No, the textures needed a few fixes, and the HD texture work I'm seeing is just wonderful. It would've happened even with the CS. You're not seeing other types of mods, though, because the CS isn't out, I'd agree with you there.

I don't hate the players. I've never met them. But I can't stand how consoles ruin great PC games. Skyrim is another example. Selling it's soul. It's the user interface. It's terrible. Witcher 2 was ruined by consoles, too. Dragon Age 2, same deal. It's a second-rate way of playing a role-playing game. That's why people hate consoles. They destroy great games. You want a great role-playing game, the way a role-playing game should be played, go play Lord of the Rings online. It would be impossible to make that game for the console. Unless of course you handicapped it, completely overhauled it, and blasted it with a cloak of simplicity. Age of Conan is better than this. Neverwinter Nights is better than this. Hell, I'd rather play Drakensang than Skyrim Consolized. Okay, maybe that's going a bit to far. Forget Drakensang. What really pisses me off is when developers say they are catering to the PC croud, when it's blatantly obvious they aren't. Just look at the interface for Christ sake. Another unshockingly poor console template. *^#! damn console players.... :wallbash: rofl ;) Blame the developers and publishers for the UI, they were the ones who didn't think the PC was worth making a proper UI for. Consoles don't make games and neither do console gamers, we should stop blaming them start blaming the people responsible. As for dumbing down, it's happening on the PC too, we made a big deal of 350,000 people playing Skyrim at the same time yet Farmville has an average of 11 million playing at any one time, when it comes to dumbed down crap the PC has more than its fair share. There are two problems simultaneously at work here, though: 1) The devs aren't here, so there's really no way to "complain" to them. 2) The people who entirely reasonably want to claim their platform is the best. We all want our team to win, of course, the problem is that PC players are a bit sore with the platform. Sorta like "the friend of my enemy is my enemy," if you will.

Actually, no. It's proving how racist the SYSTEM is. I'm not racist if I say that black people IRL make less money than white people in the same job and acting based on that knowledge. Because I'm just reacting rationally to a racist system. You might argue it's heartless of me, or cruel, because I'm not doing anything to FIX it, but it's not actually racist, just logical. It's worth noting, there is exactly one person in the city who is actively racist against the Dunmer. You can argue that he's allegorically representing multiple people, but then why don't we see anyone blaming Balgruuf for the Talos crier? Couldn't he ALSO be representing multiple people? Yet, the Empire doesn't move against Whiterun.

You don't have to do the quests they give you. Just pretend it isn't there. What's the problem?

What video card for Skyrim (and my PC specs)
Linsolv replied to Deleted3209129User's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Radeon HD 6850 is currently running it for me at 1600x1200 on... I want to say the highest settings. Only $120. (smooth as butter, I should add) -
Also, Ulfric is an easy guy to understand. For me, it's a better comparison to ask if a character with honest motivations (not "get money have sex," which is essentially vice-as-character) would take a path. And in that case, yeah. Someone might honestly believe in religious freedom, hate the Thalmor, and want to fight back. Hint: Empire ain't doing it. Fallout 3 was the biggest offender to me. First time you get to choose to be evil, and it's... blowing up a town. For what? FOR SOME GOLD. Talk about putting the moral event horizon right at the beginning. From there, you never get a chance to be anything but pure good or pure evil. Not in a storyline sense, anyways. New Vegas seemed like it was more balanced, but it wasn't. There were 2 good options and 2 evil options. I honestly as a person had a decent amount of respect for Caesar's Legion, but they were early on established as going WAAAAY too far so anyone who agreed with the idea of punishing the corrupt was immediately marginalized and made to be evil to agree.

WELL... yes and no. I meant that they aren't trying to integrate with and join society. They're trying to dominate society. There are plenty of examples and I picked one.

You are a little off - the pre-release pirate was on the 360, and nearly a week before official launch. No, there was a version of Skyrim available on Thursday if you looked for it. @Tarvidex - Garbage store. I don't know why you think it's better than Steam. It had, what, 3-4 dozen titles? I couldn't find a single game I was looking for on there. Only game I can't find on Steam that I've wanted in the past few months was BF3, and that was a big hullabaloo. Advertisements are advertisements, stores are stores. If I open Steam's chat client, is there a little banner ad? Because there is one for AIM. If I open Steam's library, is there a banner anywhere? I can use it to buy games, which is convenient, and I can use it to buy almost every game I want.

