Okay, so I recently began playing Skyrim again, and now I seem to be having a bit of a strange issue involving fire. Anything that shows open flames larger than say, a candle (i.e. torches, your hands when a fire spell is equipped, braziers, bonfires, etc) will cause my screen to flash yellow at a very rapid pace, and the actual animation is surrounded by a crystal shaped, see through, reddish thing. About 99% of the time it only happens in first person view, though on occasion it will occur regardless of what viewpoint I'm in. I don't know why it's begun doing this, as I haven't changed anything. I'm guessing it's happening due to the recent patch, but I don't know how to confirm my suspicions. Any suggestions?

So seriously, I've noticed that there are a lot of great-sword type weapon mods on here, so I think the dabilahro from ninja gaiden would fit in perfectly! http://images.wikia.com/ninjagaiden/images/4/4e/Dabilahro_Lv3.jpg

Alright, so I've noticed a few threads where people want to be able to play dragons or turn into dragons, and have seen mostly that it'd be pretty much a huge pain in the ass to implement and keep things interesting. So, I got an idea. Oh and bear with me, because this idea is much more difficult to put into words than it is to picture in my brain. ANYWHO... Well all around the dovahkiin is like 50% dragon, 50% human/elf/argonian/khajiit, right? So why exactly would a dovahkiin just poof into a dragon? I mean that's not what they are, they're this awesome hybrid being. So why not take that to a whole new level? Add a third alternative species/power/thing to the game apart from vampires and werewolves. Add the dragon-kin! Essentially the dovahkiin would gain the ability to change forms (pretty much just like a werewolf) into this half dragon/humanoid (much more literally than just being a human with a dragon soul). It'd be the embodiment of the dragonborn's power, literally taking the best attributes from his human(or whatever) nature and his dragon nature and fusing them into a singular, superior being. Kinda like this guy: http://132.209.40.23/w4/campagne/images/WotC_Art_Galleries/Monsters_Faerun/Dragonkin.jpg A hulking beast, embodying the best of both worlds. Your character would transform into this guy, just like you would if you were a werewolf (actually I'd imagine a lot of stuff could be borrowed from the werewolf aspect of skyrim to make this beasty feel right). Now, being both dragon AND human/elf/whatever, you wouldn't simply be a big hulking monstrosity. You'd still have magic, you'd still be fully capable of interacting with your world the same way a human being would; all the flexibilty of being a humanoid. That being said, you wouldn't just be another fragile shmuck walking around; you'd have the flight of a dragon, the hide of a dragon, the power of a dragon. Okay, more specifically though, this is what I was thinking. -You get this dragon-kin form and esetially you just become a walking death machine. You get claws (since dragons have em), so you could run around and claw people just like a werewolf; that being said, you still have your hands so you can still utilize weapons and levers and stuff if that's what you'd rather do. -Your dragon shouts would become much more fluid to use; I was thinking either completely removing shout cool-downs while in dragonkin form, or severely lowering the cool downs. You don't see dragons flying around waiting to be able to breathe fire at you again, do you? -I'd imagine that as a dragonkin you'd be at least somewhat larger than your typical humanoid, and your dragon wings would take up most of your back, so armor would be out of the question. That being said, armor wouldn't really be necessary since you're coated with your own natural dragon scales (basically just add armor rating equivalent to dragon-scale or dragon-plate armor to represent that). -While I don't know that any dragons run around summoning atronachs, turning ore into gold, or turning themselves invisible, they ARE intensely magical creatures, so I'd think magic would be more potent somehow. Maybe increased spellpower/duration, or increased magicka pool/regeneration, or reduced casting costs? Idk, but I do think a dragon would make a better mage than most, if they were so inclined. -It could be a racial thing! Each race could have its own unique details to their dragonkin form, and could retain their ability to use racial powers. For example, a khajiit dragonkin could have more pronounced claws and fangs, more feline eyes, maybe tufts of fur sticking out in between their scales (imagine if a dragon and a tiger had a baby). An argonian would have a more reptilian, slick look to them and a naturally venomous set of fangs/claws. -It could be a quest oriented kind of thing as well! Maybe a post-primary questline kind of thing, or maybe the quest wouldn't trigger until the dragonborn had learned a certain number of shouts (you gotta be so powerful as a dragonborn before parthurnaax will talk to you about it or something). I just don't think it'd be something that ought to be available to the character then minutes after they first slip away from their initial beheading, but should still be available early enough that they could be beating down main-line quests with style. I do hope you guys get what I'm going for. Like I said, MUCH easier to look at in my brain than it is to type onto a keyboard. I personally think that this would make for an excellent alternative to being a werewolf or vampire, and would really help the character FEEL as powerful as they truly are. I mean your only job is to beat down the biggest, baddest, most powerful dragon to have ever existed, and somehow being a normal dude who can breathe fire just doesn't seem like it should cut it. Idk, if anyone likes my idea PLEASE feel free to run with it and do something amazing. I realize that this has got to be an absolutely monstrous undertaking, but I really do believe it'd be worth it in the end.

