  1. If it does not get goty, I would be shocked. L.A. Noire.......... What is that?
  2. Something similar happened to me and it turned out I had to fix it on the t.v. itself and not the nvidia control panel. Somebody changed something with the remote on accident. Have you tried that? Back to the op I got a new monitor, and not only does it look better than the 40" it is much, much easier on the eyes. Problem solved.
  3. I don't know if this will be a issue because I have never tried. Will I have any problems installing Skyrim to a separate ssd that does not have my steam folder on it? (Will it give me a option where I want the game installed?)
  4. Pete Hines says he is right (I believe him) - 12:01 whatever your timezone is: https://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon/status/131323857981284353 https://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon/status/131323657610997760 Praise be Akatosh and all the divines!
  5. Found this article. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/322366/skyrim-can-be-finished-in-two-hours/?attr=CVG-General-RSS&cid=OTC-RSS I know this game will be a 500+ hr title for me. What could you possibly do to get through the main quest so quick? Of course they were Bethesda people so they know all the tricks. Did anyone ever speed run through the main quest in Oblivion. What was your best time?
  6. I also read the rage thread and all I can say is that I hope Pete is right. It would be rather lame to go to a pre-launch party and then have to wait after you get your copy to unlock it. I would love to go home install it and venture forth on my quest! If I do have to wait, I guess I can just pet my Alduin statue and look at the purty pictures in the book for a few hours.
  7. Alright I think we got it figured out. It wasn't just me, I did a test with a few other people and it hurt their eyes too. Certain games are worse than others and oblivion is one of the ones that is bad. I went to the doctor even though I'm up to date on my prescription, he said my eyes were perfectly healthy and everything was okay. He said it sounded like a focusing issue. I went home and tried a few other things and still had problems, so I turned it back to 1920x1080p. Out of sheer exasperation I got about three feet away and I was fine? It makes sense now because when I used to played on a old 32" I sat only a few feet away. Of course that was a old tube tv and not hd. I feel silly sitting that close to a huge screen so I went ahead and got a 23" Asus monitor and I hope that fixes all the issues  . I think it depends on the person really so if you ever get eyestrain try different things there are very mixed answers online about viewing distance and eye health.
  8. Alright this may not seem very Skyrim related but to me, it very much is. For me Skyrim is it! I have waited for the next TES like everyone else for years. So obviously when it comes out I will be spending countless hours in front of the screen. I have slowly been upgrading components and tweaking my system for the upcoming release. I got my pc to where I wanted it and hooked it up to a 40" Samsung 1080p t.v. Awesome right? At first I thought so but now I'm not so sure. I had played the 360 a lot on the t.v. with no issues but as I have been playing Oblivion on the pc at 1920x1080p...To my horror my eyes feel like they are being stabbed by ice picks and they bother me constantly. So I set out on the quest for knowledge why this was happening and I believe I have gotten close but I'm still not positive. At first I spent countless hours tweaking the options on the t.v. Backlight, contrast, sharpness ect. It helped none. I hung a light behind the t.v. and it didn't help. I also sit far enough away from the screen so I know I'm not sitting to close we measured the distance to be sure. (My prescription is up to date too so don't say go see the doctor please) I kept researching more and discovered (or I believe I have discovered the culprit) I turned down the resolution and my eyes felt better almost instantly but it still bothers me to look at the screen. I think it is a combination of 60hz refresh rate and the resolution combined causing me issues. So I watched the skyrim trailer in hd with a lower resolution and it does not look near as good  How am I going to play skyrim in all it's full hd glory and not fry my eyes? Will getting a actual monitor that is 1080p with a faster refresh rate help you think? If so I would still like a decent size screen 24" to 27" would probably get it. I'm worried about the screen size and it still hurting my eyes though. I don't want to get a 27" and it still be unplayable. I have been looking at the asus 2ms screens. I would think that my larger tv is 5ms to 7ms which is said to not be the best for gaming anyways. On my 40" mmorpg's are unplayable in most cases because at the highest resolution the text is painfully small. So if I get a smaller screen I know I'll be sitting closer too. :psyduck: Right now I hooked up the smaller monitor again 17" 1280x1024 75hz and it is much better. Any advice would be completely appreciated and may be I can save someone else the same mistake.
