  1. At least Rockstar didnt give up on the game. Its like bethesda just fixed a few bugs with each DLC, which in turn created more bugs...just general laziness really. If you read further back through the posts I did query this, or someone did, and the problem is even with a massive overhaul, all it takes is one conflicting mod to undo everything you have worked so hard to achieve. AS well as you would then have to make every mod that involves meshes, textures etc, work with your overhaul. so therein lies a problem in itself. and with so many files to edit to create "the perfect game" for yourself, its a tall order. Its not discouraging, just perhaps a different problem solving method might work?
  2. Wow, but not surprised though. Its like most new things, they work better than the previous lot, on paper, but it takes time for them to get going. Unfortunately with the pace of computers its a little hard to keep up. And it translates to games. Its all become monetized now, investors, DEADlines (which ironically is what kills some games) all that stuff forces a rushed product and you just end up with a less than average game. All this focus on everything BUT the game and the people making it. As well as with the increase of data in games, I think thats where a LOT of bugs come from. go back about 10-15 years. games worked...why? because they were simple, the gameplay was fun, it wasn't overly complex, and it wasn't 30+ GB. So people didn't get lost in stacks and stacks of code, and having to try and find bugs in such a massive haystack. You still get the odd gem, GTA V for example, but they are few and far between now. I could be way off in my statement, but I'm 31 and started off on a pc when I was about 7 playing a game called jezzball. went through consoles like most kids and now back on PC. So I have an idea.
  3. This is what I was afraid of, other mods nullifying all that hard work . And would it be harder for the authors of each mod to adapt their mod to the overhaul/fix? Bugger, guess its a new PC several years from now then. guess I better get started on skyrim..... The better question would be why someone would keep these other mods running when there's a general fix. I have removed quite a few mods when another one added their functionality anyway. Main reason I think is textures. EG trees, so the fix gets rid of bloating in the city right which includes trees. then a texture file overwrites said trees and forces a reset somehow which in turn nullifies original work. Although the retex edits tress in commonwealth, its still the same trees used in downtown. But then again, am I wrong because there are different cells? Moddability. Look at the main mod page. skyrim has most mods fallout etc. ALL bethesda games and easy enough to modify. So people edit it, make the game better and give it a positive rating. Its a smart ploy on bethesdas part, being lazy with a game and getting the community to fix it up. Yet I feel they were just drunk in some ways when doing F4.
  4. This is what I was afraid of, other mods nullifying all that hard work :(. And would it be harder for the authors of each mod to adapt their mod to the overhaul/fix? Bugger, guess its a new PC several years from now then. guess I better get started on skyrim.....
  5. Ah, I do indeed have that mod installed. That makes sense now that you mention it. Cait's exercise station is located very close to a toilet, so that explains it - she takes a dump and forgets to put her clothes back on. I take a dump and forget to put my clothes back on all the time. happens to the best of us
  6. Hey guys merry xmas, and a happy new year. Well it will be because 2016 f***en sux. we lost Princess Leia :( So close but its not over yet. Anyway I wanted to thank everyone for blowing this up, got some answers that i wanted to hear, and its great. Thanks man will try this. Pretty sure I used it once, but still, with current config and rig, still having issues. And this is with no mods. I'm wondering how do I do a complete delete and reinsttall of f4. Maybe some files leftover are interfering with my PC? Basically I got it about 2 years ago, and havent cleaned the C drive or anything yet. so maybe time for new SSD? So if it means altering lines of code, EG a tree used instead of a bush in the city. So i alter code to load a bush instead. OR would I need to edit location as well so bush actually appears on the road/ground etc? Would be something I might be able to manage since rewriting code cant be that difficult. CREATING code...mmm little scared. Thanks for writing this, and bring this to light. Learn something new every day :) Playable for me is a steady consistent framerate, not 60 fps looking at a bank and 35 looking at a building. Its terrible. How did we get a voiced protagonist into this topic, and why is it such a big deal? I for one think its ok, but I dont like having 4 options, because its pick 1 and lose 3. Id rather just have a yes or no, and good or bad answer option. and thats for a player choice, which would be a small part of the game. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. This explains pretty much everything, and I had no idea. well I have 4790 with 970 SLI, 16gb CAS 7 ram, and the only time I have hit close to 80 frames is looking at the floor. Thats was the one time I ran it without vsync etc. keeping it at 60 always worked for me. Settings wise, it was never on high, just a custom mix of options with godrays disabled in whatever .ini file and shadows almost nonexistent. As for mods most I've ever had was 145, and it worked better than vanilla. until the constant crashes in a certain area when I had conflict with some creature. How low were your settings may I ask? what diod you edit in .ini files if anything? OK mr. prejudice, put your ignorance aside. Dont try and insult people here, go to 4chan or reddit. Is there any way to put these files together to clean up the game? Fix bethesdas mess? Could I fix most of downtown somehow, or is it too big of an ask for one person who doesnt know much about computers Yeah.... BOS, raiders, 7fps in some places, Supermutants, Triggermen... A fine place to come.. spend your money, settle down. good song.....settle down as in whoah whoah whoah there framerate now dont go getting too high lets just settle at 5. there ya go, time slows down around here we dont like speedsters here eheheh Fantastic advice +1
  7. the first time running with mods, I used LOOT but NMM changed the load order automatically. well from what I saw but I could have been mistaken. I dont use 4k retex at al except for pipboy and power armour. Even then its meh for me. I like eye candy, but in no way am i a screen archer. I just want solid 60 fps. My screen res is at 19x10 and with 970 SLI it should be fine. Like so many others have said the game is s*** optimisation. In regards to ini edit, is that the 0.0025 and 0.005f change? I though that was in regards to time of day? Only setting I play with shadows is shadow boost by alexander blade. I wasnt aware of a shadow transition setting in the ini? Also no mods running on 3rd install, which is why I havent written a list. I can provide an SS of my download history with dates if that helps? EDIT Thank you for responding, I may just save up for a new pc. Im starting to have issues with my SLI setup so maybe the cards are on their way out, IDK. Have had them OCed for about a year now
  8. yeah see its thes inconsistency that I cant handle. Maybe its my OCD IDK. Are you running any mods? I may need to reinstall widows on a fresh SSD at some stage and see if that works. had it for about 2 yeas and havent done anything yet.