One of the challenges is that while a lot can be done in SkyEdit, the CK isn't out so, while not impossible, modifying and writing scripts is very challenging. I can't get even simple scripts recompiled and working properly but I know others have. In the meantime, follow these threads and make suggestions? http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/525207-vampire-mod-ideas/ http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/518801-vampire-overhaul/ For the most part, the vampires in Underworld really aren't all that interesting. Don't get me wrong, I loved the movies, but they're primarily just badass blood drinking, otherwordly strong immortal humans that use...guns. What part(s) about the Vampires did you like in Underworld that you'd like to see translated to Skyrim? Maybe some of it has a place in the mods we're all working on. -MM Ah, I didn't mean to be so vague about the vampires from underworld. What I meant, more specifically, was that I loathe the way the vampire works in skyrim as opposed to Underworld's setup. In skyrim you feed to go back to your physically weakest and least magically powerful form in exchange for optimal survivability in the sun; in Underworld they're typically badass all the time, though they do need to feed to survive and keep their accelerated healing processes. I do agree with you though, being a vampire in skyrim if we simply cut and paste from Underworld wouldn't be terribly exciting, not to mention rather irritating since 99% of the vampire race react fatally to sunlight. I mean getting to jump and fall a hundred feet at a time would be cool, as would the massive strength and speed and such, but no nifty spells or anything of the like. No, I simply meant that a vampire is a vastly physically superior being to a human being , and that by no means should feeding cause the vampire to become weaker. I feel the same way about the lycans too, really. If the only changes were a fair bump to physical strength and speed in human form with the ability to change into werewolf form, it'd be the same setup as what skyrim already has. Some extra powers would be a necessity; some exlusive to wolf or human form, some that apply to both.

Well, here's the situation. I'm a level 76 breton who's a bamf at just about everything. In my travels I've managed to accrue a ridiculous number of amazing, powerful artifacts. I've managed to build literal mountains of gold with the fortunes gained from plundering the depths of skyrim. I've even managed to find a woman to call my own, and am happily married. Tell me then, why exactly is it that my pile of 500,000+ hard earned septims can't get my wife out of those rediculous rags she calls clothes, and into something respectable? Like freakin seriously. Or why is it that when I tell Mjoll to hang out in town for a few days while I do some less-than-reputable things for the brotherhood, I come back to find her standing around in a suit of worthless iron armor when she has a perfectly good set of super-enchanted ebony plate in her inventory? And if a courier is diligent enough to track me down 10 miles outside of town just to deliver a letter for me, why can't I tip him with that nifty magic ring I found instead of just pawning it off for fifty bucks in the next town? I don't see a good reason. Seriously, it shouldn't be such a big deal. Okay really, aside from my whining, I'd seriously like someone to add a basic interaction with 99% of available npcs. Something that would allow me to trade with them, and once trading was concluded, forced that npc to re-evaluate their inventory and equip accordingly. Something along the lines of this; Walk up to beggar. Beggar asks for coin. Instead, I give beggar a hat and some gloves to help him/her keep a little warmer at night. Beggar actually takes the hat and puts it on, because skyrim is a cold f***ing place and they're living outside 99.99999% of the time. I feel warm and fuzzy inside for helping the poor bugger, I move on with my life. Yaaay. Can it be done? I looked through the nexus a bit and couldn't find anything like that, so either I missed it or it's more trouble than it's worth, or maybe I'm just the only weirdo who wants to be able to personally equip everybody I meet in the game. *shrugs*

