I have confirmed the issue: it is due to not having enough MEC suits available. Bug is listed here too: http://ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=Bugs_(Long_War)

I'm playing the long war beta 13. Normal missions work fine, but during the 2nd turn of the base defence, I cannot control any of my soldiers. I can still operate some blue buttons with the mouse (so I can operate the camera and select different soldiers), but my soldiers cannot move or fire. Could anyone please help?
