  1. So it's not likely that in the process of creating your mod, you touched the CharGen script. Soooooo.... we're in the dark again

As I said, maybe Striker's idea is better now. You'll keep your saves. I'm running out of ideas... :/

I guess... I've stopped counting how many times I've been forced to reinstall this game.

  2. If Pk's suggestion doesn't fix things all I can suggest is to start out with a completely vanilla re-install and install one mod at a time and test thoroughly in between.

When you add one mod to a working game and then it breaks knowing where to start troubleshooting becomes a trivial task.

I'm in Oblivion\Data\menus right now. There is no CharGen.

    Theres:

    • main
    • prefabs
    • levelup_menu_DarkUIdDarN.xml
    • levelup_menu_DarN.xml
    • levelup_menu_Vanilla.xml
  3. So strange. Try deleting the Oblivion.ini in /*YourUserName*/Documents/MyGames/Oblivion.

I recently had a problem I couldn't solve and it was an ini issue. If you delete it, Oblivion will create a new one at the moment you execute it again, so if it is the .ini it'll be solved then. Of course, the new .ini will have the default oblivion configuration; if you had mods that requested you to tweak the Oblivion.ini file, you'll have to do it again. As I said, it happened to me recently with another problem and it worked. The .ini file tends to mess up when you use several mods, I don't know why.

    Deleting the INI didn't help.

  4. Well, since I can't identify an issue in your load order, I'll go for the primitive solution here. Set all your mods to inactive, and try starting a new game. If it works, it's a mod problem.

Then, if it is a mod problem, to identify the mod that's causing it, activate one mod and try if it works; if it does, activate another mod, and try. And so on until you find which activation is the one that sets the problem on.

You can do it in set of threes, since your mod list is long. Activate three mods and try; if it works, do it again and so on. When it doesn't, you'll know is one of the three last mods you activated the one causing the problem.

I know, I know, it is pretty basic, but it should work; and if it seems that it takes too much time, it probably is faster than expecting a solution from someone here on Nexus Forums. So, with that taken in consideration, I'd say this is the best move.

Nope. Even with the mods off it crashes.

    (Verifying game cache doesn't help)

  5. I tried posting this elsewhere and didn't get any help. It keeps asking me to set the virtual directory to the same HD I put the mods on. I did. It refuses to work and is telling me to set it to a HD that doesn't exist.

  6. So I got the Live Another Life Alternate Start mod and chose the option: I own property in one of the holds, Proudspire Manor (Solitude).

Well, whenever I try to leave my Manor the game CTDs during the loading screen. Even TES5Edit isn't sensing a problem.

    LOOT also isn't helping.

  7. Considering how important mods are to Bethesda now, I'm surprised they didn't just extend SE's scripts themselves.

I mean they must have noticed how many extremely popular mods rely on script extenders.

  8. 3/15

Yeah I'd call this mid-March. Assuming their ETA was accurate it should be nearly done by now.

I haven't played SE at all since I've been waiting for this. I see no reason to start installing mods

when the best ones depend on a script extender.

    I'm checking the website frequently.

  9. I attempted making a compatibility patch for these mods but my lack of experience prevented me from making progress.

I hope somebody wouldn't mind doing it for me since it should be a simple operation.

Basically there's a door in the house inspired by the film Howl's Moving Castle. Just like the movie you turn the knob and the door goes to a specific city.

With OCR installed the door is rendered useless as it just sends you to an empty room as the towns are in the world space.

The only thing that needs to be done is change the locations the door sends you to so that it puts you in the city.

For reference the door drops you off in front of the Mage's Guild in all of the cities.

  10. There was a mod that added quite a few perks.

I'm looking for it for one perk in particular. It was one of those starting

perks that you choose during your psych eval with Doc Mitchell in the game's start.

The ones that have pros and cons, you pick two of them?

Well I remember one that was represented by that grim reaper icon used for the vanilla perk "Reaper's Sprint". (I think that's what that perk is called)

It let you have one perk per level instead of every other level but it gave your DT a huge debuff.

I know there's a mod that gives you a perk per level with no strings attached but I kinda like the challenge of having terrible DT.

Even on Very Hard the game isn't very difficult.
