  1. Yeah, that's really weird. Maybe your hard drive was full and files were getting deleted for space? As far as the "clown face", maybe that was some missing textures? Idk. Anywho, get that straightened out and then run ReSaver. Deleting a bunch of mods does you no good at all if you didn't clean.
  2. Sorry to hear it Raverdan. There's a lot to unpack there. First of all, you can't get vanilla Skyrim to run at all? On a brand new launch? If that's the case you are looking at a whole different beast than this bug.
  3. Since it has been a while since we last posted the fixes, here they are for posterity's sake. Anyone know of a way that I can put these fixes at the start of the thread? The first fix is listed in post #28 and repeated throughout. Here's Post #28: The second fix is found in post #204: I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to use both fixes in conjunction with each other. I would try the second one first, as it is less invasive to your save. Some other posts that involve potentially helpful information for wrapping your brain around the issue include #98, #103, #104, #114, #130, #140, #199-#204, and #208.
  4. Let me know if this works. Your fix is highly specific to your situation, so if it doesn't, let me know if you need help with our two general fixes.
  5. I am also not experienced at papyrus logs, but if you follow our fixes here we might be able to help you. I need two things from you before we continue: 1. Have you tried ReSaver? Did you have any unattached instances or undefined elements? Those might point you to the problem. 2. If so, have you tried engine fixes? Between these two people have by and large been reporting success.
  6. Hi andonemaniac. We do have two fixes on this blog that between them seem to work for most people. It worked for me. Have you tried both? What did ReSaver say?
  7. Great! Let me know if it starts crashing and we can look into it further.
  8. Wait... so your game isn't crashing, you are just concerned about those stacks and frames? I'm not an expert, but I imagine that the csvictimquestscript occurs anytime you move in Windhelm at all, so that might just be normal. You don't accept this quest to begin it, it just launched right away. This would be the first time I've seen this crash coming from just vanilla Skyrim, normally it is associated with mods.
  9. m5holmez we've seen it both from bad mods and mod combinations just being too much for the engine. And time-wise this can take a really long time to manifest, for me it was over 100 hours until it manifested. And bladeshriek is right that the safest way to play is with your modlist frozen from the start, because if you mess with the original load order at all (which depending on the mods will be necessary) the game doesn't like mods that were in one spot in the load order that got moved to another. That being said, I've added mods to the the save I started back in 2017, and it's still going strong, so you can make it work as long as you keep an eye on it.
  10. Werty212121, when you cleaned the saves did you notice a particular mod causing trouble?
  11. That sounds like a bad mod bug. Check the Wyrmstooth page, or just don't do that mod.
  12. Thanks Grayald. That is WAY too early to be experiencing this bug, so you've got too many script-heavy mods going on (is my guess). When you cleaned did you have any unattached scripts etc? That might help you narrow down which mods are being problematic. Thanks for the reply. I did. It returned about 400 orphaned scripts and 200 undefined elements, which I cleaned. Here's a repost from a topic I did on Reddit. ----- Had an issue pop up recently, and it seems it's not a new one, nor a unique one. Problem: At around level 14, saving started to take a long time. At first, it was a few seconds, but eventually, it got to be 8 seconds per save. Then suddenly the game would close out after the pause. No error message or anything pops up. At this time, the size of my save files as about 6 MB. Things I've tried from googling: Deleted excess save files and disabled autosave to keep the folder cleaner.Loading, then loading the same save again.Killing myself. (lol this line triggered reddits suicide bot to post in my topic)Getting rid of a few mods.Ran LOOT, and made sure to clean dirty plugins and install any patches it told me to.Cleaned orphaned scripts and undefined elements with Resaver.Setting SaveGameMaxSize = true in EngineFixes.toml.Setting MemoryManager = true in EngineFixes.toml. Only the last 2 got me any progress. Yesterday, I did the SaveGameMaxSize = true, which cut down on the pause when saving and stopped the CTD. Until earlier today, when the problem returned. Then I did the MemoryManager thing, and it stopped CTD on save, though saves still have a good 6 sec pause or so. It's something, but I am under no illusion that the problem is truly solved and will not happen again. At present, the size of my save files is up to 8 MB. This is what the save folder currently looks like: Quicksave0_00000000_0_4B6173696D6972_WhiterunWorld_002203_20200806022526_19_1.ess 7.91 MB (8,298,330 bytes)Quicksave0_00000000_0_4B6173696D6972_WhiterunWorld_002203_20200806022526_19_1.skse 27.9 KB (28,669 bytes)Save37_00000000_0_4B6173696D6972_WhiterunWorld_002201_20200805231955_19_1.ess.tmp 0 bytes (wtf?)Save37_00000000_0_4B6173696D6972_WhiterunWorld_002202_20200806022452_19_1.ess 7.90 MB (8,288,518 bytes)Save37_00000000_0_4B6173696D6972_WhiterunWorld_002202_20200806022452_19_1.skse 27.9 KB (28,669 bytes) Any help would be much appreciated. Here is my mod list: https://modwat.ch/u/Grayald ----- Definitely feels like something is slowly building on itself over time until it becomes unmanageable for the engine. ----- EDIT: This next block of text is just rambling speculation on my part, so feel free to laugh at it if it seems stupid. I don't know much about scripts, and I don't know if this is related, but it made me suspicious. I ran Resaver again just to have a look and see if I could spot anything obvious. I noticed a folder named Active Scripts, which according to the number aside it, contains 116874 active scripts. Now, I don't know if that's a lot, but it sounded like it, so I thought I'd mention it. I looked inside and it looks like there are thousands of duplicate folders each containing 4 "frames", whatever that is. Every single one appears to be tied to the mod LC Citadel, specifically falmer horde quest scripts, which I assume is the introductory quest, which has you decending into the crypts where groups of 10 or so falmer spawn in at different points, and you have to clear them all out. I completed the quest without issue, but when I talked to the NPC to start it, I accidentally initiated the quest twice. Maybe related? I dunno. This is what it looks like, repeated thousands of times: https://i.imgur.com/vN1AZqG.png EDIT 2: Wow yeah those scripts were definitely causing issues. I went in and deleted all of them, and anything else I found tied to them that I felt comfortable deleting, and saving is now instantaneous with no crashes. Will do some further testing to see how thorough this fix is. Excellent! Yes, in addition to cleaning you may also have to delete the mod (I know, cardinal sin), but it sound like you are on the right track. I started feeling comfortable after about 30 hours of play, so I would probably check with Resaver each time you are done until you get to the point to make sure that it isn't popping up again.
  13. T Thanks Grayald. That is WAY too early to be experiencing this bug, so you've got too many script-heavy mods going on (is my guess). When you cleaned did you have any unattached scripts etc? That might help you narrow down which mods are being problematic.
