  1. I'm not going to mock you. I'm going to THANK YOU, for coming back and telling everybody what the exact problem was. Not everybody does that, and instead will come back and say "NVM, fixed it" and that's the last you see of them. So, I appreciate you coming back and letting everybody know what the problem was, and I'm sure people in the future, with the same problem, will be thankful too. *The only thing I will warn against, is running Vortex as Admin and ignoring the warning I locked myself out of Vortex' files until I took ownership of the folders it accesses. Yeah, that's a fair point. Running anything in Admin mode is dangerous if you don't understand it. It'd be nice if certain Steam games weren't so thoroughly broken as to require Steam running in Admin mode in the first place, but that's neither here nor there.
  2. Consider this topic closed. I've figured out the issue. When I changed the Steam.exe program to no longer run as admin, I forgot the SteamOverlayUI.exe. Changed that, and the overlay now works. So, in case anyone else has this issue, make sure Steam, the Overlay, AND Vortex are all running with the same elevation. Either run them all as admin (ignoring Vortex's warning), or run them all as standard. You may now all publicly mock me for my stupid mistake. Thanks to those who tried to help.
  3. It's all good. Seems that one of my special powers is causing weird and obscure bugs to occur in even the most well tested software.
  4. Except the Steam Overlay DOES work with Fallout 4. I can boot Fallout 4 from Steam and be able to play the game and access the Overlay with zero issues. It is only, and I can't stress this enough, ONLY when I launch through Vortex that the overlay does not work. Furthermore, I tested if the Steam beta might be the issue, since I'm opted into it. Changing to the stable release of Steam had no effect. Thank you for the links, and trying to help, but this seems to be a Vortex exclusive issue.
  5. I'm going to go ahead and bump this topic. The issue hasn't gone away, nor have I been able to fix it, even after re-installing Vortex. If anyone has any more advice, I'd appreciate it.
  6. I turned CFA off when I reinstalled Win 10. That setting has been nothing but problems for me in the past.
  7. I was more thinking of doing a re-install of Vortex, and seeing if something got fudged during the install process. Copied your settings to a T, still no dice. Furthermore, I just did my weekly reboot last night. Didn't fix anything. On a hunch, I went looking and couldn't find any permissions issues either. No weirdly marked "Read Only" files or firewall issues.
  8. Can't believe I didn't think to try that. Still no luck, I'm afraid, but that pretty much proves that this is purely a Vortex issue. Though, I cannot, for the life of me, think what if might be. I've checked pretty much every setting and window I could and have found NOTHING to indicate what the problem is. I'm at the point where I might just uninstall Vortex and see if that fixes the issue.
  9. I've read that, but have had zero issues with the overlay affecting ANY of the Beth games I've played. Plus, I'm fine with occasional issues if it means being able to access the features the Overlay has (chat, achievements, time, etc.). Not a huge fan of alt-tabbing all the time. Thanks for the advice, though.
  10. I have an nVidia GTX 1070, so I doubt it's something exclusive to Nvidia/AMD. Oh well, like I said, it's not a huge problem. Just means I won't have the overlay when playing. Hopefully, one of the devs or someone who has had this problem will pop in and be able to help more. Thanks for making the effort, in any case.
  11. Steam was set to run as Admin due to another game I have (Steam had to run as admin in order to avoid the game crashing). Changed back to non-Admin mode. Still no overlay.
