  1. do you use any mods like unique landscapes? if so, can i see your load order please? what does the ctd error message say? when exactly does it occur? do you have special settings in your oblivion.ini? if so, may i see them?
  2. no, but a very similar guide pinned in the forum, which covers about the same attempts
  3. hi guys, my friend is trying to play fallout 3 on a low end machine (but its playable). the thing is that after walking around a bit she gets a ctd. what we tried so far was: - edit the FalloutPrefs.ini (also for performance) which is quite fair, but still ctd - edit the load order with BOSS, no real result - we monitored ram usage, it was not the problem - latest patch was installed as well (with all dlc) - tried to deactivate all codecs - tried 2 anti ctd mods from nexus, didnt help either - tried bUseThreadedAI=1; iNumHWThreads=2 no result im out of ideas ... what else could cause this? am i missing something?
  4. hey im not sure, but i had a similar problem with oblivion. the problem were activated codecs. there is a tool to disable all codecs, maybe it helps you? http://www.download3k.de/Install-MMCompView.html good luck
  5. yeah. indeed, the percentage was "only" at 50%, and the messageBox said this action would only have an effect if it reaches 100%. it still fixed it, though :)
  6. final solution: i just found out that wrye bash is also able to "fix" the abomb. tried it on my savegame - and guess what, it works like a charm. where OAF failed ...
  7. now with the permanent appcrash ... i post this only because it might help others: i continued using an older savegame (10 minutes of gameplay before the last save) and now everything seems to work fine (EXCEPT for the stuck animations). conclusion: sometimes its simply the savegame that seems to be corrupted ... (will post if i find further results.)
  8. ok i have tried many times but it didnt work out. now i the game didnt only freeze i had permanently appcrash. i think its a problem with enhanced music control (i had this problem before, but it was solved by disabled very codec that is possible to be disabled). now that i disabeld ehanced music control.esm (blade of the haunted.esp was a child and yes i had the compatibility version) the game is working again, plus the correct animations, i dont konw if OAF helped on this or not. just too bad about not being able to use esm yet again ...... thx for the help though u guys.
  9. i used proper savegames only (.ess). but i will try now any type of savegame, maybe it helps. i will report back
  10. i have tried both versions, but i always have the same problem when loading the "fixed" savegame, that the game freezes after 1 - 2 sec. (but i was able to see the fire that was not properly animated before, was properly animated again, before the complete game was frozen). am i missing something? is this a bug? like i said with both versions the same result :/
  11. hello, i have been using the mod "improved fires and flames" for a long time. but only recently i noticed (but im sure it didnt appear this way before) some fires like the fires in bows etc. are not really burning properly, they are just like an image, or some change once every sec, or every slowly, so its not a really smooth burning. then again its weird because sometimes when i walk closer to the fire or turn around it, it starts / stops the burning animation again. i have checked, and my version of improved fires and flames is still up to date. please, has anyone ideas about this? if u need more info let me know. edit: i forgot, i just recently started using this fake-windowscreen-thing so it was more easy to tab in and out of the game. might this be a reason?
  12. some mods have seen updates, some didnt. i suggest u try and find out on your own, as we dont know what other mods you have :)
  13. were you able to fix it or does the problem still remain? if so, what have you been trying since last time?
  14. are you sure that you removed the mods you thought that they were responsible for the issue, correctly? if you only deactived the .esp 's from the load order, read this: only deactivating the .esp from the load order will not fully remove the mod. to fully remove the mod, you need to actually remove all the files that came with it. to do so, its best if you see your mod download, and what it contains, search for it in your oblivion files and delete them. note: maybe there were some things replaced, like textures. if u are unsure, dont delete the files, but copy them to a safe place out of the oblivion folder, so in case things go wrong you can put them back! (i personally always back files up that are going to be overwritten in a mod installation process, so nothing can get messed up.) if not, continue here: your mods seem to be okay otherwise. except for one thing about the load order: why is oblivion.esm not at the very top? if im not wrong it should be first. anyway, try running BOSS (better oblivion sorting software) you can find it easy here on nexus. another thing you can try (most likely wont help but try anyway) load another savegames and see if you still run into the same problem. oh and try disabling this: EVE_ShiveringIslesEasterEggs.esp idk what it does but try anyway. another thing that comes to my mind is: load an older savegame and try starting the quest u wanted to play again, and see if the same problem occurs again. post your results good luck!
