  1. All the Special Edition does is give the game A LOT more potential to look and play amazing as time goes by. I don't understand why many people don't seem to understand this. It's in the hands of the modders to make this version great. I would like to think that most modders are smart enough, or informed enough to realize the vast difference in what can be done with a 64 bit Skyrim vs 32bit. To anyone defending the original Skyrim - maybe take the rose tinted glasses off. A base, unmodded Skyrim isn't nearly as good looking as this remaster, even with some design choices that I agree are questionable. Modders can change these things. .ini tweaks can change these things. This version has massively more potential than the original, and let's not forget how big a pita Skyrim is to work with. Mods to make mods work, mods to make the game work better etc. Many of these mods are due to limitations due to the game running on a 32bit engine. I think it's time to set aside the bias that comes from tinkering with something for so long and accept a new platform that is vastly superior.
  2. The performance seems very good. All settings maxed and sitting at 60fps most of the time at 1440p. The shadows are much better and the volumetric lighting is really nice. I am probably going to wait until the basic texture mods for the world come out, as well as the lighting mods, sound mods, and Perk mods. The good thing is the potential is there. The base is really wide compared to the original Skyrim so there is a lot to build from. I could see easily handling all my modding needs with 30 or less mods once they are all out and stable. Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later. I've been spoiled by the modders. All I see is potential, but the things that bug me most atm are the inferior indoor lighting, the overly bright nights, and the sounds. Hopefully modders will really embrace this because the potential is amazing. People could still be playing this game 5 years from now and imagine what that would look like with advancing pc hardware!