  12. GPU acceleration is currently on. Turned it off to test if that was the issue, but no dice.
  13. Hello all. I just recently returned to the modding scene after an extended absence and replaced NMM with Vortex. I've got everything set up and working, with only one minor issue. I'm currently running a modded Fallout 4 game with about 41 mods, ranging from texture fixes to weapons. I've got Vortex set up to launch F4SE in the dashboard (pointing to the f4se_loader.exe in my Fallout 4 folder), and it's set as the primary when launching the game. When launched, Script Extender loads (version number visible in settings menu in-game), and mods work. Steam even says that I'm in-game. However, it does NOT load the Steam Overlay. This seems to be a Vortex issue, as launching directly from the .exe works fine, as does launching from the Steam Library. I also did the old trick of replacing the Fallout4Launcher.exe with a renamed SE launcher. This also worked when launched from the both the Library and .exe directly, but not from Vortex. I'm running on Windows 10, Version 10.0.18362 Build 18362. Vortex is version 1.1.15. This is seriously a minor issue, but it's been bugging me for over a week now. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  14. I hope today finds you all well, because it certainly hasn't been for me. When I went to class this morning, the Geck was being its usual, barely functioning self. Nothing new there. What is new is that, now that I'm home, I cannot, for the life of me, get the damn thing to work. It now crashes loading FalloutNV.esm at 41% and always, always, on cell LAND " (22,11). It instantly goes to "Not Responding" and, unlike when its working, never comes back. Just crashes. That's it, that's all I got to work with here. Nothing has changed, as far as I can tell, since this morning. The only thing that has changed was a new definition file for Ad Aware. ANY help is appreciated at this point. I'll do what I can to help the process along. Edit: The problem has magically gone away, though I'm sure it'll be back. Apologies for wasting all your valuable time.
  15. I know that you posted this back in May, sorry it took so long to respond. College and stuff. Anyways, this will only require Lonesome Road and Honest Hearts. Unfortunately, while I may be able to remove these requirements at some point after the initial release, they both contain models I need. We'll see. I hate to see people not able to play my mods because of DLC requirements, but sometimes they are necessary things. Sorry.
  16. As the title states, my question is twofold: I have a town in my mod that has a new reputation. I have said reputation linked to the towns faction. However, the reputation will not appear on the map markers in-game even though I have it set in the GECK. Also, when killing a member of said faction, my reputation does not decrease with that faction. Secondly, my faction is set to track crimes. However, after killing a member of the faction, the entire faction does not turn hostile. So, how would I go about decreasing the reputation if I kill a member, how can I make said reputation appear on map markers and in the reputation sub-menu of the pip-boy, and how can I control hostility of the faction through murder/crime? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  17. Kind of curious if this is dead or not. Has a lot of potential.
  18. Much thanks to both of you. Fortunately, a lot of the music I am looking at has had renditions done by governmental bands / is in the library of congress. Thus, they are in the public domain.
  19. The Nellis Boneyard Hello everyone. For a while now, I have been tossing around the idea of making a new world space. The mod takes place in the former Nellis Testing Range, as well as parts of western Nevada and California. Background: The Nellis Boneyard has always been a sought after region. Before the war, it was the largest military testing ground in the country, and contained enough fire power to destroy any nation that stood in its owner’s way. When the Great War occurred, the land was left desolate. The bases stopped bustling with activity, the bombs stopped detonating in the desert. The few who remained soon drifted off, hoping to etch out a living in the new world. When the Desert Rangers rose to prominence, they left the Boneyard be. Too many of America’s dark secrets lay there. When the war with Caesar’s Legion began to go badly, the Rangers returned, hoping to find a means of destroying their enemy. They failed. The tribes in the region destroyed their scouts, burned supply lines, and made a campaign in the region too costly. The Desert Rangers were soon absorbed into the NCR. Thus, the cycle began again. NCR troopers and rangers began moving into the region. They were drawn to the Old World relics. They established bases, incorporated towns, secured roadways, their eyes permanently fixed on the region. When the Divide was ripped apart by nuclear fire, the NCR forces in the Boneyard were cut off. They could no longer receive support directly from California. They had to survive without the Republic. Then the Legion came. The war in the Mojave has ground to a stalemate, and Caesar is looking to break the deadlock. If he can flank the NCR, he can destroy them. Vegas would be his for the taking. Not only that, but the Yard Walkers, a tribe in the Boneyard, would like nothing better than to be integrated into the Legion. The Courier’s entrance will tip the scales. Blood will be spilled, and the secrets of the Old World will be brought to life. Gameplay: The Courier will travel north, into the Nellis Test Range. Within, they will find new factions, the NCR and Legion conflict’s spill over, and the lost remnants of a bygone era. The player is free to roam a wasteland that is roughly the size of the Mojave wasteland. They will fight new monsters, explore deserted military installations, and meet new companions. The fabled Area 51, Area 2, and numerous other locations, mentioned in Fallout New Vegas, will now be fully explored. Multiple side quests, as well as a complex main story await. There are no black and white choices, no good or bad guys. Everyone has spilled blood, and, before your journey is done, the sands will run with it. Finally, my call for help: While I have done a decent amount of work already, including laying out the world space, making factions, etc., I do need help. Specifically, I need the following: Modelers (Armor, Weapons, etc.)Texture Artists (It would be a plus if you could make nice looking world maps for the pip-boy)People experienced in making world spaces (Roads, LOD generation, etc.)Scripters (Mostly for quests)Script Advisers (This would just be making yourself available if I have a question. Preferably you would be able to respond within a day)Play Testers (These would not be needed until later)If you are interested, please contact me. Note: I am a college student, so it may take me a couple of days to reply. However, I will be posting screenshots of my work within a few days. If you want to wait until then, that would be fine. Also, I do have a design document written. If you decide to help, I will be sure to send you a copy.
