I don't use adblocker and am the most basic casual member. What I have noticed is that there are a lot of nexus adverts which play sound etc, which is a little irritating. I'm a casual member, but have downloaded a lot, so after reading this I will ensure I don't get adblocker so I will support this site/community as best I can currently with my income as it is - i.e. I'm poor. I thought this news report was well written with a well thought out idea of tiered membership which doesnt penalise people in any way, and is good incentive to get more supporters & premium members without it being a pay-wall website. Good ideas. However, if everyone got the cheapest supporter option and never saw ads again, your site would be in trouble! Likely this won't happen, though. Thanks for your open-ness and the great website.

remove green things from iron sights
arrrrrrrrr replied to arrrrrrrrr's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Thanks, I understand much better now. I don't like how it looks whether glowing or plain green, seems a bit too modern to me especially on the hunting rifle. I understand how glow maps work and I could attempt to remove them by hand, although it gets complicated by the base files being in the bsa's, so I expect the easiest option is to simply use the WRP mod, which as shown in the screenshot I posted changes the paint on iron sights from green to white, which I find much more acceptable. Thanks to everyone for answering my query, trivial as it might be. And thank you for trying to be helpful, Etheron, although your informatipn seemed a little wrong regarding vanilla new vegas -
remove green things from iron sights
arrrrrrrrr replied to arrrrrrrrr's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
I thought the glow sights came as standard, on many guns. Also as I was aware weapon mods don't need a workbench to apply and take off? (although, I think they logically should). Maybe it's like some mods which add weapon mods via the workbench? but already comes like that. I don't know. I will check in-game, although right now I'm doing more mod research than actual playing. I have found a picture but i't's not 100% helpful due to it being from the retexture project mod - http://i1-games.softpedia-static.com/screenshots/Fallout-New-Vegas-Mod-45-Pistol-Retexture_2.jpg On the sights in the pic, the little dots are white which is much more acceptable to me than green, so I guess this does answer my issue -
remove green things from iron sights
arrrrrrrrr replied to arrrrrrrrr's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
I didn't know what they're called, yes the green glowing paint on the iron sights. I do understand they are helpful to see in the dark, I just personally dislike them. I did try searching for fiber optics, remove, and various other terms just now, but without any luck. Well thanks for giving me the correct terminology! -
Fallout: The Frontier, First look and Teaser

OOPS, I JUST CAME -
A good way of installing new mods is to do them in small groups of a couple or say max 5-6 at a time (although it depends on what type of mods; simpler ones likely have less compatibility issues and you can be fairly certain they will all work (together) ), and then load up the game each time to ensure they work. For example, load up the nosco and all dependent mods like jasmine, start the game, if it works then great, exit, load more mods, repeat. This way when you have a problem it's much easier to isolate the specific mod which is causing it (or is incompatible with others). As far as I know, there isn't an error log file which you can check to see why the game crashes, so a good rule of thumb is installing in small batches. Although, you can still mess up by accidentlly unclicking a master file such as dlc, which then crashes the game on startup if other mods are dependent on it. I did this lol and only realised where I'd messed up after I'd uninstalled everything and reinstalled the game

I quite dislike the luminous green paint on the iron sights - does anyone happen to know of a mod which removes these? I have no idea where to start searching for that, what terms etc. I suspect that to remove them may conflict with other mods, however I'd like to if it is possible. So does anyone know of a mod which performs this function? Thanks in advance, and p.s. I do not care if most modern weapons have those green things on - for me I find them ugly and intrusive to my experience. And besides, it's possible the fallout universe never developed that technique.

Well there is no need to disparage someone's knowledge of 'real guns'. For a start new vegas is not about the modern era, no guns had those sights 50 years ago and the Fallout universe split from ours in late 40s/50s . I find they detract from my experience of the game. They look ugly, out of place, and I don't want them. I don't care about the supposed real guns or modern guns, especially not in FNV

NCR Ranger Patrol helmets.
arrrrrrrrr replied to AngrypastySOB's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
I agree they need a helmet and the last 3 possibilities are great. this must be done? -
thanks for replying. I re-read and saw what you had said about dividing up the damage, realised I was asking something you already said you had implemented in part - unequipping. and I've since realised they didn't put a hose in because they couldnt do it, so modders can't either. I think. I'd be happy to test it out if you made something for the shishkebab. alone or with the ballistic change you made.

Having read about the ballistic fist, upon finding it in game I too was disappointed to find it didn't 'use' ammunition when it fired. I know it seems crazy to want a mod which adds a cost where there was none before, for no benefit, but I'd also be interested in something like this. would it be possible to have it act like a normal power fist or not properly function if you don't have ammo, or is that running into hard coded difficulties and needless complexity. [edit] and similarly I'd love a mod to add to the shishkebab, both it using fuel of some kind and adding a hose between tank and sword.
