great idea, i love it

i brought this up months ago but it got no intrest from modders, the only suggestion was to use the carry feature to drag them out of site behind a building or something. i think at some point this will be addressed because im with you on the bodies need to go after a day or two, i hate returning weeks later ans see the same bodies sitting there
-
well tell that to thepeople of nipton lol granted i think the way the legion is portrayed is very reasonable to being realistic in that environment but they are ruthless SOBs wether you call them the evil word or not
-
yep most things always come down to your karma level when it comes to companions, they are like kids who get their feelings hurt all the time
-
i didnt even know there WAS a limit but i think my mod folder is bigger then the game folder lol

How New Vegas could've been.
webster63 replied to DonCorleone's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
isnt that pretty much the way most games go, give it time and the patches will help make you forget the flaws -

Why is this game so glitchy?
webster63 replied to animecollectorx's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
also no glitches for me -
@ hector530 - i dont mind steam, it isnt that i think its bad or evil, my only real issue with them is the forced content and cookies/spyware that you MUST agree to accept in order to use it and along with that some game FORCE you to use steam or you cant have the game and i dont like being forced to use a third party just to play a game. Lt Albrecht this describes you perfectly, have a nice day oh and dont forget to allow all those cookies

oh, right they just use majic to know exactly where you've been and what sights you visit and somehow just happen to coincidentally advertise the exact things you've been looking at. continue to live in your bubble and believe nobody is watching you, the goverment is your friend and politicians never lie to you and just FYI antivirus programs do NOT identify and prevent spyware, they are for virus protection, antispyware programs do but NOT if you have any programs that are "allowed" to do there own thing such as steam which wether you know it or not in order to use you must give it permission to overide certain protections and settings to do what they do in the background so as to go undetected and spyware isnt any good at doing its job if it is easy to detect. yes steam is no more harmfull then the nosey busybody neighbor next door but i can close the curtains when the nosey neighbor is looking in my windows, with steam you cant
-
plus the unadvertised special bonus of steam recording all your activites with spyware that reports on you while it connects to steam but its ok to trust them right? they only use this info to target advertising just for you and they would never sell your info to other advertisers, never lol.

i can only reply to that by saying, many issues are user error but most user errors are cased by the BS Steam makes you go through or the spyware it uses in its efforts at being intrusive in everything you do. IMO the core problem is with the people who are putting up with steams BS so as long as they continue to profit we are stuck with the way they are doing things. IMO 80% of the people who think steam is great dont pay for their own internet connection or rent so their perspective on the value of money is not the same as those who do. people claimed online DRM and phone home software is something you HAVE TO accept but when users of ubisofts games finally had enough and refused to buy the games with perminent connections required anymore and sales suddenly dropped by 45% the company decided to say never mind and patched the games to go back to playing offline and not needing perminent connections. it boils down to, if you put up with it they only get worse over time and steam is a perfect example of mindless drone customers saying ok to any and all intrusive things steam does. steam will never improve untill there is a customer revolt such as the case with ubisoft was so until that happens just bend over and hope it doesnt hurt too much the original poster had it right in his first post, im just sorry he felt the need to change his mind after figuring out how to get it working. if steam wasnt such a PITA in the first place he wouldnt have had to post at all

did you mention this in the community bug fix mod? if not then you should
-
love the idea, hope somebody makes a mod for this. maybe it could give you some xp and some other related boost in addition to karma since IMO the way karma works it means little to nothing with this game

fair enough but i would say ASKING for donations is fine if you want to but anyone who needs to be ASKING for money if you use their mods needs to get a job. ( also not meant to be offensive but just a reality check) you are soo wrong and you arent talking to and havent met the right people, true modders are helpfull and WILL go out of their way to help others do mods they care nothing for and would never do themselves. it is evidenced on the forums in many places where mods are made just for someone they dont even know. often i see requests be answered and some modders even add things to their mods because others want them and it wasnt for themselves that they did it. are there selfish people who only care about themselves and think modding could be a way to get self recognition and maybe even make a little money from donations as a bonus, yes there are but IMO the selfish ones are the minority and most modders are not the me me me its all about me people. yes we can all agree on this if they allowed the selling of modded files they would be party to reselling copywrited files for profit and face stiff fines after the site wqas shut down in closing, we definately dont have the same opinion of modders and what modding is all about
-
sadly because of the things you listed is IMO the reason they didnt do deathclaw companion for the game but it could be an interesting mod challenge

Can anyone make a Maria reskin similar to these ?
webster63 replied to Falshire's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
the detail of the engraved designs would never show up, they just would be too small but the gold version is right up there with a look and style gun the benny charactor would be carrying and IMO completely lore friendly as to the colt vs browning thing im not sure if that matters as i dont recall it being mentioned in the storyline anywhere as anything specific -
validator invalidated is not a regular mod you install on its own, its a modded file plus it requires you open a game file and change it with windows notepad that allows the game to accept and look for files other then those built into the game. the edit is critical to get correct since it tells the game which order to look for and use the files find it here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35935
-
the problem with the game is it still wants to use the stock images even when mods are added so you must use the file validator invalidator to have the modded images used whenevr something isnt working correctly with the invalidator the game will still let the clothes be removed but it doesnt replace the stock body image which has black covered panty area and funny looking boobs
-
yep, the blackpanties is the stock default image being used (you just dont get to see it under the underwear overlay) because the invalidator file wasnt reset to allow the new modded image to be used, its a common error many make and for some the invalidator must be done a few times to let it work right
-
well modding takes time and effort so i could see where one or two very very involved mods taking massive time to create and support would be an understandable excuse to request donations BUTT IMO modding is at its very core done just for a hobby to improve games for personal taste and freely shared for others with only compliments and or thanks as your reward everything involved in modding games is using copywrited files belonging to the game companies and wanting to make money from improving the game someone else owns and created might be justified in some peoples minds it is wrong i didnt want to get into copywrite issues of wether its using copywrited files belonging to the game companies for profit because thats a whole thread unto itself
-
you mean cleared up high resolution textures but not altered colors and stuff? i dont recall seeing anything but i wish i had something like that too

Remove Companion Names From The Map
webster63 replied to TiredTurmoil's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
im sure its a 2 for 1 effect, to get rid of the names you get rid of the map markers and vise versa so look at disabling companion map markers but when you lose track of where you left a companion you will need the console to bring them to you along with the related side effects of that.