So seriously, becoming a vampire or werewolf in vanilla skyrim is downright embarrassing. I mean seriously, between levels 10 and 76, I used my werewolf powers a grand total of 3 freaking times. And the vampire powers were not any better, in my opinion. Now I've read through several threads on the matter, and looked through almost every file that turned up for "vampire" or "werewolf" on the nexus, and didn't find anything terribly impressive. So, does anyone know of any working vampire/werewolf mods (I'm inclined to call them fixes, since I don't understand how Beth allowed this crap to happen in the first place) out and about? I mean really, if I could just snap my arch-magey fingers and fuse Underworld and Skyrim, it'd be done like an hour ago. Any suggestions guys?

Yeah I got to the point where you sell the amulet back to calixto and he's supposed to tell you who the amulet is supposed to belong to, but he doesn't. From that point on, nobody else in the quest brings up their appropriate dialogue, and even stealing calixto's journal out of the chest doesn't do anything to advance the quest. Is there any way to fix this? Like, can I just kill calixto and be done with it? Or do I need to use some console commands to fix this? Keep in mind, I started this quest weeks ago and forgot about it, so reverting to a prior save is definitely not an option.

LE Dwarven Tech and possible player home
wolfe171 replied to Jeffman12's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
I actually really like this idea. I mean it always kind of offended me that I can be a master enchanter, a master blacksmith, master EVERYTHING, being able to make daedric armor (which is essentially artifact level gear for most of the elder scrolls world), discover new powerful spells for every kind of magic, etc etc, but NOT be able to reverse engineer a few technologies from one of the ten thousand dwemer ruins lying around skyrim. Maybe it'd have to be something that you'd HAVE to have maxed out blacksmithing or something to start. I think that'd be awesome actually, since there's no kind of master-level quest for blacksmithing (or anything besides the magic skills, really) and it'd give a more gratifying feel to maxing out your blacksmithing than just being able to make daedric armor. -
I'm so for this whole idea, it's rediculous. I especially like IxionInc's idea for adding different classes to the firearms; hell, I wish they'd done at least a little something for the bows! I mean I know it's not a huge difference, but shooting a longbow and shooting a compact little composite bow has its definite different attributes. Seriously, have fun drawing a huge long bow and actually pulling the shot on a guy charging head-long at you at close range, or trying to use your compact bow to reach out and touch that bear way off in the distance. I'd even think that you could retain a bit of the bow's firing style... just a little bit. What I mean is in regards to aiming the weapon. Instead of going the typical route and just right clicking to stare down the sights (or down the barrel, depending if this particular piece HAS sights) and then clicking to fire, just hold the fire button to aim the gun and release to fire, just like you would your bow! The only difference would be that the damage doesn't change, just your chance of actually hitting the target the longer you steady your shot. Then you could still tap off a quick shot if the guy you're trying to kill JUST so happens to be charging straight at you, and you'd still have the other mouse button to either block, rifle butt, or (in the case of pistols) fire your other gun. I mean since most of these firearms are going to be single-shot or require switching to an entirely different barrel to fire the next shot, it's not like you're going to have to worry about keeping your eyes down your sights through repeat shots. I know this is just my opinion, but I really do think that adding some low-tech / steam-punk / magic-powered weapons would be an amazing addition to Skyrim. Just imagine delving deep into a dwemer ruin, battling centurions and dynamos and little spider-bots, making it down to that dwemer armory, and seeing some crazy tripple-barreled musket thing propped up on the center-most shelf. I know I personally would just sit there and stare at it for a minute, just imagining what the next bandit I ran into was going to do when I whipped that bad-mothah-luvah out on him. Too bad they didn't script enemies to curl up into a ball and cry like little girls when they bumped into a vastly superior opponent :P Seriously though, I'm keeping my eyes on this thread. I can only hope that this idea reaches fruition!