  9. Hey would you mind posting that video in the other thread: Epic TES Music Done!

  11. Here you go  . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWxniNdpShU&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yb39kPJShXw&feature=related
  12. Glad I'm not the only one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PW09lbR4OmM&feature=related I prefer Morrowind theme myself  although Skyrim's song is just Morrowind redone the original seems more mystical.
  13. I just scored a 32gb ssd for 34$ just for Skyrim, So that's close to a $ a gb  . Well I ordered mounting brackets for a few dollars too because I don't like anything sliding around my case but that was optional.
  14. Yes sirs  I have a 96 GB SSD that I use for my OS and main programs (no games) I have it about 42% full right now and am debating whether or not to install Skyrim on it myself. I would guesstimate that the game and mods will take at least 20 GB of space if not more, so you should be fine if that's the only thing on it... as long as it is a TRIM capable OS and SSD you should be ok as long as it stays under 85-90% capacity. :) I ordered a 32 gb ssd solely for Skyrim and a Black Caviar for OS and everything else my 2tb 5400 rpm will just be for extra storage now. So I hope that 32gb will get it and I wouldn't see why not but then you never know especially when mods start rolling out. I'm running windows 7 home 64bit so I think I'll have any problems out of the ssd. I did a lot of research on this and there are a lot of different opinions about ssd's, raptors, raid configurations and the like. My HD was a huge oversight in the creation of my pc and I never had researched about speed and performance and it's prolly been bottlenecking me a bit, eh oh well live and learn. I think I made the right choice and I think Skyrim will deserve it's own ssd. This is the last upgrade I'll be making.... I hope.
  15. game is supposed to be released in a month and a day its about time they got their [censored] together and published some official specs I totally agree! People need time to do upgrades if they feel they need to. I want to know how many gb it's going to be so I have healthy breathing room for mods. I had to order blindly last night and hope that I did the right thing.
  16. This time next month I'll be bouncing off the walls because it's pre-release night  .
  17. No one knows the official specs and I would say that these are not accurate. I would wait a few more weeks for the official specs to be released. Now a question :whistling: . Everyone think 32gb be enough room for Skyrim and mods? I would say the game would be around 10gb to 16gb so that would leave me with 22gb to 16gb for mods. May seem silly but Oblivion was only 4gb and if memory serves me correctly the oblivion folder became quite large by the time I was done adding mods.
  18. My RPG phases last quite awhile then I'll hit a shooter for a few months. If you get burned out quick then I would pick up a shooter to last you till Skyrim. Rage just came out and it looks pretty good. Me? I've been dealing with with life, making tweaks to my PC to get ready, and talking to the fine people of this forum. I've also been playing a few rpgs when I have time. Helps some but still it will be a long few weeks
  19. http://scrapetv.com/News/News%20Pages/Business/images-2/tumbleweed-through-ghost-town.jpg Sorry I jest....rofl..
  20. Not worried about my computer running Skyrim at all but one thing in my computer building I never payed much attention was hd speed. I use a 5400rpm 2tb drive as my main drive. I have three or four more internals tucked away inside that I never even use. I have no idea what speed they are. Does it make that much of a difference? The only game that takes awhile to load is the first witcher right when you first start.Other than that I don't even pay attention to loading time. I did some research and they said the 7200 rpm really doesn't make much difference. This ssd business sounds interesting though is this something I should look into? If so what size should I pick up, it will be just for my new shiny copy of Skyrim of course, after mods I was thinking 20 or 30 gb....Then again I hear loading screens on skyrim are interactive :psyduck: ........
  21. Oh yeah........It gives me heart palpitations. I remember being super excited for Oblivion and staring at the screen-shots for hours. It's much much worse this time. It was better for awhile but this week has been hard. I'm trying to finish things up with a few other rpgs but even though I am enjoying them (and they are very nice) there are times when it just feels like a cheap foreshadowing of what is to come.
  22. I've never made my own mod before, Should I start tinkering with fallout and oblivion or should I wait till Skyrim is out? I'm guessing it will be a totally new creature as far as how things work?
