  1. The way I see it the imageshare, as opposed to the rest of the Nexus, is not a file-sharing site. It's not even an online art gallery, the way deviantART is for example. It's a community. It's a Skyrim (and Oblivion and Fallout and NWN etc) tale-sharing community, a way to divulge one's own vision of the game's world and to participate in other people's ingame experience. It's what some of these games have closer to multiplayer, and sometimes even more than that. Because what lots of people experience isn't simply a kill monster/upgrade hero/move to next level sequence, for many of us it's taking part in a story and sometimes that story doesn't have anything to do with quests. These image galleries are vital to telling these stories. People have spent considerable time and creativity to express their personal visions and give life to their tales - it's one of the main advantages of the Nexus imageshare over other sites, the only way to present this kind of sequential image narrative without having to create your own blog somewhere. What's more, they help reduce spam. If I have 3 interesting takes on the same scene, I don't need to post thrice, I can create a gallery of alternative takes. And last but not least, one can use this feat to promote the work of others. Very few screenarchers make it to the Top Images, which thus results incapable to mirror the best of what the imageshare has to offer. It would be awesome if there was a gallery somewhere of someone's favourite pics so others might consult it, but since there's not the only way to share one's personal preferences is to create a friend/fav/best of thumbnail gallery for everyone to see. And that's three reasons why the image galleries need to stay. Or even encouraged.
  2. Cannot really confirm or deny that story about foxes, but it was fun investigating ;-)
  3. Hey, beautiful. Here, brought you a flower. And was wondering... isn't there something missing in that icon collection up above?
  4. *appears like a religious icon, a cookie in one hand, a box with more cookies in the other, looking ecstatically towards the sky where Schmoops, Mother of All Cookies, irradiates benevolent kindness* Are you the best, or are you the bestest? The debate is still open :)
  5. Happy 2013, Lauren :)

  7. @ Vindekarr: I'm at least two of these guys.
  8. @ DrGrimm: (sorry, not practical with the quoting mechanism) If we're even talking about this it's because it was not a fully nude image to begin with. Many of us believed it was showing nothing inappropriate in the first place, after the self-censorship we all thought there was no problem at all. @ The Vampire Dante: - Ok, can't really comment on what was said in private, though I find it hard to figure the Yagho I know from the imageshare being so unreasonable. - So the thing about boxouts is an unwritten rule, and a new one too - the possibility of not knowing about it is really high (I'm talking to other people right now, no one seems to have heard about it), shouldn't the person interested be warned about it first? Also, since we all saw the image, we are certainly not talking about "a "cheap" way of getting around the very rules on nudity", these were massive tiles blurring everything out. - There's a space for sexually-explicit content, I'm pretty sure there's no imageshare section for masterfully crafted images inspired by classic religious iconography. Not trying to be polemical, just pointing out that views on this specific image are very divided.
  9. Ok, it seems my link to that first discussion doesn't work anymore, so I can't argue on whether he was told to not upload any version of the image. I don't remember it though. Checking the affirmation regarding boxouts and hands. Not that I don't believe you of course, only wanted to see how clear the regulations are. Could someone point me to that part?
  10. So the ban is about the thumbnail? OK. You're technically right. But still it's a 12x20 picture that was still hosted on this very site, not exactly on-your-face-nudity and it linked to a very different image. The original one was not reuploaded. Under the circumstances I hope you'll consider an unban appeal, if he decides to do so.
  11. I would like to discuss the site's decision to ban user Yagho. A few months back, Yagho posted an image titled "The Fall Of Man" depicting an Adam and Eve inspired scene. The screenshot was judged inappropriate for the imageshare and thus removed. Last month Yagho uploaded a heavily edited version of the same image, which caused his account to be banned and his images removed today. This is the text of the announcement: Now, in my opinion, this statement is imprecise: 1. The image was not simply re-uploaded. It was heavily censored by its own creator, so as not to offend anyone's sensibilities. 2. Dark0ne never publicly expressed an opinion on this new version of the image. So, I would really like to know the motivation for this decision. I'm well aware that the site isn't in any way obliged to do so, but the fact that Yagho was not given a warning regarding the imminent ban is also rather puzzling. I'm trying hard not to get into the discussion of the image's intrinsic value (which I find considerable), the incredible craftmanship involved or its popularity (the first version got more than a hundred endorsements), but I'd like to point out that not in any way it was a vulgar or provocative scene. I'm having a really hard time wrapping my head around this situation. A request for moderators and administrators: I know that a lot of people would like to express their opinion on the matter, so I'd be grateful if you kept this thread open long enough for them to intervene (at least a few days). Also, I'd like to ask permission to link to the images in question from an external site, so we all know what we're talking about.