Well, I tried the vampirism thing. I contracted the disease, went all twilight on skyrim, and cured myself as quickly as I could, and still no rest bonus. Does it stop after a certain level or something? My character IS level 76, pretty close to topping out. Wouldn't suprise me if they capped the resting bonus after a certain point, just to make hitting those higher levels seem more gratifying or something :\

While we're at it, can't we bring in some other bits and pieces from the Warcraft universe? Personally, I loved the look of the footmen from Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and think that the imperial soldiers would look preeeeetty badass with their set-up. Link to the war3: roc intro video in case you dunno what I'm talking about: Of course, blizzard managed to make just about everything in their cutscenes look gorgeous in that game. God, I hate what they've done to azeroth with WoW :[ Oh and btw, Illidan is my f***ing hero from Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. I'd give my soul to any aedra or daedra if they'd only give me his wings *drools*

Oho, hadn't thought of the vampirism thing. Didn't know about curing vampirism balancing everything out, but I hadn't thought to try and get it either. Can't say I've noticed catching anything since I half-cured myself, but I guess I hadn't actively tried... well, off to my local blood-sucking coven :P I guess I'll let y'all know how it goes?

Ya know I was actually thinking that maybe a gun-like/cannon-like construct would be at least somewhat lore-friendly to skyrim, but maybe I'm putting too much stock in people's mastery of magic in skyrim. To clarify, I was thinking it'd be a construct essentially operating like a staff combined with a crossbow. There would be some kind of barrel/resting area for the bolt/arrow/round/whatever, and a controlled explosion from a fireball-esqe spell or a particularly focused telekinesis spell would propel the projectile at magnificent speeds. Obviously this would be a rather complex construct, requiring excellent metal-working (at least to keep the controlled explosion concept from just blowing up your weapon) and excellent enchanting skill. Once the construct was finished being built, it'd be particularly easy to operate. If more rilfe-like, the character would simply pop the projectile down the barrel and activate the firing mechanism (being a magic-powered weapon, could really be just like casting a spell or using a staff); if more like a crossbow, just pop the bolt into its slot and activate firing mechanism. Then all you'd need is ammo and soul gems to keep it going. I figure this idea would actually give the most liberal artistic freedom to the weapon. Since literally all it needs is a guiding means for the projectile and a physical housing for the soul gem, it could literally look like anything. It wouldn't necessarily need to look like a rifle, since it wouldn't NEED to facilitate a trigger or hammer or firing pin or drawstring or anything. Could be a rock with a groove carved into it and a soul gem shoved into the side of it, and the power of enchanting would make it work all the same. Obviously an arrow-flinging-rock wouldn't be particularly exciting, but I'm just trying to reinforce my point. Honestly, if I had any idea whatsoever on how to actually MAKE my little weapon idea a reality, I would be doing that right now. Oh and I'm not terribly heavy on the entirety of the elder scrolls lore (oblivion was my starting point) so please don't be offended if this idea just seems outrageous to you. Just figured I'd post up my idea, take it or leave it I guess.
-
Oh and also, I just noticed that this posted inside the "Skyrim mod requests" section, and I have no idea how it got there. My bad, not trying to be crazy or anything :\

No seriously though, I have an issue with my lycanthropic status, if you will. So I did the purity quest, throwing the witch head into the fire and fighting my wolf spirit, right? Well I kill it, and nothing seemingly happens. I check and see that my werewolf powers are gone, so I figure I'm all good, right? Well, I still can't become rested (even though it doesn't say that I can't anymore), which leads me to think I'm still a werewolf. Tried getting the ring of hircine and seeing if that did anything, and it doesn't have the power show up, so I'm guessing I'm cured. So, how do I fix this thing to where my character reverts back to being a normal human being, instead of now being a normal human being with a serious case of insomnia? Or can I at least get my werewolfy powers back without using console commands? Still on my first playthrough, so I'm avoiding console commands as much as possible. They're reserved for Skyrim, round 2 :P Seriously, any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know if using console commands causes steam to refuse to track gameplay hours in skyrim like it did in fo:nv?
