So yeah. A toolkit stored in your inventory, that lets you break down junk (maybe other things too, guns into their mod parts prehaps?) Maybe make you collect some tools to make it ;P... but yeah. Cus seriously, if I have to carry another half-dozen desk fans and can't just take them apart with that sqrewdriver I picked up...
