  1. This was actually the issue. Searches brought me to the rev.2 boards bios I think, which is on a lower revision number and matched my bios. Thanks for the help guys, hoping and praying this solves the problem officially and I didn't just get lucky on my stress tests. =3
  2. Devil May Cry 1, 2, 3, 4, and DMC Tomba! (cause even if 2 games isn't a series, I wanted it to be...) Crash Bandicoot as of the PS2 era Phantasy Star (as of PSPortable 2) And Mother 1,2, and 3 Legend of Zelda would be awesome to do... that'd be one grand scale marathon though.
  3. fair, only a worry about it really. just cause everything looks fine from the outside in. I'm looking into bios settings and such, thanks for the suggestion. Gonna work on that tomorrow. That might help...
  4. You think it could be the case? I'm kinda hoping something else might be the cause... I mean, that's last resort in my mind. I'd rather have to buy new ram or something... (saw one person who changed ram and it fixed it.)
  5. Just got back to working on things, did a full system reformat last night. Booted up skyrim, BSOD'd seconds into a new game fresh install. Archeblade booted and seemed to run fine, but it also BSOD'd yesterday before the reformat after a couple hours, so it'd take too long for me to see if it did today. Gonna look into those as well as if I can find the kmode exception today. You'd think $460 worth of hardware would NOT explode in my face upon install... =.= Anyone have any suspicions of a bootsector virus? just cause I know full reformats don't take care of those... I have a bios flasher button on my motherboard, but I'm saving that for last... really rather not delve into territory I've only heard in passing once or twice..
  6. 800W Psu, I got plenty of wiggle room. As for the bios update, I checked and it seems up to date, I'll poke around for some other possibilities on that. Some things I've seen suggested registry errors, viruses, etc. currently looking at a full reformat, since it seems to be happening with any games. some games just take longer for it to happen, but it has happened on the desktop.
  7. Hey guys, I just upgraded my CPU to run skyrim better. (I'm a little late on the PC version) I moved up to an amd fx-8350 from my old phenom II and now I've had skyrim Blue screen my comp 3 times. I checked the logs as to what happened and it seems that I had a bugcheck error... 14068 if my memory serves me well. I BSOD'd when loading whiterun from the bannered mare, in solitude when I was testing if it'd happen again so I spawned 20 skeletons and mid combat got the BSOD, then in riverwood when fighting the 2 wolves that attack you before town when starting a new save. The game doesn't seem to be running any better than it was. (same frame rate jumps and dives, same hangups on things) I can get more info from the logs, but to me the codes are just strings of numbers and letters and don't really correspond to anything, so if you think posting something would help, lemme know and I'll find it. System specs Asrock 970 extreme 3 motherboard AMD Fx - 8350 4.0 Ghz 8 core processor 8 gigs Ram Nvidia GTX 960 Graphics card Graphics card installed 2 weeks ago, new CPU installed this morning Thanks in advance for any help. Updated info: I ran WhoCrashed before I posted this, but was on another computer at the time. this was the result of one of those 3 crashes. This processor must hate skyrim or something, I decided to do a full fresh install of the game and it BSOD'd again during the download. This resulted when I went to set up netflix while I waited.
  8. hmm, what should I aim for? if I'm running at 3.0Ghz now?
  9. Hey there, I'm pretty new to modding, but I'm catching on real quick thanks to the guides and taking to this learning curve pretty well... but I'm running into some issues. I recently upgraded my graphics card to a nvidia gtx 960 4gb (high ranking card as per the list on newegg.com iirc, came in 21'st on the list.) Skyrim slapped me in to ultra settings and I noticed without a limiter I'd hit 300+ fps on the title screen. (this made me squee and cry at the same time, since I knew I now would need to slap a limiter on) Well, once I got the game loaded, I noticed I'd stutter a lot... Mostly moving from cell to cell, but my fps wasn't registering massive drops cause they were only in short bursts. I upgraded to the enhanced flora mod, 2k textures, and the saraan su'um enb + elfx. no real change in the stutter, a bit of one when loading new objects, but that doesn't seem any more than prior to adding. I've tried the memory fix by sheson... didn't even come CLOSE to using too much according to the memory block log. I have enboost set up and have the d3d9 set up to run a proxy. (followed the instructions to a T) I'm fairly certain the GPU can handle anything I throw at it with this game.. my friend was playing on high with a nvidia gts 260 (512mb) so... 4gb on a better GPU should produce exponentially better performance, as said, the game slapped me into ultra to begin with. What I'm really getting at here is what do I need to do to get this game running smooth like the beautified videos I've seen... I know my CPU is old, I know I'm running a "low" amount of ram for what I wanna do... but I'm kinda at a loss here. I like to think I know hardware decently well, but it seems that a lot of games I like to play need a lot more than recommended to play top quality... my specs and limitations: Asrock 970 extreme 3 with turbo UCC (MB) AMD Phenom II x3 740 black edition (unlocked to x4 40 with turbo UCC) (CPU) Nvidia GTX 960 4gb (GPU) 8gb DDR3 (Ram) 2 sticks, 2 slots left 850Watt power supply The motherboard is stuck, I'm not upgrading that, it's just more hassle than I feel it's worth... money IS a limit here... I've got all the DLC, HD patches, and the unofficial legendary patch Only the HD patches are new to the active list ELFX core Flora Overhaul 2k Textures Saraan Su'um ENB That's what I added after play testing my new card a bit to see what I'd get out of it. All other mods were working with my old card same as my friend's (Nvidia gts 260 512mb) and I had managed to fix the stuttering, mostly, with occasional stutters on high speed stress tests on low settings. (no hd patches, but with hdt physics mods applied.) (Currently fluxuating between 25-59 fps, capped at 58 via Nvidia Inspector) Memory block logs show no more than 212 usage in the first block when stress testing in a high flora environment at around 10x player speed crossing cell borders. ~32 on loading screens, and between 0 - ~14 when actually loading up an area. (new mods don't seem to have had more than ~ -5 fps effect on my rig, but have made loading scenes a bit longer, which I can deal with.) I checked and cleaned my files with LOOT and Tes5edit. (following the tutorial I found about how to do this to the letter) I have one seemingly common issue that I can't really seem to find anyone in my shoes with, but that shouldn't effect the stutter or lag... (in case it matters, for some reason even when the game was 100% vanilla I'd CTD going to Vamp/WW perk tree... just completely died out when I tried.) Sorry bout the wall of text and diversions... Aside from the MB and GPU, what would I need to upgrade to run smoothly on ultra or at least high? and how much impact would the upgrades likely have?
