Update. I went ahead and completely removed XCOM (EU and EW) from Steam, reinstalled and then downloaded the latest version (Beta 15f-88-b15f3) and everything started fine, including my saved files. Thanks, Pariahsolo

Hoi chummers, Been playing LW for a bit now and last night I noticed that Steam was updating my XCOM EU folder while playing. Didn't affect me while I continued to play but I had to stop in the middle of a mission (Mission 210). So I saved and shut PC down. This morning, the XCOM launcher opens up but if I click on either EU or EW, the cursor just sits and spins. I even let the cursor spin for an hour before I had to use Task Manager to shut down the launcher. I have to use the Task Manager to shut the launcher down everytime. I have been trying to research online (am thinking I may have to reinstall LW) and I also think I had too many save files, so I deleted about 40 of them (on my 17th play through between EU, EW and LW). To compound things, I just had surgery and am on some (for me) heavy duty narcotics, so my Search-Fu is definitely lacking. Any suggestions? (I really don't want to lose the game I had so far. Version I am running is Beta15f-88-b15f from July 2015. Thanks, Pariahsolo
