  1. Simple question from a newbie modder - I see all these resource files here on Nexus - are they all set for the GECK or does it vary from resource to resource? Thanks in advance fellow gamers n modders!
  2. I love the style of the armor, but I HATE the trenchcoat that comes with it. Is there any way to make a version of the armor without the trenchcoat AND be faction free? Preferrably, I'd like to have this done with the Deser Ranger Combat Armor from Honest Hearts, but it's up to you. Maybe make a new unique variant and call it LAPD Riot Armor? According to The Vault(fallout.wikia.com) that's what the armor was originally prior to the Great War. Many thanks in advance.
  3. Using a game that isn't even released yet as an example is STUPID(please note that I'm referring to the use Skyrim as an example being stupid, NOT hadoumastery). In addition, dual wield in Fallout, at least in my opinion, wouldn't feel right. In every canon Fallout title, the PC has NOT been some kind of super soldier, trained in pre-war techniques. Can dual wield be learned with a reasonable level of competence in time? Of course. But to use Fallout NV's arms in an example, most players with such a mod would lock n load a pair of 9/10/12.7mm SMGs, which would wreck the game's balance. Deathclaws? Bloody chunks. Caser's Legion Assassins? WHAT assassins? Hell, the entire NCR Armed Forces in the Mojave? Splattered Rangers, blitzed troopers and obliterated officers. Bottom line - despite my above comments, I'd love to see such a mod be made and work properly. But realistically, I'm too much of a Fallout vet to fully enjoy it, not to mention the fact that the Gamebryo engine(as it was when FO3 was released) is not set up to take full advantage of such a mod. That might have changed by now, with possible updates and modifications to the engine for New Vegas, but it's more likely that if dual wield is going to be Skyrim, then we'll have to wait for the next Fallout title to experience a proper dual wield.
  4. I'll keep it simple - over on the FO3 Nexus there are a handful of goth style face styles for various NPCs. I love the look of a few of them, but specifically the GGG Bittercup mod. I'd love to have a face preset or race that allows me to resemble her. Basically, what I'm looking for is a face preset that gives pale skin, dark eyeshadow, black lips, etc. Just no tats or piercings - not all goths are tatted, pierced, etc. Much thanks in advance.
  5. What you're asking for is damn near a total conversion in the form of a mod. Can it be done? Definetly. Will it be done? Well, the project you proposed is a *****, pure and simple. And as one ofthe others said, it is already being worked on. However, the size and scope of it means it will not be a short timeframe for it to be completed - truth, such massive projects tend to wind up fading away into memory. I'd love to see this project completed and made avaliable, probably more than 90% of the people here on Nexus. But to be honest, unless the team in question is extremely dedicated, it's unlikely to be fully completed. What is more likely is locations will be made, if they already haven't.
  6. most likely they are modified versions of anime-based outfits, though I could be wrong.....
  7. rickrhk, thanks - I don't dabble with the drugs or booze in the game, so I didn't know. Thanks for the explaination. If I understand you right, if you know the base id of all of the object effects(like Turbo's effect, for example) you could give them to your character on a permanent(or at least a regular) basis without actually ingesting the required item, am I right? Of course, i's common sense that using too many of them at once may cause, ah, undesirable effects LOL :P deno, thank you for the clarification. deu58, thanks for the initial help.
  8. I haven't played it yet, but I highly doubt that it is in any way anti-Mormon. From what I've been told on message boards, the Mormons are more or less just mentioned.
  9. What the heck is the perk Steady Chem? What's it supposed to do? I tried it and it didn't seem to change anything, nor was anything listed.....
  10. I'm making some guns as a favor to a friend(just simple tweaks and small texture changes) for a friend, but he also asked if I could zero the weapons so that every time he shoots, the bullet goes right where he wants it to ala Lincoln's Repeater of FO3. What fields have to be changed and what do they have to be changed to? Much thanks in advance.
  11. You guys all have a good point - it isn't Bethesda as much as it is the various modders. Granted, as a guy I find more enjoyment in looking at the female form, and als to each their own when it comes to using and/or making mods. I just find it questionable how both FO3 and NV(and Oblivion to a much lesser extent, though it should be mentioned) have become playgrounds for half nude virtual barbies. I do, however, have to give credit to many of the mod authors for their level of detail. When you boil it down, all you have to do is turn from your modded version of Fallout NV and go outside, and depending on were you live you'll see the same things, if not less clothed...only the "virtual barbies" are real :P At least we can be mature adults and discuss this, unlike on other message boards which shall remain un named.
  12. ^ What he said. I agree - most of the armors are designed to be either unisex or flat out female only. I usually play female chaacters, so on that hand I'm not complaining(I'm 30 and don't "get a grip" looking at virtual barbies :P ) However, when I do my male characters, the most badass armors have been either PA or Combat Armor. It sucks that those two are like the only ones that are worth playing a male as. Let's face it - Bethesda has taken Fallout and made it into "how slutty can we make female PCs look?"
