a great improvement. Also, you can approximate pretty closely the effect of an ENB in SE using different methods, although some screen archers might want to roast my eyeballs for suggesting that. Lastly, because SE doesn't suffer from the same memory limitations as LE you can potentially have many more actors inhabiting the same area in-game meaning that simulating events like large scale civil war battles is much more feasible. Carnage! This is actually something I really noticed when I booted up the SE edition. Somehow the distant mountains looks so great in SE and it could be that I am so used to z fighting in my modded Oldrim. So that is a huge +. I am just finding it hard to know what textures and graphics enhancement to install on SE to get it looking as good across the board as Oldrim. I would love if S.T.E.P was fully supported in SE but it seems there are a lot of things missing still. Though I guess things are ramping up now on the modding side for SE? Some mods I found for Oldrim also that is almost a must for me is the real first person where you can see your body and the camera is actually placed on your head for a much more realistic moment, it no longer feels like you are floating around on rails. Add another mod to this that lets you freely adjust your height of you character and you can play a huge barbarian character that actually is so tall that you tower over people and look down on them which is very cool (or look up if you are playing a tiny elf) I really hope some of these can be ported to SE. Also I loved to play the game with the Summer Skyrim mod that made everything look like summer with green grass etc instead of the bleak vanilla. It really made my game double as pretty, though the pictures in the mod and video look awful because of the enb the modder is using: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/22300/? Would it be possible for someone to port that over to Skyrim SE you think? Hmm that sounds wierd, is there any video of this? How is your overal experience with SE vs oldrim?
  15. Anecdotally, I think a lot of people are moving to SE. Some won't due to the amount of time they've invested into getting their LE game 'just right' in terms of the mods they're using. I think there will always be an active modding community for both but eventually SE will become the dominant one. You can use some LE mods in SE but usually you have to open the mod up in the (SE) Creation Kit and then save it before you install it. Some aren't that simple to port. You can port LE mods over to SE for your own personal by using the technique above for the simpler mods. Lastly, I recommend using STEP in order to get a solid, stable base game established before adding on your mods of preference - but it only covers LE at the moment. Hmm yes. I am actually leaning toward recreating my mod list for my main character and playing him in LE as I left off and then if i create any new characters I will do them on SE. I assume there is no problem with having both LE and SE installed on the same computer and in Nexus?
  16. I know that the last time I modded skyrim there was some tools needed besides Nexus Mod Manager. Like Loot etc. Are these still needed or can you do these stuff with Nexus Mod Manager now? Some other tools that are recommended?
  17. Hmm actually there is a backup function in Nexus, so maybe that would work? It is strange though, because if that is the case the Wiki is outdated?
  18. Thank you, is this anything you have tried out so you know if it works? About having a separate hard drive for the mods, is there a reason this would be preferable to just backing up the whole Nexus Mod Manager folder on another drive at some later point ((copy and paste it from my D drive to my external for example)? Is everything located inside this folder though? I have currently my Nexus Mod Manager folder on my D drive, but I have also a location that seems to be related to nexus at: C:\Users\*myuser*\AppData\Local\Skyrim and in there there is some files called plugins.txt, DLClist.txt and Steammodlist.txt for example that lists all my mods it seems, could that be the load order? Or was these the files you mention with "backup mmm settings and plugins text" ? One thing I don't understand is how I could uninstall and reinstall Skyrim and still get the mods if I just restore my Nexus folder? When I install mods they install stuff into my Skryim folder so that would not happen if I just paste back my Nexus folder on another drive? EDIT: seems this is what I am looking for? http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Backing_up_your_mod_list_and_load_order
  19. Ah thank you. Do you know if people are migrating over to SE? Do you think there will be a slow shift over to SE over time so that it might take over the modding scene from regular? Also, is it possible to use some mods from regular Skryim on SE? For example texture and mesh mods etc? There seems to be some compatibility between regular and SE? Fore example on the S.T.E.P site for the SE edition there are many mods that now have the status :"Currently not ported. Unknown if it works with SSE. No word from the author."
  20. Thank you! About "ENB for SSE isn't very well developed, and apparently it may not improve." why is this? Why is the ENB:s not as good for SSE as regular Skryim, and why is it possible they might not improve? I think ENB is the single most important thing to make Skryim look as good as it can do, and without it I doubt that SSE would ever look as good? Also is the SKSE out yet for SSE?
  21. I don't know how many times I have had to redo my modding from scratch because of a reinstall or because I created a new character that I wanted to use some other mods with. Is there any way to "save" your modsetup for a character in say Skyrim so that you can restore it later? What if when I was happy with a mod setup for a character I created a folder and backed up the whole Nexus Mod Manager folder, the Skryim folder in Steam, the Skryim folder in documents and the Skryim folder in Local/Skryim (it seems the loadorder is stored there?) If I then just made a clean uninstall and then install of Skryim and Nexus and copied back all these files again to their original place should that not restore everything as I had it?
  22. I want to get back into Skryim again but I have been thinking if I should play Skyrim or Skyrim SE. I have heard a lot of "hate" about SE and that nothing is really improved etc, but when I booted it up I really felt like there was a big improvement, it just felt more "responsive" and smooth in everything, and I could swear that the distance terrain and mountains looked even better in SE than in a modded Skryim (with a lot less flicker) like with more clouds around the mountains and easier to spot things in the distance etc. Not sure if I am imagining things though? I will mod SE though also to get it looking even better, espcially with textures. Any thoughts on this? A bit worried though with some things like Creation Kit, will every update that is released for the Creation Kit break SKSE? Also do mods in Skryim SE disable achievements like in Fallout 4? Also I remeber last time I looked into Skryim SE there was not much options for ENB:s. Has that improved since then? Lastly if one wants to get as good graphics as possible, is the STEP guide the way to go, or are there other sources?
  23. Hmm sounds very complicated :/ I wish it was easier to do in the future. One problem is that you might use a set of mods for a character and then if you want to go back to that characters years later on another computer it is very hard to know exactly what mods you need to install to have the same setup and not get any inconsistencies and errors :/
  24. Say that I mod a game (my next game I will mod will probably be Morrowind) and I have everything set up nicely exactly as I want it. But then I need to reinstall my computer or perhaps I buy a new computer, but I want to have all my modding and games exactly as I left them. How can I achieve this? Is there some Nexus folders and libraries I can copy and then paste in in the new computer without having to go through the whole process of fixing all my mods again? (which often takes a week or so for me) I actually had Morrowind on Steam and I save my whole Steam morrowind folder the last time, but after I pasted that in, the game won't even start so that did not work well..
