Recipes and Condition Functions
thisfoodisfake replied to thisfoodisfake's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Ah! just found it, thanks to dissecting the "More Craftables" mod by Aeon Vita. I just choose getquestcompleted and choose the quest... so simple. Thanks to Aeon! -
I know how to unlock the ability to smith items based on perks, but how do I unlock an item based on completion of a quest? for instance, one thing i want to do is to make orcish armor dependent on having the orc smithing perk, as well as completion of either the forgemasters fingers quest or the skilled apprenticeship quest. Which function do i use?

I've got a puzzle I am trying to figure out. I want to merge several armor mods and compilations so i can work with them all at the same time, not to mention get rid of compatibility problems. I am not sure what the best way to do this is though, as there are several esm and esp files that would need to be merged, and i dont know how to merge anything in the first place. I could make my own esp and add all the stuff in by hand using the source files, but that would take forever! Any help would be very much appreciated!!

Texture replacing in creation kit
thisfoodisfake replied to thisfoodisfake's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
wow thanks! couldn't find that in the wiki... along with a bunch of other stuff -
I remember in the Morrowind creation kit, and maybe the oblivion i cant remember, that in the armor menu, you could choose the mesh as well as the texture. so you could make a new armor, and use a dwarven armor mesh, and then use a different texture. it made adding retextured armors as separate armors very easy. but in the creation kit, it doesnt seem possible. is this really true? is there no way to do this? i of course know how to do this outside of the kit, but it would just be quicker and easier to do it in the kit... so yeah, any thoughts?

im planning on trying out making an armor and weapons mod, using my own created meshes and textures. this is my first time doing anything like this, and im learning how to use blender and how to texture and how to get the stuff in game while doing this. im really excited, and i can tell its going to take forever, but im gonna do it. im gonna have kind of an Alik'r desert themed addon, with clothing and armor for alik'r more desert like, and im going to add Alik'r dark brotherhood equipment as well. ive made one mesh and texture so far, of a dagger. this is the first thing i ever made with blender and first thing i ever textured (i painted it from scratch in GIMP), so if you have any suggestions for making either of those things better, im all ears. ill post pictures here. maybe ill post more concept art too if anyone wants.

it think it looks great! i would add some wings though to balance it vertically. the wings together and pointed up and forward i think, trying to picture in my head lol.

i tried to do the obj. thing, and the mesh was black. but it did work when i did it with .3ds. thanks for that tip! ill check out the tut too. the texture i had didnt show up though even though its in the texture thing in .nif. yes i do have the uv maps figured out, its the collision i cant find. ill keep fiddling!

im trying to figure out how to get a new sword model i made into the game. i am using blender version. 2.6 and GIMP and nifscope. i have a great scimitar mesh in blender, and made a very rudimentary texture for it. i have no clue how to make good textures from scratch, so if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be awesome. google is failing me. so the next step that i cant figure out at all is how to make a collision mesh for it. i cant find out how to do that anywhere, its all for different versions of blender. the next thing i cant find is a plugin for blender 2.6 to export as nif. where do i find that?

id like to request a better sheathing system. i usually like to switch between bows and swords and other weapons quite often, not sticking with just one, whatever fits the situation best. thing is, and this has been bothering the heck out of me since oblivion, when i put my bow away to draw my sword or whatever, my bow dissapears. id like to see a mod that allows for several different sheathes even when that weapon is not equipped. maybe weapons in the quick menu will always show or something. or maybe theres some way to get whatever you equipped to stay even when changing weapons until you equip another weapon that uses the same sheath slot. i also think that this would be more realistic and help with immersion. it would also be really cool to add another sheath and animations for drawing the double weapons. like if you had two war axes, you would have one on each side, along with the animation to draw them. and with the sword, maybe have the second sword just below and to the side of where a greatsword would be. or even have both swords on your back, crisscrossing or something practical. speaking of greatswords, they could use an actual sheath, or something that makes it look like its actually attached to you somehow. sheath placement could get pretty creative too, like daggers in boots or leg, or sideways on the back. can this be done? :D

so earlier (before the 1.2 patch) i had tried out the map tweaks as detailed in map in full 3d (the one that lets you zoom in all the way, the first one made.) i added the map menu settings in SkyrimPrefs.ini as well as Skyrim_Default.ini because at the time i didnt know that when they said Skyrim.ini that Skyrim_default.ini was the same thing. well, for some reason these changes did absolutely nothing. so i naturally deleted them. then came the 1.2 patch, and the game map was suddenly changed just like the changes were supposed to! but the thing is, it really sucks, cant use it indoors and all that. im sure its been talked about here a lot. but i already 'uninstalled' it by deleting the stuff i changed. i even validated with steam once or twice and got them replaced. the map is still screwed up, and i cant untweak my ini! what do i do!??!?

maybe if they just used up stamina? i was thinking just magic and stamina but shouts arent really conventional magic. i just think using all three (with a safety somehow so you cant kill yourself) would make it really interesting. thats just me though. i guess the harder dragons and no cooldown time cheat will have to work for now till some of this gets done!