I disagree. Ulfric isn't really all that racist. I don't see it. He wants Skyrim to be run by... well, honestly, by himself. Windhelm is racist, sure, but not as bad as all that compared to historical racism in the Americas. It's not like the Irish or something, where the Thalmor are trying to join society but because of racism they can't; the Thalmor are more like Americans in Iraq. Invading, and sure there's people there, but only because they want to invade. I feel like Niranye's response to the racism question is more telling: they don't initially trust elves, sure. But if you make an effort, they're not bad people. The reason that the dark elves are hated is because they are too prideful to make nice.

I am of two minds on this subject. On the one hand, I am kinda mad that it's two months or more. It was supposed to be released with the game, but apparently minor delays put it off a couple weeks. This was a selling point of the game. You don't have to pay for it any more than you have to pay for the ability to do the Thieves Guild quest chain, but the idea that you will have things to do as a thief is a selling point of the game. It's not going to throw me off of Bethesda, I'm not going to stop buying. I'm just going to register my complaint and move on. On the other hand, I do feel like a lot of people on BOTH sides of this argument care a bit too much. It's just a game, guys. Keep it cool. Getting mad because it's not as good as it could be is understandable, but don't take it too far.

Not a troll, but link is broken.

Does modding benefit the gamer or the developer?
Linsolv replied to OnlyOneWing's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Many, if not most, professional game developers get their start modding games. -
I would just use it as a nearly-pure weight-vs-mobility comparison, except that some blacksmiths would be better than others (hence why Eorlund is better; not cause he's using Skyforge which somehow makes him better, but because his steel is legendary for its quality).
-
I found it especially funny that "Eorlund Grey-Mane is the best blacksmith in Whiterun" but the stuff that Adrianne Avenicci sells is exactly the same.
-
I like SOME elves more than others. Two examples that stick out in my mind as contrasting: I really like Niranye, the high-elf in Windhelm ("Thank you for your custom," she says coolly. But I know. We both know). I was disappointed that she was not marriageable (and I really just don't want to do it with the console). On the other hand, Elenwen, the woman who runs the party at the Thalmor embassy, is creepy.

I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed in how... one-sided marriage
Linsolv replied to Naikado2's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I married Ysolda and it bothered me that what was previously a woman with ambition became this weird Stepford wife whose only wish was to stay at home and call me "my love." -
You can get them as rewards for the Daedric quests, but I don't think you can get them without smithing any other way... maybe with the Lockpicking perk to get better gear.
-
Who says it's a curse? One guy. Most of the companions talk about how much they love being a werewolf.
-
I play a female character because my first character ended up not going where I wanted him to, and I wanted a change of pace before I tried the concept again. Change of pace, in that case, meant "female Khajiit"

It's odd that this thread is the place where forums finally decide that opinions do not count as a valid argument. To an extent I tend to agree that "Fuuuus... rodah!" is less cool than "Fus! Roh! Dah!" I see why they did it that way but if I had my choice, I wouldn't have chosen the way it is now.
-
Yes. I don't mean to sound rude, but of course you can. You're limited only by what you, yourself, can create. You could make a cthulhu mod if you could conceive of an idea for what he'd look like.
-
I agree. Completely agree. Magic should be stronger, by a lot, but first you have to take away the ability for even pure warriors to use it without needing to learn anything.
-
Are you wearing all the armor? That is weird. I didn't have that problem when I went on the quest.
-
I agree on the no hp or mana being a bit extreme. I have been playing with no compass, crosshair and fast travel for a while now and it has opened up the game a lot. Now whenever I'm near my home with my wife, and it's getting late, I walk/run all the way there and sleep until 5-6 am so that I have the benefit of the 8 hour buff. And since I don't use fast travel, I get to experience that buff for the whole 8 hours! Actually using inns as oppose to fast travelling home is kind of fun too. If you think you are getting bored already, I advise you try to commit to this play style for a bit. You might find it quite fun and compelling. How do you disable compass?

ESPECIALLY after the update, from what I'm told. Lucky thing I came on here first. ;p
