  1. It just occurred to me that this might be easier than I originally thought. With Elys's stat uncapper you can change the amount of experience gained from a skill increase. Putting that number to 0 is a possibility and the skill caps at certain levels can be customized iirc. That takes care of the skill part of my idea. I don't know how it was done, but maybe permission could be gained to incorporate it into my mod idea. Regardless, just for my own personal game does anyone know how one would go about adding new ways to gain level exp? Would it require scripting? I don't know anything about scripting... :psyduck:
  2. On the front page of skyrimnexus, I noticed someone has started working on an experience system that sounds about the same as OblivionXP. It got me thinking about the ideas I had, but never shared, with Oblivion. I really like a system of experience like this because it feels good to be rewarded directly for the things you have to do, like killing enemies, finishing quests, etc. I know with the vanilla system you gain exp inderectly by increasing the skills you use to accomplish things, but there are different ways to do it that don't give you sufficient reward. For example, you Fus Ro Dah a difficult enemy off a cliff. You win that battle, but rather than being rewarded for your creativity, you miss out on exp you could have had. A system like OblivionXP fixes all that, but my problem with it is that it takes away the fun and logic of increasing skills by using them. Here is a basic outline of my idea for an experience system. -Experience toward a level up is gained from killing an enemy -Experience toward a level up is gained from completing quests -Experience toward a level up is gained from succeeding in skill actions (picking locks and pockets, persuasion, etc) -Experience toward a level up is gained from discovering new locations -Experience toward a level up is gained from clearing dungeons and any other thing that doesn't have much of a reward, you get the idea... -Upon a level up, one perk point is gained, and an attribute is picked to increase by ten -Skills increase in the same manner as vanilla Skyrim -Skills are capped, the cap is raised with every level (not sure about this one, but it worked well in Everquest imo) -Level should not be capped so all perks can eventually be earned and there will always be a sense of progression That is basically it. Of course the experience rewards and exp curve would need to be properly balanced. I think this would work even better in Skyrim than it would have in Oblivion with the new perk and attribute system. Now as far as the creation of this mod goes, I would love to do it, but I have little experience. I'm not saying I won't attempt it, but I don't know if I will be able to get it to work the way I want it and it will surely take me forever to do anyway. Therefore, I give this idea to anyone and everyone who wants it. If you have the skill to make this happen, please do it! Even if you are not a modder, please reply, I'd like to hear people's thoughts about this idea. Thanks for reading!
