  1. In my case, it's typos and grammar errors in the text. I grit my teeth with American spelling as it's a US game, but some of the stuff uploaded in some mods REALLY needed to be run past a native English speaker before the upload - Google translate doesn't cut it.

As for voice acting - re-record the dialogue yourself and upload a replacement voice pack - I'm sure that way the original mod would get more downloads...

I actually hadn't thought of that.

That....I think I might just do that.

And even if I don't ever get around to uploading it, at least I can enjoy it all to myself. Muahahahaha.

  2. I've passed up so many mods because of their voice acting that, in all honesty, I wish that someone could've picked me up way back when so that I could work on it with them.

Even if I weren't voice acting myself, I do own an at-home music studio (AKA: The PC in my room ;) and could've easily brought some of the audio recordings to life with just a few simple audio effects.

No amount of effects will make up for poor voice acting, but it will sure liven it up a little.

And in the event that the voice acting is good, the effects make it even better!

    It's win/win.

  3. You know, one of those mods that gets all the rave and hype, but you're still just not feeling it because of [insert reason(s)]

For me, it's always voice acting.

The Blood and Mud mod did okay with this, because they had super-thick accents.

But I was going to download the Sentient Weapons mod for Oblivion, and everything looked awesome.

But I saw a gameplay video and the voice acting killed it.

No hate on the actor himself, or even the modder (if they aren't the same person).

I'm sure they did their best. And a lot of people seem to like it, so I can't bash them for it.

I just -personally- did not at all care for it.

Had that been "up to my standards," I would've downloaded it.

  4. Recently downloaded Samuel Vime's Feint Death Mod.

It's the one where you press B and you auto ragdoll.

I fall down just fine, but when I try to get back up, Oblivion crashes.

    Before you ask:

No, I'm not holding any of the WASD keys down when I press B.

In fact, I made sure to test it (on several occasions) and stand completely still before pressing B.

Yes, I have OBSE updated to the latest version.

    Yes, I have Shivering Isles.

Yes, I have the book in my inventory when I press B.

No, I did not sleep with her.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  5. #1138: Waiting in one place for hours at a time is seen as perfectly normal behavior.

#1139: When one of them sees you, all of them see you.

#1140: No one has anything interesting to say. Ever.

#1141: The citizens of Tamriel are all telepathic, and know precisely what items you in your pack have been stolen from someone else.

  6. When I try to talk to the count of Skingrad (after I've been granted audience, of course), the game won't let me talk to him about it.

There aren't any related dialogue topics, and I can't progress the quest at all.

Is there a setstage console command for me to finish it?

And if there are any items that he's supposed to give me, can I just add them to my inventory with another console command?

EDIT: Not sure how or why it worked, or why I thought it would, but I waited another two days before talking to him, and it worked.

  7. So, I did a quick search of "double face fast travel."

As I failed to mention, I'm only getting this issue when I fast travel with someone following me.

It led me to this forum post, with a link to a fix that utilizes OBSE.

If anyone has this problem in the future, specifically where fast traveling causes your follower(s) to screw up, try using this fix.

Please note that Oblivion Script Extender (version 19 or later) is required for this mod to work.

  8. is it something that has a black circle around the eyes of every npcs?

If it is, go to ur oblivion.ini in ur documents/mygames/oblivion folder and turn off 'bActorSelfShadowing=1'

If it isnt, tell us ur load order.

I've noticed black circles around the eyes on some NPCs, but not very many.

Not enough for me to complain about it.

UOP. Probably a wyre bashed patch rebuild problem. BOSS log files should be followed to the letter unless you have a clue.

I haven't noticed anything about the BOSS logs aside from a few mods containing "dirty edits."

I'm not sure what that is.

  9. I have a spell that's supposed to fix it, but it doesn't work at all.

Is there another way to fix it?

I hate when forums won't let me edit the thread title.

    Stupid typos.

UPDATE: I failed to mention that I only get this problem when I fast travel.

That was bad on my part.

The problem is fixed now, though.

See my last post on how it was accomplished.

  10. I just started a new game with my mods installed, and when I go into the first Oblivion gate at Kvatch, the sky is blue.

It really doesn't look half as bad as you'd think, but the simple fact that I know that it's not supposed to be like that ruins the immersion.

I'm not exactly sure what could have caused this, but QTP3 comes to mind, since it overhauls/replaces textures.

  11. Okay, I fixed the black eyes. Had to google (specifically) Cobl black eyes.

For anyone else in the future who runs into a similar problem, try downloading the "Cobl Cosmetics" file from this link.

It's required if. like me, you are using the Cobl Races.esp

When I first downloaded Cobl, I think at PES, I didn't see that file anywhere.

TESNexus seems to be more up to date.

  12. The only mod I have currently installed (that could have caused this) is Cobl.

Before that, I only had the FCOM components installed, and working.

I'm also using QTP3 Redemized, but to my knowledge, that only replaces world textures, and not character textures.

Don't quote me on this, as I'm not even entirely sure about that, which is why I mentioned it; It's the only other texture replacer I'm using.

I tried running the archive invalidation on OBMM. That didn't seem to do anything.

I used BOSS to update the load order. That too, did nothing.

Only a very small number of NPCs seem to be "infected" with the black eyes virus, but I'd still much rather play the game/mods as they were intended. ;)

    Thanks in advance.

ALSO: I noticed in the bloodworks that the dark elf NPC that practices on the punching bag has redish eyes, but that could be normal. I'm not sure.

  13. I'm not sure if this counts as thread hijacking, because the problem was already solved.

And it's certainly not thread necromancy, as these are recent posts.

But I'm having the exact same problem with that exact same message in my error log.

Can I get a link to Boss 1.7 so I can try the method that worked for OP?

Because I can't find it anywhere. Only see 1.8

EDIT: Nevermind. Took a lot of digging, but I eventually found it on my own.
