    greetings

I joined a while ago because I couldn't wait to test out this new computer and to see really great game graphics. By a while ago I mean 3 weeks or so. My first posts were asking for help about getting started, and though i haven't received any answers yet (lol), I think just having a place to type my thoughts out helped me to realize what I was doing better. I'm very excited to test out mods from all you great creative folk and feel I should have at least I should say hello before I start grovelling for more simple answers. HI!!!! It's a pleasure meeting you all.
  2. Ok...I see now that I just have to click the mod in the left panel for it to show up. Kinda an easy step, but also easily an oversight. How do I delete this thread? I think I'm on the right path.
  3. I'm thinking that perhaps some of the layout of files looks different because of new versions of software, etc. It seems like the download manager is working fine as I'm getting a request to launch, and am actively downloading. I'm just vexed as to why the .esp files for the patches are not showing up in the plugin windows.
  4. Sorry for any confusion, but here's another update. I'm double checking my steps and see that the nxm file was still in the local/app/chrome directory http://forum.step-project.com/topic/4736-google-chrome-cant-download-from-skyrim-nexus-using-mo/ So I tried it again and seemed to find some success. I get this pop up: http://imgur.com/WHALhFi It says: Apply chrome fix Chrome may not support nexus links even though the association is set up correctly. Do you want to apply a fix for that (You have to close chrome before pressing yes or this will have no effect!)? I've tried closing chrome and pressing yes and nothing happens. I re-check the local-state file and see that nxm:false is back into the file. I delete it again, retry the association and press NO and nothing seems to happen. The nxm file is still missing, but I'm not sure if I accomplished anything. I'm trying deleting the paches now and reinstalling them to see if the .esp files will show in the plugins window
  5. Hello all, I discovered this tutorial on how to begin modding Skyrim http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56894/? and have been following it step by step. The tutorial is very detailed which makes following it so easy. However I've come across a few hurdles when I began trying to install mods which I'm seeking help with. Quick note: I did install Nexus Mod Manager 10 days ago and was able to download and activate some mods--mostly UI stuff--but I uninstalled NMM as best I could so that I could start from a clean slate. I followed the instructions for creating a vanilla save state and vanilla steamapp. 1.) My first issue is perhaps with step 5 (actually start modding) . When asked to hit the associate with download with manager link, I do so, but nothing seems to happen. The words are encased in a gray box, which I believe it was to start with. I seem to be having no issues using the download with manager button in the nexusmods forum--the mods download into MO and I can activate them there. But still, I am suspicious if my previous NMM install or perhaps a browser setting/plugin may be contributing to problems. I can download mods with MO, so no problems, right? 2.) I've made it all the way to step 7 where I begin installing Nexus Mods. I downloaded the unofficial patches for the game and the dlc I own and wonder if I made a mistake here. Some of the installs brought up a warning asking me if I wanted to "include this or that .bsa that may get overwritten or deleted". There was also a box to check to remember the decision. I clicked Yes to include the extra .bsa in all instances, though forgot to "remember" the initial occurrence. Note: I was able to download and activate the patches through Mod Organizer. 3.) After running LOOT and sorting plugins, my list vary somewhat to what the tutorials suggests I should have. I do not see a lightning bolt under my Unofficial Skyrim Patch, for example--tutorial says I should. I see the bolt under the "unmanaged-DLC" and unmanaged highres texpack series. I assumed I changed the order of the mod loads by changing priority numbers. Doing that gave me a similar list to what was suggested my left panel look like. However my plugins tab doesn't show any of the Patch.esps at all. I'm wondering if this is related to the patch installation/.bsa issue I encountered earlier on. I've stopped my modding project here, just to be safe as I'd like to get everything just correct. Here's a link to what my MO looks like currently: http://imgur.com/aic4Yvt edit: am I correct in thinking the .esp files are missing because i don't have the associate with download manager configuration right? This would also explain why the dlcs and hi-res patches are marked unmanaged? edit2: just for more clarification, i have followed the steps in this guide to see if the problem would resolve. There doesn't seem to be any change http://forum.step-project.com/topic/4736-google-chrome-cant-download-from-skyrim-nexus-using-mo/