  20. Hi all, hoping to get some answers here. Recently, I began working on a mod that adds a new wasteland to explore (I know, I know, real creative), but I'm having an issue. Specifically, I want to add some music. The default stations are fine, but I want to add a new station, as well as a couple of scenes that would be 10x better with a couple of songs I have picked out. (Specifically, Yellow Rose of Texas.) However, I am at a loss. I see absolutely awesome radio mods posted on the Nexus, but then I see posts from the mods (Like this: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3810705-will-my-mod-be-allowed/), saying that some music cannot be used. So, here's the question. What music CAN I use? Is all music off limits? And, if so, why are some mods, like the awesome CONELRAD mod, allowed to use songs that I have no doubt are copyrighted. Wasn't sure quite where to post this, but any help on this matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  21. Well, I'm glad to see at least some people like the idea. Sunfyre: It would take some time. Kingman park is a large water front area in OTL. Combine that with clutter, scripting, etc. However, with the right team this could also get done much faster. Half the reason it isn't done is that I never looked for outside help. SigmondDroid: I tried my best to take the best aspects of all these groups. However, they will be quite different as well. I set out with the goal of making all the groups exist in a moral grey area. charwo: Ghouls in the beginning. One of the later quests has the player help expand their group by bringing in new recruits. I do have a very rough prototype build if anyone is open to looking at it at some point. I'm not great at coding, so this is an open offer to anyone interested. I'll try to work on it between my classes and get something presentable together. Thanks for your time everyone.
  22. So, I've had an idea for a mod for awhile now. In fact, I have a file started, but wanted to get your input on it. So, first off, the general story idea: The main story of the mod would take place in the Kingman Park district of DC, along the Anacostia River. It would deal with a new faction known as: The Old Guard, or simply The Guard. This is a remnant of the 33rd National Guard Battalion, who holed up in the DC armory when the bombs fell. When the bombs stopped falling, they emerged to try to help out the local civilian populace, and suffered because of it. It has since split into two factions. The Exiles, who chose to break away and form a new faction, and the Loyalists, who chose to stick by their commanding officer. The mod would deal with the conflict between these two groups, as well as the on-going war which is taking place with a group known as the Jailhouse Rockers, who are decedents of former convicts from the DC correctional facility in the area. Ok, I also wanted to discuss the general idea I had for the outcome of the players actions. Eventually, the Guard could receive new recruits from the local populace. They would expand, and occupy areas such as the National Guard Depot, and the military checkpoints you find in the DC wasteland. They could also receive support from the BOS, and can re-unite with the Exiles against their common enemies. Also, the player could just kill everything or side with the convicts. In this case, the Kingman Park area would become a very hostile and dangerous place, but the player would also get access to one of the best markets in the wasteland, a safe base, and access to some very lucrative "business" ventures. I have a whole notebook filled with ideas like this. However, with Fallout 4's release approaching, I am unsure if I want to start working on a new mod. Please, let me know what you think.
  23. Reached 1000 downloads! Thanks to everyone!
