  1. I recently began using the current version of Vortex. I last used Vortex 2 years ago (?), and some things changed. Not knowing what kind of things led me astray. When I began downloading mods, they never appeared in any list on Vortex. That must be something new, I thought. So I kept trying to download them again ... and again. It kept asking me if I wanted to download them again ... "well I guess so" I kept thinking to myself. After some further experimentation, I find that a filter had somehow been set, and nothing matched it, so nothing was showing up as having been downloaded. Now that I got that figured out, I found the directory Vortex stored the mods in and deleted the extras. Now...to install them. On every one I tried, it wanted me to decide which of the nearly identical files to install. Didn't I just delete the extras? So then, how can I delete these extra mods/files from Vortex without messing things up any worse?

  3. After trying everything I could imagine to do to get Vortex to work, the log jam broke loose. I don't know which of the things I tried that fixed the problem, but it is working now.
  4. Texture replacers used to (or still) overwrite the target files in the game data directories. If you wanted to undo the operation, you were stuck weeding them out my by hand or restoring from a saved version. When Vortex copies texture files, does it make a backup of the (to be) overwritten files before overwriting, enabling you to undo the operation?
  5. While attempting to download some mods, I ran up against some signicant problems. While adding a large number of Skyrim mods from Nexus, two mods got stuck in the que. I didn't notice this at first, because it was saying that things were still downloading, and other than the elapsed time, was not indicating otherwise. But it eventually came to my attention that something had gone wrong when I realized that the two mods had been stuck at 17 and 20% for the last two hours. I looked them up in the mods downloads pane and deleted them. The next couple of mods came up and began downloading with success, but eventually two other mods froze in the que. But deleting them did not help. Now Vortex is unable to download anything else. I tried closing Vortex and restarting it. Now I'm in really deep s**t because all the mods not downloaded are listed as "Failed" and the only option left is to delete them. As a last resort, I reinstalled Vortex. No joy. Who can help me with this?
  6. Here's my two cents! But what is the gleam widget?
  7. And that thread is someone trying to reinstall everything after reinstalling Windows, which has NOTHING to do with what you're doing. I'm starting to feel trolled. Not trolling. But I am having multiple technical issues with Nexus Mods, Vortex, this forum, and probably even my computer. When my migraine goes away, and I can think clearly again, I'll be back to try this again.

  10. There must be something desperately wrong with my installation of Vortex. I'll come back after I have reinstalled it. Edit: Never mind, after seeing this post I'm not sure I want to try that yet: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/7234901-restoring-vortex-after-windows-reinstall/
  11. Nowhere do I see a column saying Load Order. Be very specific how I should get there.
  12. I get several mods saying that they have conflicting files. I'm given the options to provide no rule, load before, load after, and file conflicts, for each of the files that conflict. Which file(s) is each item being compared to? I have tried every which way and it tells me I have circular arguments or the icon conitinues to show red. I have only succeeded in making the problem worse than better by trying to remedy them.
  13. Where in Vortex do I find a list of the mods in the order that they will be loaded?