  13. That's possible, I guess. though the "endgame" would have to be moved a bit.... Thanks Moraelin - as always, a big help!
  14. I'm making a sort of freeform quest type mod with the reward being a set of armor. I'd like to be able to have the player, upon reaching the end of the trail(so to speak) come across a skeleton wearing the armor. I know it's possible to do, as near the end of Dead Money we find Vera Key's skeleton wearing Vera's Outfit. I know the "skeleton" is in the GECK, and I have some basic experience using the GECK. How exactly do I go about placing a set of armor on a skeleton? Much thanks in advance.
  15. Never mind on this request - one of the guys I work with on my ship made his own version and gave me a copy of it. This request topic can be closed at any time.
  16. Over on the FO3 Nexus, there is a mod that retextures Combat Armor to resemble a firefighter's "armor"(which I can see in a futuristic setting such as the pre-war FO world). What I was hoping was someone could make a similiar mod, only instead of making the colors red and yellow, make them black and yellow(like some types of turnout gear) and have "Searchlight" or "SFD" on the back and place it in the Searchlight Fire Station. I know there is black combat armor found within the GECK(Van Graff Combat Armor and Black Combat Armor are 2 that I was told about). I don't need any changed stats or scripts - just a retex of plain old combat armor as requested above. Many thanks to anyone who does this.
  17. Agreed on Haunted House - and like you and the OP, I too started with an Atari 2600 - and mine still works!
  18. I know exactly what you guys mean, though I have to admit(and somewhat defend) the "graphic-whores of gaming" when I say to each their own. I've been gaming since the days of the Atari 2600, so "old timers" like me should have the right to pass judgement on such things, not these little 15 year olds that are torn between sneaking away with their girlfriend for a romp in the backseat of mom and dad's car or playing Halo 1 Million(let's be honest - Microwhore won't let the Halo franchise die - and no I'm not really a fan of Halo after playing Halo 3, for personal reasons, let's leave it at that). Let me clarify - and with all due respect to gamers the world over, both veten and newbie - many of today's younger gamers are brainwashed by Call of Duty, Fallout, Oblivion, etc. by thinking that the best graphics makes a game superior or makes one version superior over another version. If, say, the PC version of a game let's you see your own reflection in a pool of blood and the PS3/360 versions don't, then the PC version is supposedly superior for having better graphics. Yet such claims are ignorantly made as that same "superior" version will have multiple crashes and freezes while the "inferior" versions run smoother with fewer(if any) crashes. Or, perhaps(in the case of call of duty) the combat is so realistic that you feel like you're actually there. Yes, I'll confess to having the same feeling when I played the latest CoD. BUT, having never been in real life combat, I refuse to even think of making that claim - I honestly don't know how "glamorized" or "graphiclly upgraded" the game is from reality. And that is the whole problem - a lot of younger gamers keep clamoring for more and more realism in games, and they fail to see the more realistic you make a game, the less real it actually is. Give me well balanced gameplay and a compelling storyline over graphics anyday. And to the younger gamers who keep bashing the older games - without the older games you wouldn't have your precious Call Of Dutys(or whatever you hold near and dear to your gaming hearts) today. In fact, one "ancient" game is responsable for saving the gaming industry - Super Mario Bros. Oh, and in response to the FPS debat going on - you got to give the award to the grand daddy of the FPS genre - the ORIGINAL FPS - Wolfenstein 3D(the PC version not the horrible console remakes).
  19. Agreed - since Oblivion already has a simple magic system, it would be easier to modify the game to reflect the more magic = less tech, etc." stuff. And there are already a bunch of gun mods out for Oblivion, so about 1/4th of the wok is already done.
  20. There are a few clothing mods I have for FO3 that I'd love to have in NV(Backsteppo's PE Dress for example). As Backsteppo hasn't responded to my message and I'm not going to ask someone to port and post it(as it would be aganist the rules without Backsteppo's permission) I'd like to port it myself, for my own personal use. How exactly would I go about porting it, along with other items(what tools would I need, etc.)? Any and all help is greatly appreicated.
  21. Last night while fooling around with the GECK I had found the selection that allowed me to make new ammo recipes, but stupid me didn't write it down for future refrence. Could someone please remind me where it was? 1000 Thanks in advance.
  22. You couldalso use the console to play as a kid: press the ~ key, then type: player.agerace -1 Makes the PC a child (player.agerace 1 returns them to adult) showbarbermenu - adjust the hairstyle showracemenu - adjust the facial features, plus do the hair If you dont want to load a mod, this is your only other alternative.
