  1. Oh no you didn't, don't you be dissing my Breezehome! There are multiple cities in which you can become Thane and get a Housecarl, not just Whiterun. Sorry, I'm just not a fan. I'm waiting til I can afford something a little more luxurious :P Really, where? I don't tend to bother with doing that many quests in cities, and I'm thane of some tiny village (the one with the mines, I think) but no housecarl. Are the other housecarls better than that stupid Lydia chick?
  2. I still get the achievements, and I've cheated a couple times?
  3. Another easy one is the woman inside the bannered mare (name begins with U, I forgot) who just wants to brawl with you.
  4. Since I heard it was relatively easy to add NPCs to the marry-able list, it probably wouldn't be that hard to mod a character with some better dialogue. I'd do it, but I'm really not up for voice acting :P
  5. Yeah, I had this problem too, with dead Housecarl turning up at my wedding. I just kept reloading an autosave, and trying again and again. After like 4 attempts I got Lydia to not turn up about my wedding. About the vampire thing, though, I don't know. I haven't played as a vampire yet.
  6. complete the quests for the Jarl, and you get to purchase your own house and a guard to go with it if you become a Tharl, your Housecarl will escort you when requested, will fight n die for you if need be and can also help in carrying your spoils of the mission, just be wary about being between the target and the Housecarl, they dont seem to care who they hit lol Isn't that only for Whiterun? Which IMO has the worst house. Even with all the furniture it looks really trashy :/
  7. Well, you know.. Skyrim takes place 200 years after Oblivion, so it's not unreasonable for a massive war to have taken place.
  8. Having this problem too. The guard is ALWAYS there, and impossible to sneak around :/
  9. So I'm doing the Unite Skyrim series of quests or whatever they've called, and I've finished the first series (the pale) and I've got to the series for the rift. However, this first one has me stumped. "Find evidence the Jarl's steward is involved with the thieves guild" or words to that effect, and I have quest arrows on so I can tell where it is. But there is always a guard there, day or night, who gets a weapon out and tells me I'm trespassing. I have no idea what to do. Anyone done this?
  10. I think he's said elsewhere that they've taken the best features from Morrowind as well as Oblivion :)
  11. I wish I could buy the Collector's Edition. Because of it being more expensive in the UK and because I'm still at school, I can't even afford to pre-order the normal edition yet. The statue has a small amount of value to me, but it's over priced (I bought 3 high quality, if small KOTOR figurines off of ebay for about £15 including shipping from the US) - what I'd really like is the art book, but like I said, I can't afford it. If it was the same price as the US one, I would definitely buy it, no question.
  12. Oblivion is now crashing immediately whenever I load my most recent save within Newlands Lodge, Cheydinhal. My computer being temperamental at best, I think I'll just start a new game. Thanks for the help anyway :)
  13. I would do that, if it weren't for the fact that when I started the game I went from an autosave as the game had crashed the last time I played. :/
  14. I was going to put this in technical problems, but since it is largely my fault, I thought I'd put it here. I was using Real Sleep v1.4 (http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3816) and then I stopped using it, because I'm generally a terrible roleplayer. I *thought* that I didn't need sleep when I unticked it in OBMM but I'm pretty sure I was wrong as I loaded up the game and, admittedly I didn't check them immediately, once I'd been playing for about an hour I noticed that all of my stats were decreased. I had also picked up a disease, so I went to the chapel to get a cure and my stats didn't change. At this point I thought.. oh, Real Sleep. Duh. Is there any way to fix my stats? Because I looked at the comments on real sleep and from the look of it, I can't just re-enable Real Sleep and then sleep it off, as it were. It doesn't work like that. (Alternatively, could there be any other reason my stats are drained? Like I said, I went to the chapel and it said my afflictions were banished etc.) Thanks, E.
  15. We have a deal in my family that based on summer exam results the first year exam results actually matter (ie, this year) we get a sum of money to spend purely on a computer. If we choose not to buy a computer, we don't get any money. I was going to buy a shiny new laptop, but purely because of the release of skyrim I've decided to buy a gaming computer. I have no idea what specs it'll be, or even where to start xD but it'll be 7 or XP, though I far prefer ubuntu (but obviously not for gaming) Any advice for someone new to the computer buying world? One of the rules is we have to buy parts individually and put it together ourselves (I have two older brothers who worked in a computer shop, it goes with the territory.)