  9. I can take a wild educated guess what the honest answer is, but please refrain from insults in the honest answer. Its surprising how many people use that as an excuse to throw barbs. I'm gonna say no, and its been abandoned by bethesda. Its a shame really because the game is the perfect blueprint for a game for the community. There is a basic of everything in an RPG and the amount of mods and customisation added to it, just really make the game what it should be. And good thinking by bethesda they dont do much work, get paid a shitload, and let the community finish the game for them. Face it, as gamers we moan about everything, so if control is given to us, well we can only moan at each other. I just wish they had made a stable game you know. But since its such a dated engine, perhaps the level of coding etc they have done to the engine, well there is only so much they could do maybe?
  10. Either by a collection of modders working on it, or bethesda releasing a patch. I shouldn't need to say FPS, but I will state it anyway. Also, in my spare time, would it be possible to do this myself or far too much ork for one person? bear in mind I can navigate files easily enough so following paths etc is no problem. But I am a cook by trade so I dont know much about the internal workings of code, scripts etc etc.
  11. Hey guys so I have reinstalled F4 3x currently, and am on the verge of ditching it for something else. I really want to play it, since with the mods that are out, I have everything I wanted and more to play with and this is what I wanted it for originally. The base game is a perfect blueprint for modders to add everything that isnt there. good by bethesda I think, just make a basic game, and let modders do the work. Besides we all complain about what is and isnt in there so its better if the community does it IMO. ANYWAY install #1. Loaded up 150 mods, ran into concord and the game turned into a laggy slo mo unplayable thing. Promptly deleted F4 folder and pasted files from a backup. Start again. Install #2. Played around with a few mods, tweaked a couple of settings but was still getting lag like the game was slowing down when looking in a certain direction. deleted folder again, reinstall. Install #3. I loaded up (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3511/?) to test my frames, before starting a new game. Perfect save since its on top of the tallest tower, so if I can maintain 60 there, everywhere else shouldnt be a problem. Steady freaking 30-35 with a drop below 30 depending which pixel the crosshair was on. same in other parts of the city when looking down streets and especially in the area where you encounter swan. So I start playing with recommended ini tweaks, using old guides to tweak nvinspector, which contains stuff that isnt even there anymore :( and so forth. I have scoured google for help and nothing works. Even the urban fps area fix doesnt help. You name it I have probably tried it, short of playing with hardware and so forth. I am lost and I dont really want to spend a couple of years saving up 2-3k for a new pc. Thing is my system has F4 on an SSD, I have 16gb ram with cas7, 4790 cpu with 970 SLI. This should not be happening considering I had little to no issues with a single 970 when F4 first came out. I am sure there is something i am missing, but I dont know what, and I dont know where to look. Please help me guys. I know F4 is a fickle game because of the old engine and the problems that plague it. but there has to be something to get stable frames.
  12. looks like Im not the only one with this issue. The forums at bethesda are loaded with posts about the same issue. Guess I have to wait until its stable :( Would be nice if somebody updated and/or made a standalone for fo4edit
  13. ok so I reinstalled into Fallout 4 folder. this time when i click install it says getting product info. after about 3-5 seconds it goes straight back to not installed. Now what? like why does it have to be this difficult?
  14. so title says it, download bethesda launcher, trying to DL CK and all im stuck with is a rotating square and nothing happening. 2 things come to mind, I did change the folder name during installation and location, and FO4 is on a separate HDD to reular C drive. Cant think of any other reason why this woudl happen. help?
