  1. Nope it's not SweetFX. I did a long play session without SweetFX and I made it through 2 full missions and then it just shut down.... I've just about given up. I have no god damn clue what the hell could be causing this... @dubious. Yes I cleaned everything. I deleted EVERYTHING related to XCOM, believe me. I'm not a noob when it comes to troubleshooting games but I've just never encountered something like this and I'm about to give us...I'm so upset about this, Enemy Within is coming out soon and I REALLY want to play that.
  2. It was the cleanest install I've performed on anything. Like I said in the original post, I went into regedit and removed any registry files related to XCOM, I did a windows search and deleted all files. I checked my hidden AppData folders and deleted anything I found related to XCOM. But I've had a possible breakthrough. The issue may have been SweetFX. I've been doing some one at a time tests replaying one mission without mods then adding in the few I had one at a time. I tried no mods and got through the mission, tried Additional heads mod and got through the mission but once I added SweetFX, it shut down within 2 mins of gameplay as it usually did.
  3. I ran Intelburntest test and EVGA OC Scanner at the same time on the most demanding settings for multiple runs. It's not my PSU, that drew more power than XCOM does. It's not my CPU, that drew more usage than XCOM does. It's not my GPU, that drew more usage than XCOM does. It's hard to test my motherboard but I assume if it was my mobo, other games would be affected. Also, if it's a hardware issue it generally affects other games. NO other game is affected like this. I really, really doubt it's my hardware. Like I just said above, nothing else is affected and it only happens in XCOM. I'm reinstalling it onto my other hard drive. If that doesn't work, I see no other option but to reinstall windows. I will note...It only happens during gameplay. If I leave the game paused or idle it doesn't seem to crash. I have experience in the past with how many massive problems sound codecs could make...is it possible it's related to that?

This is the craziest issue I'm having.....I downloaded a mod for XCOM(Toolboks) a month or so ago and I played with it for a while and then during that playthrough it suddenly started making my PC shut down. I've since reinstalled XCOM multiple times, gotten rid of the mod and did a huge sweep of any file related to XCOM. I even went into Regedit and deleted everything I could. Please don't tell me it's my PC, I played XCOM for 260 hours before this started happening, and it only happened once I got this mod. Like I said, that mod is now gone...but I dont know what to do. It still shuts down my PC.

So here's my issue, I haven't played Skyrim in a few, but I come back to it today and find out all distant mountains, and even distant terrain(best seen when at Whiterun) are all extremely low quality, blurry and jagged. I tried removing a bunch of mods, ones that I wouldn't even think could cause the problem. I can post my mod list if needed, but I just find it weird that this happens after coming back to the game from a break. I also run the game maxed out. Anyone seen this problem?
  6. Yes, it's safe. May prevent you from playing XCOM EU multiplayer, haven't tried myself. In that case just delete entries from hosts and let Steam do the job. Just to be sure I understand - you saved it as txt and then renamed to hosts without extension overwriting the original file in your windows installation folder\system32\drivers\etc\? Or add more health to Kevlar armor and check in new game. It's the first line ... iType=eItem_ArmorKevlar,iHPBonus=1 Mod friendly :) At first I saved it as a text file, am I supposed to do that? But then I just overwrote the original file, maintaining the same file type. Which one am I supposed to do? Edit: I just tried it both ways, tried changing the kevlar HP bonus, and started a new game. No difference. Why isn't this working for me??
  7. And this is safe? It won't compromise my Steam account? Edit: I've tried it now, can't seem to get anything to work ingame. I've saved the hosts file as a txt file and also overwrote it as a 'file' file. Neither seemed to work, do I need to start a new game to see the changes? I was just trying to quickly change a price of something and then loading a game to see if it works but it didn't change.
  8. I haven't read through this whole thing, but I'm curious if anyone knows. There's absolutely no way to edit the DefaultGameCore.ini and remain in online mode for Steam? I'm just looking to change a few values, but all these steps I have to go through are so user unfriendly and just ridiculous.
  9. I'll start this off with I'm already pretty console savvy and have tried searching around for stuff related to this but couldn't come up with anything.. I know it's possible though(Somehow), in a few videos, mainly Robbaz videos, I've seen random NPCs and Animals with custom names. Now...does anyone know how to edit an NPC's name?
  10. I just loved the look of the Oblivion ones. In the monsters mod there's a few things from Oblivion and Morrowind, not sure if they're remade or not. Hunger, Daedroth, Ogre to name a few.
  11. It might just be me but I loved the Zombies in Oblivion. I was so dissapointed that they weren't in Skyrim and I'm surprised that the Monster Mod, or anyone else, hasn't brought them over to Skyrim. Is there a reason for this?
  12. Hi, I'm here to request an extremely simple mod. I am not familiar with the Creation Kit so I must ask here...Will someone please make it so you're able to recruit more than 3 recruits for the Blades. Whether that number be 10, or unlimited..I don't care too much. If no one is willing to do it, maybe some one could share with me how to do this and I will try to do it myself.
  13. I've actually tried doing what you suggested Bismarck. Doesn't work unfortunatly.. There were a few multiple companion mods out before the CK but they were a bit technical so I'm sure eventually there will be some, I honestly just thought it would be one of the first mods! :P I'm also being impatient, I feel like the CK has been out for a week, there's over 700 mods on the work shop within a day and a half!
  14. I'm not too familiar with the Creation Kit. Hell if I knew how I'd be working on doing this right now. You don't think there would be a way to enable this via console? I doubt it since no one has mentioned it in the 3 months since Skyrims release.