I think the Dragonplate looks awesome. not ugly at all. especially on nords!. yea the daedric looks hardcore from the front, but its out of character for some and too evil for others. plus, the 3rd person view of daedric for guys is horrible... giant diva shoulder pads and little arms... even on biggest body type what would be best is an armor made from ebony metal and daedra hearts, along with dragonbones and scales. daedra dragonplate armor!

Underground City? Blackreach? oh i'd live there! ive been imagining my own place somewhere in the mountains, full of everything i need, secret passages, then maybe a village eventually. this would be awesome!

I had gotten pretty excited about the whole shouting at dragons thing. Todd Howard described the dragon fights as epic shouting matches. I had envisioned shouting as an epic argument to the death. now, I'm kind of disappointed with how the shouts turned out. they seem more like a gimmick than anything, they don't have any weight. they are very useless compared to some magic spells. Shouts are supposed to give you a unique and great power, thats the point of being the dragonborn, no one else can beat the dragons. Speaking of dragons, arent they just terrifying? the way the fly around and tear apart anything that gets too close- wait, no? they will just sit there and let you cut their little noses till they bleed to death, without using any of the vicious natural weapons at their disposal? thats kind of anticlimactic... not to mention a frost troll would win in a fight... ive often wondered why dragons dont swoop down and grab enemies like crazy. i know they can do it, i saw it in the demo and alduin always does it at helgen to one imperial. and once they are on the ground, even if they are wounded (ie. cant fly anymore) they should be more vicious. they have like 20 tons to work with. but even for when they have just landed and can still fly, why dont they use their claws and head or tail to grab and smack you silly? heck, why dont they just eat you the moment you get too close?!? i think these problems can be fixed with a few tweaks. i dont know what would be possible, but i know some of this is possible and i know someone can at least improve these things tremendously. -get RID of the ridiculously long cooldown time between shouts. dragons can shout as much as they want, they dont have to wait five minutes while cowering behind a rock. unlimited shouts would be silly though, as shouting uses up vital essences (i forget exactly what it was but it was something like that). so instead of waiting between shouts, have the shouts use up equal amounts of magick, health, and stamina, your vital essences. this way, your shouting can get more powerful as you level up, and have a way of being in check. no god mode here. -add new shouts focused on the fighting of dragons. shouting seems like it should be the only viable option for defeating a dragon, at least until its grounded or severely injured. shouts that will block the damage of a dragons fire barrage, or more focused, faster shouts for flying dragons etc. using dragon language like shield and arrow, for instance. shouts to keep it from grabbing you into the air, eating you, etc... maybe some shouts that only work on dragons, just so you dont run around abusing your power on other things that could use an axe to the face. shouting should be balanced and not take over, but its lacking some epic. all in all the changes should not make the overall game too easy. this may be the hardest thing to work out. also, the Dovahkiin MUST be able to use the flamethrower and frost barrages the dragons use. if one thing is changed its that. please. :) -add some of your shouts to dragons. the dragon language is their first language for crying out loud, they know more than one shout. -make combat AI changes to dragons and make them much harder to kill, without shouts especially. maybe go easy on the first one since you dont really have shouts yet. but close quarter combat should not be an option before they are mortally wounded. like i said above, they should be able to fling you across the mountain with a flick of their head. the nose stabbing thing is just silly. you have to shout it to death. -this one is just a bonus but maybe easier to accomplish than some of the others (for animators anyway), more finishing moves! a sword through the back of the throat in a failed attempt at eating you, cutting its legs so it cant stand then finishing it off, get creative! at least make the regular one better, i cant really tell what hes doing up there on the dragons head. maybe just a downward thrust with the sword (link, super smash bros style). would be more effective for a head mounted finishing move. i wrote this out pretty late, so i may have missed some tweaks. but id like to hear from people what they think. would this make the game 10000 times more awesome? more like it should have been? maybe people could add to this? what are suggestions for shouts? what else could be done to make this more epic, and balanced? what about you people who have modding and scripting experience, do you think some of the more complicated stuff is possible? i really dont have the skill to do any of this, but i really want to see this done.
