Cool! I might have to start playing with modding DAI again. -
Female Complexion - Frosty or DAIMM
roberts2432 replied to Katarsi's topic in Dragon Age: Inquisition's Mod Ideas
I'm not sure if modding with frosty makes a difference or not--I haven't made the switch yet--but it used to be that if you messed with the s maps (the ones that deal with shininess), the mod would not work with the DLCs. -
This is the tutorial I used when I was first starting out. Also

Mods not appearing in Mod Manager
roberts2432 replied to ChaosGenie1's topic in Dragon Age: Inquisition's Troubleshooting
7-zip is free so when your winzip trial runs out I would recommend downloading 7-zip. To extract files from 7-zip, all you have to do to is open the zipped file, select the contents and drag them directly into your mod folder. -
When I try to start up Dai Tools Suite: Mod Manager it gives me an error ("An error occurred while getting the project list."). I tried re-downloading the tools from the 2015 version that's posted here on the nexus, but same deal. I used to be able to open it just fine, but its been a few months since I've used it. I've tried googling, but there isn't a whole lot of info out there. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Sera Body for Female Elf Inquisitor?
roberts2432 replied to deSairys's topic in Dragon Age: Inquisition's Mod Ideas
You've looked at the Sera body for EF in this mod? https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/605?tab=files -
Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the game? That's what I would try first and if that doesn't work I would delete the troublesome folder and repair the game. Delete 'Patch_ModManagerMerge' folder at 'D:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\' and try repairing from Origin.

I don't know what program you're using, but I use blender and sometimes I would get that with certain hair meshes that I hadn't even edited yet. To troubleshoot I would try to import the vanilla exported hair mesh (before you edited it) and see if you get the same error. If so, I have no idea how to fix it. Let me know if you discover how. Sometimes when I got that error though it had to do with the export settings. You might browse around and see what you can find on other people's export settings. Through trial and error I figured out on Blender you have to tick "Selection Only" "Include Normals" "Include UVs" "Triangulate Faces" "Objects as OBJ Objects" and make sure the only object selected is the 0(ultra) hair mesh when you export.

Working in Blender vs. 3DSmax
roberts2432 replied to Nevlaithiel's topic in Dragon Age: Inquisition's Troubleshooting
If you're talking about moving individual pieces, yes, there is a wonderful function. It's at the bottom of the screen on the toolbar below the view window. There are a few drop down menus. You're going to want to click on the tiny grey circle that's titled "proportionally editing" when you pull up the menu. Select the tiny blue donut that says "connected". You can now pull individual mesh pieces any which way by selecting one or multiple vertices or faces or edges. To make the pulling radius smaller you just click and hold while you scroll in and out with the center mouse wheely dealy. It may take a lot of scrolling in at first to get the radius small enough to work with. This will allow you to mould the mesh A LOT easier. One more tip when using blender: When you export, you're going to want to select the mesh you're replacing then go to export-->object. In the bottom right hand of the screen there will be a list of export settings. ONLY select "Selection Only, Apply Modifiers, Write Normals, Include UVs, and Objects as OBJ Objects". Everything else should BE un-selected. Don't ask me why, but I did a long and painful trial and error of this to get it to work and these settings did the trick. Happy modding! -

How to swap skintints
roberts2432 replied to roberts2432's topic in Dragon Age: Inquisition's Discussion
Thank you! I'm trying it out now. I don't have a whole lot of experience with photo editing software. I'm using Paint.net which is great, but you have to download a bunch of plugins. I still haven't quite been able to get it to work as I'm not sure what you mean by swapping the red and blue channels, but I'll do some research. Unless someone wants to fill me in or give me a link?
